  1. A repair can be conserved label (blue/grey, which I prefer as this will be the most structurally sound) but it also is possible a repair will get a pure universal label (several methods to do this). I am truly baffled by people who choose to just slab a super low book just to get a low grade number (when the book could just be kept in archive sleeves or repaired outright to better preserve the item and THEN graded)
  2. I prefer detached covers...as that is the easiest fault to repair that results in the biggest grade bump. Conservation for important books is under-utilized and often misunderstood by the comic community - but I'm always on board to fix this issue and reap the benefit of having a decent looking book that now can be handled without further damage.
  3. I think you are all are not focusing on the most important part of this trailer FROG MAN!!
  4. Bump and a single price drop (now only $20 per page, perhaps the cheapest color guides out there)
  5. Any Spider-fans looking for some great looking actual production pages of a Spider-Man comic? For Sale: The original color guides for John Byrne Spider-Man: Chapter One #0 Complete 8-page Story "I am the Living Sandman" Original Art (Marvel, 1999). Writer, penciler, inker, and letterer, John Byrne, tells the origin of Flint Marko, a.k.a. Sandman, in this complete eight-page story. Guides are copies of the original inked/lettered art which have been painted on by the books colorist Christie Scheele. Each page is 8.5x11 inches in size total. Features some great panels, including a perfect first page splash as well as the quintessential nuclear test explosion that gave him his powers. Fun trivia, but the art in this origin references another old Marvel book, Journey into Mystery #70, which is regarded as the original 'Sandman Prototype' that predates this character - they used the design of that original prototype here as Flint Marko's very first form he takes to fight off some scientists. You rarely see full story sets of such production art come up for sale, as most are split up into separate sales - making this set excellent for display. The original line art for this story sold way back in 2011 for $1,920usd, so this is the next best thing for a fraction of the cost. OFF TO EBAY LATER
  6. This would have been bonkers to see! What monster decided that this was the thing they should cut from the show?
  7. They graded it because they 100% knew there would be zero desire for anyone to buy it from them if they could leaf through the book, and there was no way CGC was going to be very explicit on the label that gives this mega flaw context ("Missing the entire point of owning this issues"). This was in order to flip the book and get something back out of it and I don't think for a second the original owner had any intention on being transparent about it.
  8. At least THIS issue finally puts to rest the age old debate: Issue #181 is Wolverine's FIRST APPEARANCE
  9. It's so good, and just to make sure to give credit where credit is due: the actor for any of the headless scenes was Ray Park (Darth Maul). Still 100% badass to get a combined Park/Walken role like this
  10. One the one hand this book has been undervalued for far too long, but on the other hand...this is silly: Cover is detached and it is MISSING ALL 5 PAGES OF THE SANDMAN STORY. I'm assuming most of the value here is in the cover, as that is a very nice sticker and overall clean wrap that could be used to upgrade another complete copy.
  11. I replaced one stamp in a cheap book once as an experiment with tear seals. To make the mis-matched back fit, I did two things - used a thicker tear seal on that side of the page only (no seal on the stamp side) AND before attaching it I applied tape to the middle and ripped it off - gaving it a 'natural' looking tape pull (so you don't immediately notice the middle art does not match, and the seal spread around the edges obfuscate the rest). Its still obvious for anyone looking at it carefully, but when flipping through now just looks like a regular defect.
  12. 9.4 is where I was initially thinking too.
  13. Nice, I think the only reason I've not hunted down that amazing Fury variant is because it isn't part of the Hellboy first year set (1993-1994) - and I know once I start buying grails outside of that my wallet is going to be in big danger I do also have a CGC 9.8 of Seed of Destruction #1. I'm looking to upgrade my SDCC to a 9.8, though in that case since the cover isn't by Mignola I'm not concerned with getting it signed as well.
  14. I legit forgot about this movie and so fell for this tweet when I saw the impressive shots and became very interested in seeing it...and five seconds later then realized the joke and that the movie was already sitting in my watch list
  15. A friend of mine wants to sell this book and would love a second (or thirty) opinion on the possible condition. No surprises, so what you see in the pictures is what's there (but I assume maybe a few random finger prints of course) Front and Back cover plus first page photos here (the rest underneath in a spoiler) More pics:
  16. Does it include Hellboy pages? Can't see it as all that important since at this point it's fighting for the 2nd appearance slot (maybe)
  17. That doesn't have any importance to it as far as I'm aware, it's not even listed by Mignola himself in the Hellboy list. Only one I'm missing is the Salt Lake City Comic Con Program, but I honestly have no desire to pay for it as it's so far removed from the actual final Hellboy it doesn't do anything for me.
  18. Thanks - I thought I was priced out of ever owning one but this copy I jumped on immediately when it was listed on eBay about two years ago for an obscenely low price. It's a fun oddity, but honestly unless you are a super Hellboy fan it isn't necessary - the SDCC is the actual real first appearance and has a lower print run as well (but not as cool a cover obviously)
