I’d rather have collectors and hardcore fans not alter art.

For me, personally, these shows have done little to give me a better opinion of any of the dealers. Although premised to engage buyers in a new way and gain market visibility, it just seems like glorified price discovery. And seeing the same dealers and collectors buying all the pieces… just illuminates the networks that have been alluded to (and deleted) in previous threads. -

Yes. Sorry, it was from an email they sent out.
Never occurred to me they even sent emails with prices, seeing as how cagey they are with numbers. Those must be hysterical.

I’ve stopped being surprised by current prices, and doubly so with charity auctions. But there’s a lot of respect in the artist community for both Asner and Pini, so I’m inclined to think this is an outlier specific to the auction.

Excalibur 21 cover. Sold 3.2.21 for 2988. Now available for 8500. Not sure if it’s been restored, but I’d be super po’d as a buyer if that dedication is still there, not disclosed, and covered up with trade dress…

Looks like he reads the boards and the listing has been updated.

Thanks Scott,
All that time negotiation contracts and reviewing cases, looking for the thing that can go wrong, to try and protect against it just makes me lock-up mentally on deciding to send it off. If a piece is of out of my control not having it covered if it's damaged or lost is scary with unique items, for me. Hard to break that mindset once it's locked in.
On a tangential note, would you be covered by your own insurance for something like restoration? Would CIS or whoever cover you?

The fact that so many have a visceral reaction to inclusion is why it’s needed.

Well that was the easiest waiting room ever. They’ve updated a bit, and tell you how long the wait is now. 5 minutes for me. So I’m in for the experiment.

I'm going. I do question where exactly in the process they are going to be doing the vaccination/test checking. Sounds like it might be a nightmare to get in. I'm usually waiting in line on Saturday to get in. I think I will give it a few hours this year for them to work through the initial crowd.
At Portland last weekend, they had a check after security for vaccinations. Gave a wristband to wear all weekend, so only one check needed. Relatively quick. Hopefully Baltimore is similar.

Pretty chill Friday. Lines moved and it wasn’t slammed. Was hot as h**l early in the con, so don’t layer.

The 1.5-months-later-50%-markup flip. :"You wanted this sooooo much but you missed its Heritage auction? Bad, bad boy. How dare you. Well, here's your chance at redemption. But it will hurt, oh baby yes. Swallow your pride. Don't mind the Flip of the Day losers. Mwahaha..."
There was a HA piece I missed out on months ago because no reminder text. Did their offer thing the next day for double what it sold for. Got a counter at 3-4x, said f it, I’m good. Figured they really wanted to keep it or it was a dealer. Appeared at coollines weeks later.

Everything else has doubled in the last 6 months, why not Byrne X-Men as well? My guess will be $72k.

There probably should be a new thread for dealer refreshes…
This Nexus cover sold in 2014 on heritage for 2000. Been sitting on Moy’s site for years since for just under 5000. Now it’s suddenly a new arrival at 8000.
