  1. A big "Thank you!" to all my board friends!!! It's great knowing that you guys are actually reading this thread! More HAUNTED THRILLS madness.....
  2. Thanks! Here's one hoping the kid takes collecting taste after his (or her!) father.....
  3. WELL..... Certainly no horror comics, that's for sure. The fiancee already knows those are going to be in my Vault until the day I hit the grave! I may, however, sell ALL my non-horror comics. Either sell or I've considered trading them for horror comics so that I don't spend $ on comics for the present. Anybody have any horror they wanna trade??!! I just sold my 1957 Chevy Bel Air, so we're hoping that covers baby expenses.
  4. Well, I announced my engagement on this thread, so I may as well take this opportunity to make the 400th reply here by announcing that I am going to be a father! My fiancee and I went to the OB today & it's official. We'll have an ultrasound in two weeks! If you'd like to send a babyshower gift, I'd imagine baby is going to be a horror comics fan, so.....
  5. Does anyone else think the color schemes are great on these Haunted Thrills, or is it just me?
  6. Yup, and the dude up front is brother Abel. C'mon, get with the BA horror program & learn yer hosts!
  7. More weirdness from the Iger Shop courtesyAjax/Farrell pubs..... OSG - "HITLER STORY"
  8. .....and now for HAUNTED THRILLS! I never noticed this for the longest time, and you may not be able to see it in the scan, but there are planets in background. I guess that is supposed to be a planet Death is holding in his hands & peering into. I thought it was a crystal ball for a long time until I saw all the little planets. Wish I had a better copy, the black really shows all the defects when scanned. OSG- "L.B. COLE-A, R-/ ELLERY QUEEN #1"
  9. ...and of course what HoF run would be complete without the OTHER #25, from the following month?! #25b thus brings an end to Hand of Fate, the footsteps of the CCA heard in the distance.....
  10. The issue lovingly known as 25a..... don't get hung up on it!
  11. Thank you! Indeed, it's one of my better looking books. Back to the beaters..... This would be a cool oncept for comic collectors if the doors went BACK in time, no?
  12. Well, my actual intro to PCH was ACG's Adventures into the Unknown # 30, which I picked up at a used paperback store. I didn't realize at the time it didn't have a CCA stamp. After inspection once back home, I started digging through the Overstreet & was hooked by all those "pre-code" references. This Hand of Fate #21 was the first pre-code horror book I saw at the show that day, after having decided to actively pursue this "genre," hanging on Dan Wilson's wall display. I had to have it for the Necronomicon reference alone! I remember walking from table to table (in fact for a couple years after) & asking the sellers, "Do you have any pre-code horror?" Most had no idea what I was talking about until about 96 or so! The good old days! This one will always have a special place in my collection. It's a very nice copy with bright colors, and I like the "Indiana Jones" feel to it.
  13. Wow! This one brings back the memories! It was the first pre-code horror that I ever bought from a dealer, making it my second pre-code horror purchase ever, but my first "active" PCH purchase as a collector. I bought this off of Dan Wilson at a little local show at the Holiday Inn in Sharonville, Ohio probably mid-late 1993. ( A Jubilee show if I remember right.) Danny Wilson may be known to some of you Buckeyes out there, he was affilliated with the store, The Dragon's Lair, Inc. (Dayton, Ohio), off and on since the early 80's at least. They used to set up at a traveling "antique show" that hopped from area mall to mall on the weekend once a month or so. I relied heavily on Dan to complete my run of Conan the Barbarian as a wee lad in the 80's. Stopping by his tables with my grandparents are some of the fondest memories I have from my early collecting days. Anyone else recall Dan? OSG- " Necronomicon story; drug belladonna used."
  14. They should have used this guy in the Medalert commercial for the line," I'm having... chest paaaains!" And to think the poor guy was ridiculed by fellow country clubbers for claiming to have seen spotted elephants. Jeesh!
  15. I get a kick out of how the one corpse still has his official "pirate" eyepatch. I'd really like to uprade this one some day.... OSG - "Bondage, hypo needle scenes."
  16. I love this cover, moralistic dialogue and all. Plus her gams are pretty nice, wink, wink. "Fate" looks even more like "Destiny" when you see him in color, like here. I think Joe Orlando even ripped off the color scheme!
  17. OK, so the guy is standing in clouds of smoke & getting choked by a snake he cannot see. Again, I must pose the question: "Just what IS burning in that incense holder?"
  18. Here's the splash to SoHH # 3 from 1975. Destiny even reads from the "Book of Fate."
  19. This cover is a little hokey. Still, check out "Fate," dosen't he bear remarkable resemblance to DC's "Destiny," who would appear years later?? (btw- this is Fate's first full cover appearance in this title.)
