  1. Bronze ended in around 1978 and then the copper came..... 1980's Bronze. ::
  2. You guys constantly amaze me with the copies you have and the completionist desire. I love the work you've done on the lost issues. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Just trying to flatten out that sub crease back pocket fold with a little trasverse bend action. It's mildly effective.
  4. subbed 20 Oakland books, none pressed. 1 9.2, 10 9.4's, 8 9.6's and 1 9.8 Fun to hear about these types of results. Comparing to current cgc grading do you think they'd hold the grade without a press?
  5. Is it safe to assume that most "slabbed" Oakland's were pressed to achieve 9.6 and 9.8 status or is it more reasonable to assume unpressed. To those of you that submitted the raw books yourselves, did you hedge your bets by having them pressed? I'm going through a large OO collection with unread multiple copies and even in review out of thousands of comics, a true 9.6/9.8 unpressed book is not a given due to minor non color breaking handling/storage/production issues. Many will easily achieve high grades with a press but the ratio is not 1:1 for high grade. More likely 1:10.
  6. Boardies need to read Supersnipe issues. They are a great treasure of fun reads. My old thread needs a bump so maybe I'll upgrade a book and post it.
  7. This conversation crosses over the marvel key inserts in record albums. They get graded as stand alone.
  8. I just opened up the first page of this thread again and read the first 20 pages.... Did you ever share your Detective 27 or Superman 1 images..... I cannot imagine that the earlier concerns are real. Your books are amazing, and some day if you ever decide to sell you'll be able to get more than enough for a cup of java.
  9. The Future 4 red cover for $115 would have had my money even with all those real screaming deals. sweet planet and earlier.
  10. Good to see you back Cheers to ever better health for you ....
  11. Available book at the time and available funds?
  12. Are you even a member? :: There are certain books that as a kid, I thought were "cool". It wasn't until I was an adult that they all finally came into prominence and some form of subsequent value. Astonishing Tales 25 Marvel Spotlight 5 Iron Man 55 Strange Tales 178 Amazing Spiderman 129 Hulk 181 And yes WWBK 32 was on the short list of cool books. There's a handful that still haven't seen the same level of popularity spikes and subsequent valuations... Amazing Adventures 18 Killraven (way cool) Jungle Action black panther (loved the whole series) Captain America 180 Nomad, a fave Etc... It's a who's who of Bronze Age keys now. Back in 1975-1978 they were just cool
  13. That's just revolting! Says the guy with the Nova logo...
  14. Great Stuff I'm in the process of finding beater copies with stamps and cutting them all out. There is a perverse pleasure in it. I'll share when completed....good progress so far. 16. It is definitely not a "chick thing" to have a Marvel Value Stamp tatoo and I agree she is a blend of 1 AND 2. What's the size if that tat. Looks 4x stamp size. And what tat is wrapped to the right. I've been butchering books for stamps for a little while now. Well really since '74 and there are so many stamps I'd rather have but who doesn't love a fat dude in a chair with a bad hairdo.
