  1. Such a book belongs in the sig line Congrats Jeff!
  2. I just realized there are a few FF 52 threads. Well I will show off my Foreign edition to compliment Matt's copy. I love the cover variant the editors decided to use with this issue. LosFantasticos 79 my copy by foxtrot70, on Flickr
  3. This is TIme Magazine Picture of the Year material
  4. The later of your statements. They are easier to obtain, so people lose focus and take them for granted. The old FF issues were very difficult to find before the internet, so grade was less important as well as being a non-key oriented. Back in the days finding any copy of an early FF would be a thrill. I remember buying a beater copy of FF #11 and it was the envy of my circle of friends. It is nice to have so many boardies still be able to share the joy of these classics for what they are.
  5. Nice Vaillant! FF 13 is at the top of my upgrade list. There's a nice copy on Ebay now for less than 300, but it has marvel chipping (thumbs u Vaillant, Nice pick up in any grade. And 20 yrs ago would have been appreciated by even more folks (pre internet era). If was going to horde, this would be one issue I would go after. Not only is the cover great, but the story art is outstanding. Classic Kirby depicting outer-space elements.
  6. They are a good value. I picked up FF annual 1 several months ago. It had been on my radar a few years and the auction was low. Since it was cgc slabbed I jumped on it. 50% of guide! I have since seen copies sell at or near guide so just pays to be opportunistic. Strange tales annual 1 & 2 along w Spiderman 1 and FF1 will be your big annuals. Welcome to the boards.
  7. Thanks guys. I didnt expect to get any big keys that quick, so feel very fortunate.
  8. I alway enjoy seeing foreign editions. They offer a unique experience to the genre that is an original and important part of comic history.
  9. Super cool Silver Surfer. To keep the spirit of foreign editions strong I have a recent La Prensa pick up that arrived yesterday. This raw copy is a nice mid grade. LosFantasticos 13 my copy by foxtrot70, on Flickr
  10. So here are two new books that you have seen already, I just happen to be the new custodian. Thanks Tim!!! I will post some other new La Prensa treasure over in the SA thread Cuentos Brujas 178 cgc by foxtrot70, on Flickr Cuentos Brujas 179 my copy by foxtrot70, on Flickr
  11. I'm sure everyone will agree that we definitely look forward to seeing those pics. Don't feel bad, from the sound of it I was in pretty much the same state (in terms of collecting) as you once upon a time. With very few exceptions I've pretty much purged my collection of US material and have turned to strictly foreign editions. As far as FCC attending Indiana Comic Con... I think it's safe to say that Matt (Define999) and I will be perfectly happy with the results. It's not like we're selling anything so recouping expenses isn't a concern, we just want to raise the awareness about this niche of ours. IIRC the projected attendance is around 10,000 people for the weekend. Even if we're only able to get 1% of those people to take a serious look at what we're doing I know I'll consider it a success. I can resonate with you guys. I sold off some high grade marvels and GA stuff to fund my treasury, but I still love my US Editions. I have had the Foreign bug going strong this last year and finally had time and funds to make the focus change. Cheers
  12. Gino, Gino, I love that book! The Biro Zip covers are like no other! Great pick up buddy! thanks Corey I appreciate that my friend I am quite fond of them as well. it's kinda too bad that lower corner chip took most of his name with it ..thanks again dude (thumbs u Watch out Steel, its El Fuego Lucha Libre
  13. My collecting focus spans a broad range of comicdom, but I am pleased that I recently made some purchases to secure some nice La Prensa issues. Me encanta la Prensa! I will post pics when they arrive, but one score is from Mijael @ Los 4 Fantasticos #79. I sold off my high grade american copy earlier this year and will replace it with this copy.
  14. I cant find the post now, but thought someone was wanting Icelandic printed comics. I have a buddy at work who is from Iceland and he gave me this link as one of biggest books stores in the country. Not sure how current, but interesting fact he shared was that Iceland has more books published per capita than any other country. http://www.eymundsson.is/Eymundsson/English Happy to pass along any other questions if anyone needs help.
  15. One of my favorite stories but part of the silver age by definition. I always wondered if his costume was like a onesie and had snaps down by the legs and britches.
  16. Thanks! In South Africa they value their own published books like we do and they are very rare to come by. South African Superman #1 has $1000 offers but are so scarce with none to be had Love the color changes on the Fantastic Four #1... but nothing beats the original for sure Very cool. Are the interior pages B&W or color?
  17. DD reboot w Waid is great. One of the few new comics I buy. I am behind a few months, but I will get caught up.
  18. Maybe you were thinking about Archie reading about the Shield. The Shield usually read the Daily Star and Dusty read Zip. posted like a comic zen master Dusty reading zip... ok I was close, ehh!
  19. My memory is foggy, but thought i recalled an MLJ story like that... Shield ironically... then again I dont remember what I ate for dinner last night.
  20. This Blue Ribbon cover is the best in the run. My copy is a nice solid VG/+ w OW pages. Happy to add this to my collection. IMG_4019 by foxtrot70, on Flickr
  21. Also curious Last sale is $5,975 Average is $5,765 I apparently need to find a cheaper copy... One more question, how has this book trended in the last couple of years price wise? I would say as flat line as the interest in that sand dude. Seriously, I had looked at a 4.0 in 2010 and price is not much higher now. Not like the bump we've seen in TOS39... or the interstellar AF 15. Others can correct me if I am wrong but off the cuff I don't think that's an accurate characterization. My sense is there has been increased heat and higher asking prices for low grade copies lately, and mid grade copies too. Vg copies between sort of an in between grade (not the cheapest and not the 6.0/7.0 range which is as nice as most can afford) might not have seen much increase yet but if i recall corrdctly its been strating to pick up steam in other grades. I watch CC,Clink, Ebay etc. There are outliers, but if I had to sell my 3.0, think I would break even. I bought it a few years back. FF#1 is my fav key, but sad to say it is not Hot and appreciating like other books.
