  1. Sure, most of the time it is obvious by looking at it but since these are parts of the book's history as you say (literally how it was made) I feel recognizing it helps bring attention to it more than simply leaving it as is (for example, when I post books online to other social channels with pedigree notations or file copy notes on the CGC label I always get comments asking about those notations and wanting more info, but when the CGC note lacks those items yet they are clear file copies or pedigrees with obvious markings on the covers no one is commenting asking about what they mean. CGC recognition does drive interest in the hobby.) There isn't any monetary value to this for me personally, as all checking copies are honestly often low grade and never have sold for anything different than their universal counterparts (in some cases for much less due to the very obtrusive markings). I feel it's more about tracking (in such things as GPA which would label the sale as they do file/pedigree books) which over time will help figure out which books have surviving checking copies and perhaps help count exactly how common/rare they might be in the wild.
  2. I'm guessing this is happening during the unpacking/receiving portion - when books are unpacked, prepped, and transferred to the graders (who even if they handle books correctly it doesn't mean much if the defects happened before they got ahold of the issues)
  3. From another Ask CGC thread a user asked about two different books with replaced staples...one was Conserved and the other was Qualified:
  4. @CGC Mike just wanted to loop you in on this little poll I've started and would very much appreciate any help/suggestions/insights you might have, as I feel at this point it is clear there is at least some desire by us crusty collectors to have CGC start reconsidering their position on Checking Copies
  5. Regardless of how I feel about any of these characters, I do agree that better standardization and continuity of terms used is paramount. I find appearance designations for one company are not replicated for another on labels, for example we have "1st Marvel villain team-up" on Fantastic Four #6...but where is the one for DC comics, or any other major publisher for that matter? (Spoiler: For DC it's More Fun Comics #70, and I've tried to get CGC to acknowledge this but with no response - even when I've mailed the book in with print out notes/evidence/links to confirm it)
  6. I don't think this was pressing, as that damage would have been very visible afterwards by the graders who then should have clocked the grade down considerably.
  7. Oh neat! That's my label! I was wondering why Mike at Hero Restoration wanted a custom label a few years back and what ever came of it
  8. Yes, because you keep slamming down your headset when you hangup. THAT IS VIOLENCE AGAINST PHONES, AND HE WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT.
  9. That is not true, all the words are very short & small though ;)
  10. Would love to get more votes on this - please share your opinion on this! The more interest there is, either way, will help sway CGCs mind on making any label changes (which they have expressed openness towards when I contacted them about this). It's never a bad thing to have better label notes as well as possibly having more details tracked in GPA or other prices guides.
  11. Well, I'm officially interested now that the best Marvel character is making an MCU appearance https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/A._G._Bell_(Earth-616)
  12. To be clear, I was joking. I would be 100% opposed to this for a number of reasons.
  13. Please no hall of shamers or probies. We will ship anywhere in North America, shipping will be a flat $10. Price is in USD, and I only accept PayPal (or e-transfer for fellow Canadians). No returns on graded books, within 7 days for raws at buyers expense. Check out my kudos thread for my history of selling/buying - I'll treat you right! First timestamped gets it over any ongoing PM offers. Just one book for today since I rarely venture out of the Golden Age/Silver Age selling forum...after this sale I'll crawl back into my cave there Batman #423 Classic cover by Todd Mcfarlane. FIRST PRINT. Inks are vibrant and perfect, with no fading. Book is in high grade (My conservative estimate is VF/NM, but I tend to judge extra hard so please see pics) $SOLD
  14. OOOOOOOORRRR we can get Gary Oldman reprising his role from Tiptoes.
  15. You mean this one. You can see the wings on his feet too in this image. Overall I like it, but the facial hair is the only thing throwing me off.
  16. Might want to double check that URL again, Mike. This friendly note has been brought to you by your own actual webmaster
  17. 100%. The shipping boxes are totally one of the biggest points of failure for CGC, that thick cardboard on the sides isn't doing much compared to something more flexible (foam or bubble wrap), and since the books inside are all pushed together you get shock through every single case (there needs to be something between EACH issue, not just a thin piece of cardboard separating every fifth slab. Something like thin foam sheets you often see used when shipping plates or other delicate items). Buying large orders of graded books from other sellers, I've never come across a broken slab yet since they often ship with foam or well wrapped in bubble wrap. CGC needs to invest in something better and for sure cut down on the amount of books in a box (even dropping down to 20 would allow some room for some wrap or additional padding!)
  18. weekend bump and price drop! Will leave it up here for today and then off to another venue. Off to another marketplace
  19. Alas, my book was submitted through a local store (Gotham Central Comics, http://gothamcentralcomics.com) on August 27th 2021, so I have no submission number (They didn't give me paper work, and every time I call the store they just say it'll arrive when it arrives). It's been 211 business days for my Reholder (I have one other book also sent out that was an economy grading, but they get their submissions back at different times so it wouldn't be holding up the Reholder. I have submitted other books to them since then, in fact just a few months ago, that have been fully graded and returned to me already - including another high value Reholder!)
  20. Moved all books to another local marketplace.
  21. What, you mean it isn't normal for it to take 211 business days and counting for a high value Reholder?
