  1. Here's an example of my system: Each # is color coded and updated as my comics come in. Gray means I need it, red means it's trash and needs upgraded, yellow means it needs upgraded, green means it's a very decent copy that I could live with and blue means it doesn't need to be upgraded or would be hard to find a better copy. When I buy a comic and it hasn't arrived yet, I turn the line for that number purple so I'll know not to buy another one. I take a snapshot of the page from my monitor onto my iphone to have an updated list on me on the go.
  2. Went to an estate sale yesterday and bought a bunch of golden age comics. One was a mystery comic that I'm looking for info on. It's posted in the Golden Age forum if anyone feels like trying to solve a mystery... look for Iggy's recent post.
  3. Found this in a small town antique store yesterday. One of the hardest to find! The owner actually gave it to me free after ringing it up... she was pretty zany. Then this morning went to a shop that used to be a comic store but is now an odds and ends store- the guy has tons of comics and a room full that he can't get to and even more here, there and elsewhere... Says he quit dealing during the 90s bust & doubt he has any serious comic buyers anymore. The place is pretty secluded and semi-obscure from view. I was only able to look through a few long boxes before he was ready to close for the day and found this in his bargain boxes (comics for $1.25 each): I plan to go back when I have all day to look more.
  4. Cool find if it's real! I found this at a garage sale yesterday for a buck. It was bagged only but in great shape with nice pages. I put it up on the bay for a 1-day.
  5. OK, over 72 hours later & no response from him.
  6. I don't expect him to make good, but I think it's important to follow up here instead of letting it go.
  7. No, I invoiced him on March 18 and he didn't respond. So a week later I reminded him. That's when he tried to back out of 1/2 of the deal, a group lot (he said he later purchased the same books elsewhere). Since the thread was closed at that point, I told him it's bad form to do so and he agreed to honor the total purchase by the next day. That didn't happen so I asked for an update and he hasn't replied since.
  8. I have a member to include for discussion to include on the probation list. Member name: Xalechim from this link to my selling thread. Xalechim's purchases in my selling thread He agreed to pay after being invoiced, later I reminded him to which he responded and wanted to back out of part of the deal. Then he said he'd pay for all... then he quit responding. He has been inactive for some time now. I PM'd him per the rules letting him know about this, so we'll see if he responds.
  9. They probably have to have a built database of info for the label notes otherwise they would be stalled at encapsulation. Sure, they could just put the issue #, month & year, but if they leave out what's special about the issue, you know they'd catch hell.
  10. Currently reading In Cold Blood after watching P.S. Hoffman in Capote.
  11. I hear graders notes are no longer offered...?
  12. Why? Whats wromg with a bit of poetry appreciation? Nothing.
  13. Wow! A Clarabelle Cow cover! Cool! (thumbs u Interesting is that Clarabelle was initially portrayed naked with swaying udders in the cartoons: They soon covered her up though. I suppose young kids exposed to swaying udders might grow up to be, oh, stockbrokers, bankers, bakers, engineers, doctors, lawyers, plumbers, congressmen, whatever.... Haha! Yep, I really liked that book. I'm glad it went to a boardie. On a side note, I finally got a new roof & gutters. It was long overdue and the ceiling in my comic room was leaking. Now a heavy rain doesn't bother me anymore.
  14. Hard telling what happened to #1... Darn it.
  15. Yes, it's the same address on the books- where the auction was. That was very cool. The books lived there for approx 70 years, but the house was uninhabited by people for quite some time.
  16. Thanks for the info, tb! Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! Here's my favorite non-duck book from the haul because of the colors and overall beauty: Alas, I won't have time to send any to CGC... I need to sell them as soon as possible since I tapped into my new roof fund which needs to get done before winter and it's getting cold out... I'll open up a thread on the boards for a few days then move them to ebay. I will be keeping the cover to V.1 #5 though- I scored it fairly cheap.
  17. It was probably boarded up for the last 20 years or so. The house is in need of repair and will sell next week at auction.
