  1. Still looks like some kind of Marilyn Manson thing going on. Like someone stated earlier, the Joker is the "CLOWN Prince of Crime", not some methed up looking EMO/Goth weirdo. -J.
  2. It's a low feedback bidder but what sense would there be in shilling an auction with less than 5 seconds left, and for only $50 more? I think he was just sniped. -J. Outbid by $50 is only because jump_ace put in a max bid of $3K. If he put more in, it would've gone higher. K. Actually, no Jump Ace put his bid in first and was the top bidder at $3k. He was sniped in the last couple seconds by that next $50 bid. -J. I know. But if jump_ace puts in a bid for $3200 and it starts at $3K, it will only show $3K as the going price. If someone bids another $50, they'll get outbid automatically because jump_ace has a max bid of $3200 and the auction will then be at $3100. The idea behind shilling is to drive up the price and to get the maximum bid of the highest bidder. In this case, jump_ace only bid $3K so there was no room to drive the price up. K. That seller would have to have very greedy and steely cajones to try something like that, given that he already started his minimum opening bid right at GPA (which he is obviously familiar with). If the book re-lists we will know fur sure what happened, but as of now it's equally as likely Jump Ace was sniped by another of the 40 or so watchers. -J.

  5. Those census numbers are not based on "rarity", they're based on the book not being slab worthy. Expect those numbers to drastically increase in the coming weeks and months. -J.
  6. Interesting. Some people here were so pessimistic about this book, and Miles, in February. That's why you don't listen to the forums, buy what you like. I certainly wasn't pessimistic about Miles in February. I was rationale. Many people were off their rocker stating he was going to be the next big screen version of Spider-man. Regardless of the movie speculation, people (not you specifically) were just dismissing this book in general, despite the fact Miles has a growing fan base and Marvel has intent to use this character well into the near future. I think they were mostly Peter Parker nut huggers though and didnt like the attention Miles was getting. ....or they were simply turned off by the blatant attempts at pimping and pumping of a dollar bin book with obviously fake movie hype. And it worked to a large degree. Even though this character cannot sustain a solo title, there are some (dealers, mostly) who believe (or at least proclaim, over and over) that he is more popular and relevant than he actually is. I'm not saying there is not potential there. But Miles Morales' reach has already far exceeded his grasp. Plus, the vast, vast majority of people actually want to see Spider-Man in a Spider-Man movie. (thumbs u -J.
  7. We're talking books like HFH 1, ToD 1, MP 1, etc, right? Those books are too late (actually the HFH 1 could conceivably have one). The NDS inserts only ran from about April 1971 and stopped completely in early 1973. So you'd be looking for an ASM 100 or an IM 55 for example. I think you may be mixed up: Marvel Premiere 1 - April, 1972 Tomb of Dracula 1 - April, 1972 Hero for Hire 1 - June, 1972 Others would include Marvel Spotlight 2 (February, 1972), Marvel Spotlight 5 (August, 1972), Marvel Feature 1 (December, 1971), Defenders 1 (August, 1972), ASM 101 (October, 1971), FF 112 (July, 1971), Amazing Adventures 11 (March, 1972), and others. You're right the HFH 1 I caught, I don't know why but I mis-read the tomb of Dracula as "10" and not a 1 and then glossed right over the "MP 1". Must have been some kind of weird comic book tourette's like response. I know there's a boardie with a raw marvel spotlight 5 (I think Porcupine) with one, and I have never seen one in a MP 1. With the recent increased interest in that book I wouldn't mind having one in a 9.0+ if I could find one out there. -J. I sold this Marvel Spotlight #5 a few years back (to a board member I believe) that had the National Diamond Sales insert: j Wow very nice. Never seen one of those slabbed. -J.
  8. Looks like a death metal rocker. Needless to say, I loathe this. -J.
  9. Whomever pops the minimum bid will be in the driver's seat since that is GPA. If somebody decides to go over that in the last seconds, you can decide then how much you really want it. (thumbs u -J.
  10. This book does seem to command a premium so I can see where he's coming from. K. I take it you were the guy that Jump Ace wanted to trade his AF 15 for your Wolvie 1 and ASM 667 D'O? -J. I am . But it's not that he didn't make a good offer. I'm still on the fence. I have a big problem with selling comics. I'm kind of a horder K. You and me both brother ! -J.

  12. Congrats on finding your perfect copy. And she certainly is a beauty. -J.
  13. No pics of the back cover. This particular book tends to show a lot of flaws there too. If there's nothing more there it "could" be a 9.6, but could just easily come back a 9.4. That's a pretty severe looking crease on the front cover and the black makes it stand out more so. -J.
  14. I am pretty sure they were also sold at the local PX/BX stores on US bases. I believe some were. But I think the vast majority of the NDS' were sold overseas. At least according to awe4one's article and what I have seen in other threads and on other boards. The MJ inserts were definitely more commonly sold on stateside bases, and for nearly 20 years longer. -J.
  15. I'd say it's decent. Great is a stretch. No. It's great. -J.
  16. +1 I figure the CGC copy to fetch $1600-ish. -J. $1575. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141639888527?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT -J.

The much harder to find precursor to the Mark Jewelers Insert. (thumbs u -J. I think over the course of my collecting lifetime, I've only had two of these. Apart from their limited run I have to assume it's also because most of them were sold overseas, reducing their survival rate. -J.
  18. That 1.8 looks a wee bit under graded from the front cover. That might have something to do with it. -J.
  19. Yes indeed. A boardie spent a lot of time and legwork putting that together some time ago. -J.
  20. Never get tired of seeing that. Just goes to show how few and far between the NDS inserts are in the big boy BA keys. -J.
