Thanks for that Ryan - a move in the right direction. Maybe the initial 'dump' of fast-tracked #1's diluted the buying market, and what with cgc's poor modern TaT, a gap has opened up for demand to finally outstrip supply. Hopefully somebody won't rush out and dump another 50 9.8's on ebay and kill off this upturn...... (Yes that was a hint to someone who is sitting on a shedload of these..... )

Thanks for the concern - we in Southern Victoria caught a break today as its cooled down heaps! Those poor devils in the interior, NSW and Southern Queensland are in for one hell of a bad spell. Birdsville is expected to top 50c (yes 50c) for both Saturday and Sunday. Thats 130 degrees farenheight! Peoples shoes are melting on the tarmac - which is also melting. A lot of people lives are in danger and many homes around the whole country have been lost in huge bushfires. You might not know, but 90% of State Emergency Services (SES) members who fight these massive blazes are UNPAID VOLUNTEERS - many of whom toil for days. Sadly last year more than 10 died - we will lose more this weekend probably as well. Some parts of Australia, outside of the big Cities are very dangerous places to be, with the fires and heat.

Late reply - time difference and all that. I took it to be a bend catching the light from the photo being taken. If it was a break then it *should* be visable on the first main picture. A press involves a combination of heat,humidity and pressure to eliminate small creases,reduce larger ones,enhance the 'flatness' of the book and generally improve presentation. You are 100% correct when you sy that colour breaks will not be improved in any way. I think also that grades are a little harsh on this book - a 9.6 - 9.8 *could* be achievable if it is pressed by an experienced professional. Thats a very good buy for someone.

Who was 'dissing'? I thought all responses to your question, were balanced polite and fair. I still love TWD - note I said sold 'raws'. I just rechecked my CGC invoices and have another 40 or so waiting to come back including 5x #1, #2 - #15 #19, 27, 53, 61, 92 (x7) plus another 20 or so random ones. I got a couple from the pay-it-forward thread so they will go off as well to cgc. In otherwords I still probably own 60% of the run in 9.8! One of the great books of all time - it's just for me, a no-brainer to sell a few slabs from #80 - #90 and buy 4 or 5 FF #52. I totally respect what you collect - I think pretty much everyone is quite respectful on this forum usually. Stick around. You'll change your mind soon enough. You rascal - that is the worst quote-mongering I have ever seen!! 60% - you cheap barsteward - its less than 9% and you know it. Introduce yourself old fella.

Remember everyone calling Branget daft when he was buying #1's at over $200? Last two sales were $2850 and $3000 for Blue Labels. Buy as many as you can,slab them via slow stream and wait for 18 months. You will be fighting me and Bagel though!

Sorry mate - I have seen quite a few people go on about the "Jeff" cover. I thought it was the guy who owned the store! There is not one shread of 'proof', not even in twitter-land that this is Jeff Grimes. If you want to go hard at something - start buying and slabbing #92. Ist Jesus. I know the print run was ,what ,20,000 ish? (I'm sure someone will be along soon to give the correct number) but its already over a year old - and was well read, not hoarded from what I can see by the numbers/condition (VF, not NM) on ebay. Give it another 2 years and this will be at Govenor (#27) level hopefully. Raws can still be had for $30 - $40. Thats what i would be collecting for as long as prices remain at $50 or below. 9.8 (12 month GPA) = $108 9.8 (3 month GPA) = $111 SS 9.8 (Kirkman Adlard) = $288 Its only going to go up until he bites the dust - and that won't be for years as Kirkman has said he will be around for a long,long time. If you know something about "Jeff" that proves it is him - please accept my apologies for not knowing all the facts - but even if it is, this is still a great place for noobs to have their first big speculation. It really is a no-lose situation, unless the whole Walking Dead franchise falls off the cliff! Good Luck Mate!
