Still my favorite Marvel key. I have an ultra rare Mexican edition published by La Prensa. Less than 20 copies are accounted for according to long time collectors from Latin American countries. It is in top 5 most sought after Spanish editions.

Here is an Argentine published EC with classic Jack Davis cover. Early 1960s. Art is redrawn and concludes with new mascot narrator this book is stunning condition for what i usually find overseas Enjoy

YOWSA!!!!! That is how i felt holding them in my clinging hands for the first time. Any GA Cap experts know the swips used on these Non Canon covers? Sometimes these artist used exact cover and other times they seem to improvise even up to 100%. The interior are B&W. At first i kind snubbed it, now it adds a new dimension that i crave. Similar to owning the EC Hardbacks.

Catwomancomics, sorry you missed the Mexican copy. I am sure we can find another for you. As Matt said, the first thing you need to overcome is the condition factor. Some books are so rare you must take the plunge regardless of condition, as you might not see it again for 10 yrs and that copy might be a bag of chips. Most foreigns printed before 1990 are going to be very tough in higher grades. 1960s material is difficult over "Fine" or 6.0 range. I have only 2 that i consider 9.0 range which were from US collections.

Here is a pic of some prize Silver age material from Mexico. These particular issues are extremely rare. I feel very fortunate to have these in my collection. It can take months or years to locate a copy. The irony is that print runs on the Spanish material was supposed to be larger that circulation of US editions, but given the environment they were sold and lack of collecting and storage materials, few survived. image by foxtrot70, on Flickr

Very nice pick up. It is common for foreign publishers to run a mainline title like Superman or Spiderman and carry multiple titles published on weekly frequency. It also makes for a fun challenge to track down hunting key issues.

Nice book, Ebal are tough to locate and source. Brazil is one of the more difficult countries to buy.

The condition of that book is unreal!!! those old DC are rare in grade and this is extra special for having the distinction of being published same time as SC 4, but also has side kick reboot, which many of us feel is significant signal that the silver age was being birthed. That is coming from a Marvel guy, who always had a weak spot for Aquaman thanks to the Saturday morning cartoons.

I watched Antman last night and really enjoyed it. I have always liked antman and it is good to see that Marvel has done a good job with this character in the cinema realm. I will own the DVD.

Besides the Pence & Canadian editions were there any other foreign editions printed at the same time as the US editions. Yes La Prensa in Mexico published Marvel material for several years at or near same dates up until FF #1, then for some reason a lag kicked in (we dont know why). TTA 27 has same indica date as US version, but as you get into Hero era, the drift begins, but they also had to consolidate titles due to taxes etc to keep profitable. Similar scenario you had with ECs in 50s. So by 1965 Avengers might contain TTA, TOS, Thor and would pub weekly. Then around 1969 they split titles out. La Prensa published material contains very little advertising so they have fewer pages, but the paper quality is actual superior to the US versions until early 70s. These books were said to possibly have print runs much higher than US and dist to Spain, and all of South and Central America. The editors also did their own inking which I enjoy as much as seeing Severin.

Great Thread! I am not surprised that these books bring a premium in some cases. There are generally fewer people hunting them, but they are also extremely scarce and its all about supply vs demand on price. I am not sure i see them greater or lesser than pence. I think both are under appreciated. I myself collect Mexican published Marvels and DC SA. Prices are all over the place for foreigns. Reminds me of the 70s/80s. Having money isnt enough in the foreign game, you need a network and often language skills or resources/ tools to data mine etc to find books. They also tend to be difficult to find in grade because again, they are very scarce to start with. It takes collecting to an entirely new level. Canadian and Pence are great and just scratch the surface to the undiscovered world of Foreigns.
