Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm sorry to hear that a lot of people haven't had the best of luck getting a commission. It does sound extremely difficult.
I guess I will keep at it and hopefully find something. Cheers.
Just the nature of the beast with an artist as popular as he is. On a positive note, a few years ago at SDCC, he did a remark for me on a print I bought from him. Basically for free.

ugh, that is annoying. I am on his commission list for a few years now, never heard a peep from him. And I follow up periodically.
What was even more annoying was actually being at the con he was supposed to attend, and missing the post being busy with con stuff.

I asked Scott. He is gonna try to verify it, but he believes that it’s Sinnott inks.
From Scott -
this is what Mark Sinnott had to say
Not Joe's. He did one daily SM in 1979, one in 1982 and 4 in 1983 before starting regularly on the Sunday's in 1992. He probably signed this at a show. This is definetly Romita.

It sure looks like Romita to me, Mitch.
Thanks for you concern. It has been confirmed as his inks by the Romita's.
As to why it was signed by Sinnott, I have no idea. Artists sign many things they are given at shows.

So what did the previous owner say about the Sinnott signature?
I asked Scott. He is gonna try to verify it, but he believes that it’s Sinnott inks.

I've never watched, is it indeed a disaster?
I’ve not watched in a while. But judging from the amount of pieces posted still for sale post show, I’m gonna assume yes. It def was towards the start of it.

What's the logic here
We’re all taking about him. If the disaster that is Dealmakers is an example, I’m going with he thinks any publicity is good publicity.

If history is an example, prices will dip a bit when I decide to sell a few things, but will climb again after that.

I was looking at sold lots, and this is another one that's kinda a wtf on price... I love Sienk, but that seems excessive for a recreation...

WHOA!
Is this the Art Adams effect? (I think this issue was taken from an Adams story?) What If (Vol 2) #12 splash page by Valentino/De la Rosa with Asgardian X-men/New Mutants (and Loki with his back to camera) goes for 7.8K! I could be wrong but offhand I don't remember any Valentino art going for more than that specifically at public auction (private sales are a different matter).
Even the decent Valentino/Montano GOTG panel page that was bouncing around a few times over the last few years basically triples in price and goes for $900. Hey now.
The page had a lot going for it… but I was already surprised it jumped from 500ish to over 2K the day before lives. That it ended higher than some of the actual Adams pages boggles the mind. Congrats to the seller!

See I thought the 18k bid on an interior AA page was a very strong price.
Magik in a bikini. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if that was the reason. Mostly full team on the page as well.
But a few years ago, pages were going up 7-10k range and selling easily. Looking at where the pages ended this auction, doesn’t seem like they’ve inflated nearly how other stuff has.

The way prices have been, I'm surprised most of the Adams Asgard pages didn't close higher.

I was talking to Bronty about this one being nice and he mentioned how faded it is at the bottom…but it’s not just the bottom. I wasn’t familiar with the published image so I looked up the actual poster and it’s not even a matter of the published poster just being printed darker…a lot of that piece is faded. Strange’s left leg is particularly bad when comparing to the published image. It should be solid blue yet part of it hasn’t even turned a lighter of blue it’s gone white.
Still a nice piece but something that roached would bug the hell out of me.
Yeah, when you look at the second HA image with the borders, you can see the massive amount of fading.
Again, very confused by price on this one. Which I guess is becoming standard. Lol -

My main goal for next year is to put a book back together.
On 12/29/2020 at 5:21 PM, cloud cloddie said:I have a few different books I have a good portion of that I’m pretty sure I know where most of the rest are at. Just a matter of shaking loose the pages, which as most know is easier said than done.
I kinda hit my goal. Not a lot of movement on the books I’m trying to put back together.
But I did have the opportunity to buy the complete interiors to a book earlier in the year. Different artist for the cover and interiors, so who knows if I’ll have a reasonable shot at the cover at some point. -

This is def a scaled back con. I can see why they weren’t selling single day badges - one day would probably be good to see everything. Not nearly as much of a downtown presence either.
The Ins and Outs of Auction House Bids (Heritage, Comiclink, Comic Connect, etc.)

The lower prices can just as easily be attributed to subject fatigue or less eyes on an auction. Late last year HA had up a bunch of German magazine cover paintings. They were split up over 5 weeks or so. The pieces I won on the last week were about half what they were going for at the start.
But I get it. I only bid live as well.
