  1. Marvel 1 Although all the arguments around caps value overshadowing marvel 1 are solid.
  2. Only until you actually put Classics Illustrated in it! Then it looks sad and you cannot give it away! I'm surprise how much the rack for newly produced classics sold for?? It's not like its and original classics display.
  3. You realize this is the Silver forum, yes? Classic CAK - he's not bound by the laws of mankind oh come on, it's 1970, right on the fence, albeit a couple of months after GL 76 and a month after Conan 1, it still has the hokey cheesey DC 1960s feel. close enough. I wasn't commenting on the age of the book, more his assertion that it was a Bronze Age book, while posting in the Silver forum. I couldn't care less about the intricacies of what book falls in what category. BA or SA, a book this close to the edge of both periods comes down to semantics, either way.But if you want to go putely by time periods ( which I would not argue with) , than this is a BA book. I would place this book as a BA book with a 1960's era feel, but not really in a kitschy/cheesy sense. I'd say it can be classified(loosely) as an undervalued SA/BA key due to its' take on racial issues. The civil rights era took place during the mid to late 1960's and this book has that feeling to it. The only HG CGC slabbed copy I have seen in a year, a CGC 8.0 sold within a day or 2 of it being listed via BIN, about 1-2 months ago. (At the BIN asking price) That shows the demand is there. There is a Voldemort 9.6 on eBay now, at $999 or BO. The Voldemort is a cherry copy, every bit a 9.6.....but, I would rather buy a 9.6 with a couple spine tics or more typical defects than have a 9.6 with a small scratch below the "L" in "Lane".Still, it's a mighty purdy book For a book with racial signifigance, with an all black cover to boot, I think it has room to grow. There are not a lot of copies in the census and the small amount of GPA data shows it's on the uptick. Isn't a 9.6 not supposed to have spine ticks?? 9.6s can have spine ticks. 9.8s can have spine ticks. None I submit. Definitely not anything in the last year

  5. Love love love that 21.... Here's a peek of another favorite
  6. no love for the 50th state once again! No idea why, I've mailed stuff to Hawaii priority mail and it's not any more expensive to ship than it is to ship to TX or CA Priority mail is the same flat rate options to all 50 state including Alaska and Hawaii. But that's priority mail. Other methods may vary. I've bought stuff from hot flips before, I recommend just pm'ing them for details. Ps great looking product and I'm sure I'd find a use for them. May have to shoot off a pm in a bit.

  11. 450 comics isn't a motherlode but maybe a babyload. We can't all be Donut or October or (whoever) and find a guy with a van full of SA comics ready to unload for cover price. To be fair, a lot of people put in a LOT of legwork into getting 'lucky' with these comic finds. Of course, sometimes people get lucky too. Also, I'm guessing the best stories will never be told... I know I'll never tell mine...(and no, I didn't bilk an old widow or anything). Here's the key: 1) Always be on the lookout. Always. You never know. 2) Let all of your relatives and friends know that you're always on the lookout. All of my cousins across the country know to call me if they see comics anywhere. 3) Don't be a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed to people. Douchiness tends to radiate to muggles. 4) Offer a fair price. 5) Have cash. 6) Buy it all. Don't offer to cherry pick. 7) Be very very very ready to bail. If the seller's asking price is ludicrous, smile nicely, say "thank you for your time" and pack up your stuff. You're only out your time, and you will be amazed how quickly that ludicrous price comes down. Good advice, while I don't buy many collections. I always look and put out feelers.

  22. Speaking of tough ones to find: Nintendo Comics System Valiant! 51 watchers! It's the 2nd most watched CGC Graded comic on eBay right now. Unfreaking-believable. I'm watching it because it seems like the cool thing to do. Neither of the above comics are CGC graded. Here's the one I was talking about. It doesn`t surprise me at all. Nintendo was the Marvel of the 1960s in the 1980s to that generation. Great franchises started here Mario,Zelda, and Metroid. A pretty great trio of franchises that can compare in popularity to Spider-Man,Hulk and Fantastic Four. That audience from the mid 1980s to earlier 1990s has grown up and is nostalgic for their heroes. That NN (Preview) book is an absolute PITA to find. I've bought every copy I have ever found (two). When I talked to Bob Layton a few years ago he told me that the Nintendo franchise almost bankrupted Valiant before they did a single Superhero book. Jim I found one, it's really HG. I sold a high grade last year. Lots of bidders
