  1. In all seriousness I've seen some of the most desirable books ever come out of bags like this in my lifetime
  2. 40k+ signed! https://comicbook.com/marvel/2019/05/11/stan-lee-new-york-city-statue-petition/
  3. Get one of these at TJMAXX for 20 bucks. Stick a short box on it and never have any stresses on the amount of books you need to carry or purchase during a show. It's light and secure. Just don't forget to strap the short box around with the elastic flaps otherwise your books can fall out!
  4. Im the person who kidnapped your Wolverine collection. If you wanna see them again I suggest you wire me $425 or best offer and Ill send them over unharmed
  5. And..I get that we're on the internet and everyone wants to be right. But if you're arguing what's best for you and apply that outwardly to another person who's work method is completely different than yours, and belittle their work ethics - you have no place in this community. Or any community to be quite frank. We all do what we like to do, and do if for reasons that fulfil our financial AND recreational goals. If I was to start billing my gym for all the thousands of hours I deadlift and bench pressed, I would own a cottage in Malibu beach. Instead I pay THEM. According to some of the sentiments in this thread - that wouldn't make any sense!
  6. I get where you're coming from. Everyone have their own preferences. I sub any book that has a potential of $100 or higher. I use the word potential because sometimes a book turns from 100 to 50 through time (although not often since I don't send in books that just started to trend higher, unless they skyrocket, which is not the case in this example) which is why I do zero "add ons". Never fast track, never press (well, since I own the units and do a good job at it). I almost always pre screen but honestly I manage to sell my rejects for a lot more than $5 which offsets the reject fee. Im pretty sure that the books you spend $30 on pressing are high end. But in the example of the OP of this thread we're talking about moderns which, with the exception of the known keys, would likely be in the 50-100 range if subbed and get a 9.8 (and that's a big if too) Anyways, thanks for sharing, always good to read someone else's method of work
  7. I'm quite surprised you actually pay for pressing. I sell books as a hobby and own 4 pressing units. Can't imagine a dealer having none/ pay to press
  8. No shortage of speculation fails. Probably the biggest and most impactful one to our industry is the entire 90s era
  9. A message to the person who sold the books to Dormian:
  10. My strong advice to those who don't see the value in buying and holding a simple and cheap lot like this: Dont EVER get into real estate seriously i beg you not to
  11. Because of the current state of the market up until a couple of years ago I would cherry pick collections because collections were plentiful and there weren't too many new hot books generated from the ones I didn't pick. What happened lately is the exact opposite. Great collections became very hard to come by and, I believe consequently, because so many newbs been picking up trash, a new generation of "comic book enthusiasts" (let's call them that) started to pump non key/drek that would make for great pocket change and over time a lot more than that. A couple of months ago I picked up a collection of 20+ long ones, which was definitely cherry picked. I got it for 600. Ever since then I sold the following books from that collection: Giant size ms marvel 1 - $50 Asm 365 x 5 - $70 Avengers 12 - $50 Thor 390 x 2 - $80 Hulk 377 x 3 - $60 Spider-Man 2099 x 10 - $50 Shadow of the bat x 10 - $50 There were a few mini keys that I sold quickly just to offset the transaction, everything else is pure profit. And that's just in 2 months. I can guarantee you this collection will generate me a few thousands just from sitting on it for the next year or 2. If you have the space, time and stamina, I'd say go for it. But do not offer more than 30 a box
  12. I found quite a few of them in dollar bins a few years ago. Actually, up until '18 u wouldn't be able to NOT find them in dollar bins
  13. This needs a few presses... get a good guy that will guarentee 5, 6 presses... Will take a few days but eventually it would get a 4-5.0 if no interior tears Awesome score btw!
  14. Def trending based on sales.. Up till April 16 there was only one random sale of that book, which is typical of a 1$ bin book.. then over 20 sales since... Interesting that on April 16 there were so many sales of that book.. As far as I know there was no internet hype about this at all:
  15. Care for some more endgame craziness? (dont click on them if youre worried about spoliers) This one is really blowing up now https://www.ebay.com/itm/Avengers-vol-4-12-2011-Iron-Man-Wields-The-Infinity-Gauntlet-Endgame/273827061660?hash=item3fc15d5f9c:g:KKEAAOSwG~hcx9jW And this one seems to be picking steam https://www.ebay.com/itm/Iron-Man-284-Sep-1992-Marvel-Death-Tony-Stark-NM/372203165926?epid=85425647&hash=item56a90998e6:m:mCKh9nDVd7DIJ6LDZtnIX9g
  16. thank goodness Chuck R never recommended this one on his newssletters back then otherwise I probably would have owned a few I got h*ny biker slu*s based on his spec and that wasn't any better
  17. Barely copper but still, I think this fits this thread's needs
  18. Funny and sad alike. My mom was very supportive of my comic reading habit. she always said, you were MUCH easier than your brother, if you were crying all I had to do is go to the newsstands and get you a few superboy/batman comics and you would be happy for the next few days
