  1. Clay usually brings a portfolio of his art at show's that he attends. you can usually find something nice and reasonably priced with him. as for the notion of the comic art community being an 'elite community', I don't think that is the case. what you have on this board isn't necessarily a representation of the broader art collecting community. there are people out there that collect all sort of different art with all sort of different price points. I would suggest as others have mentioned shooting those that have similar collecting interests a note and if you are going to a show asking if they are up for a bite or something. I haven't found it to be terribly difficult to make friends in this community either in person or virtually.
  2. Michelangelo used photo referencing for his art?
  3. does the map show where all the big name artists are? I couldn't find them.
  4. the balent came out great. was that an at show piece? also was he a hard get?

  9. Yep. I had a guy tell me this in my comments for a book i was going to try and put together: "Sorry to have to tell you that you'll never have the whole book.......Neither Chris nor I are ever likely to part with a gift from our comic art idol."

  11. anyone seeking early image, any Larsen and full face splashes now needs to revisit their bidding strategies! sounds like he has a pretty great art collection.
  12. Yeah, that cover didn't deserve to be in a weekly auction.
  13. IMO there is always a risk to adding another party into what is already a nice piece of artwork. I wouldn't have someone that no ones ever heard of work ontop of a well known artist. I'd stick with a pro. and if you are concerned about the value then I would stick with a pro that someone has heard of and has desirability. ultimately however its your art and if you are keeping it forever, it doesn't really matter what you do with it.
  14. I would caution about going direct with paolo. I haven't heard positive experiences.
  15. I would value NM 98, then BA12 then TWD 1. NM 98 has nostalgia value to it. BA12 correct me if I'm wrong is a book people had to go back and get and was mainly picked up for speculation purposes. I would be shocked if there is any nostalgia associated with that title. TWD to me is fading.
  16. ok...referring to BTAS as a kiddie cartoon is going too far now
  17. X-Men #1 October 1991 X-Force 1: August 1991 Spiderman 1 August 1990 Death of Superman October 1992 Seems to me like most of the highly sought after modern art comes from the 90's?
  18. Take it to a professional. See if they can restore the paper. I have a buddy undergoing the same thing currently. I'll ask him to post here if he has success with taking his bend out.
