  1. Here's the day you've all been waiting for: ACTUAL politics affecting our hobby
  2. Yes he did. Listing said "replica" edition and added something in the context of "enjoy owning a copy that looks exactly like the original" I wonder how people would react if the listing was worded slightly different. Kinda like: "counterfeit copy of IH181. Make money today selling these copies to people who would believe it's an authentic copy!"
  3. Elfquest has such a hardcore cult following. I've been selling elfquest trades/hc for the past few years now and can't keep up with stock. There's a huge fan base out there which is just not organized properly in the right venue. A movie can bring this series to the attention of an even bigger audience. I honestly think that this could be of a Harry Potter/Hunger Games/Twilight success level
  4. Very interesting to me that 2 DC related books (I'll let you figure which is the other one) are selling for ridiculous amounts of money (and I mean RIDICULOUS) on such a short time with no real story or key significance
  5. Not the facsimile edition. It's easy to distinguish the facsimile from the original. There are quite a few "replica" editions online which are made with identifiable giveaways (blank inside cover, different page quality etc) this one is an attempt to counterfeit the exact book, with similar content, page material, and texture. There is no difference between distributing this fake IH181 let's say, and a fake $100 bill
  6. A counterfeit IH 181... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-181-1st-appearance-of-Wolverine-EXACT-REPLICA/352669831745?hash=item521cc29241:g:KfcAAOSwW6dc44zo&frcectupt=true
  7. Gotta add some Kirby love to this thread
  8. Crossover titles like these are MONSTERS with readers who are not necessarily collectors. A lot of the DC/Marvel crossover tpb, amalgam tpb, classic crossover treasuries, are big hits with readers. Teen titans/x-men crossover for example is a book that never really appreciated tremendously in price but was ALWAYS been sought after. These are the kind of books that you save to your searches and wait till someone lists them for a buck or five and then comfortably flip them for 25+ Sometimes they experience a spike upwards for no apperant reason, sometimes not, but historically they've always sold well for the general public
  9. Early James Shooter (pun intended) book at that!
  10. It's a good thing only you don't consider him a comic book artist. Frank illustrated and ghosted hundreds of pages worth of comic book material. Between comic strips, comic books, comic book covers, yes even comic book ads- in the 40s-50s he WAS almost exclusively a comic book artist. but his comic book "page count" is not what defined him as a comic book artist. His huge impact, influence and inspiration on hundreds of comic book artists, among them are some pretty big names as Dave Stevens, Art Adams, mark Schultz, Adam Hughes to name a few, is what makes the man not just a great comic book artists, but a legendary one at that. According to Lucas, if it wasn't for Frank's Famous Funnies comic book covers, we wouldn't have a Star Wars... The fact that he actually excelled as an artist past just comic books shouldn't take away from the royalty that he is in our industry
  11. I've recreationally sold close to $200k worth of books in the past 6 years. I guess my retirement started early
  12. Interesting to examine the evolution of good girl cover art throughout the years
  13. Jla avengers has always been a good seller esp issues 3 & 4 and particularly the tpb and SE HC the latter would sell regularly for years for 150-300 i mean.. years
  14. Not yet... we're all anxiously waiting on a Charlton Movie Universe!!
  15. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/heat-vision/ghost-rider-producer-buys-atlas-comics-library-teams-paramount-1211185 Why would anyone wanna invest in Atlas??? The only thing that makes sense is that their catalog is dirt cheap.. well DUH.. there's a reason for that!!
  16. If you think that's high I wonder how much such a classic as his Death Dealer would yeild? i know his 1990 death dealer sold for 1.8 mil last year.. but that's not the classic first
  17. Wife says she's gonna cremate me with my collection. That will be one heckova fire
  18. This is such a great cover! Theres only one problem with the coloring at the center of the cover.. Apparently the colorist misplaced the pink background with the tan color of the hand, which kinda make it seem at a quick glance that Moon Knight has 3 arms.. But that still doesnt take away the charm from this amazing piece
  19. Threads like these read better when bitcoinswanky writes them
  20. My mail carrier (in my mind) my actual mail carrier
  21. I think his wife was a major factor. From all the documentaries I've seen she played a major role in most decisions he made (just as a wife should...) I wouldn't be surprised if she chose the locations (Long Island, California etc) I can't remember which doc it was from where someone said half jokingly that we owe it to stans wife for creating the MCU, since of her high spending habits Stan had to work extra harder creating and promoting more and more superheroes titles in the 60s
  22. Up in City Island, NY there are 2 cross roads where a kirby statue would fit perfectly: Kirby St & King Ave
