  1. Damn man nice trifecta of books there. You've really been crossing the big gun SA keys off your list there recently. -J.
  2. Cool book! There's no hard and fast rule, but if it's a key I would say the value increase would be about the equivalent of one grade bump up. So the higher the grade, the bigger the $ difference. -J.
  3. @Viking, There has only been one blue label for sale in over a year and it was for $2k actually. It ended up selling off eBay for just slightly under that. The last CGC sale was just a 9.4 for $700. (thumbs u @Kuddy, that's a nice azz 667 dell'otto you have there my man. Glad to see another boardie with one of these and in a 9.8 to boot. Also a tough book in that grade, the dark blue back cover shows every little tick and cranny. -J.
  4. +1 That's why I think it's not in a slab. It would take a paragraph to fully describe all that was done to that book. The seller's description and disclosure leaves A LOT to be desired IMO. -J.
  5. It's in my sig line. Here is a larger, cr@ppy camera phone picture of it: One of only 9 slabbed of these in the world. -J. So awesome Thanks jreezy! -J.
  6. Richie is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but I've never heard of him doing anything like this and would be very much surprised if he did. I've bought a number of books from him over the years and haven't had any problems. So far as I can tell, he always discloses everything about the books he sells. Do most of those reds not looked colour touched to you then? -J.
  7. The two 9.8s have already received multiple offers from what I can see. Sellers are obviously not trying to give them away. -J.
  8. Looks like those high recent sales have spurred some to cash out. Interesting that they're all SS copies though. The 9.0 is actually a re-list. -J.
  9. This happened to it: http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch%2Easp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3DCaptain%2BAmerica%2B1%26x%3D21%26y%3D1%26ItemType%3DCB&id=1023793 -J. Which old CC 0.5 Blue? There was a fugly one recently but it looks totally different from this book. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=554387 -J
  10. Sounds like he did you a favour on that one. -J.
  11. Ugh. So am I right about the colour touch smeared all over that book? And the staples? I'm assuming that's why it isn't selling, even with nearly 100 "watchers". That's why I didn't pull the trigger at least. -J.
  12. This book has been lingering on ebay for months. The seller is vehemently opposed to slabbed and graded books (I guess we should just take his word for it on a book's grade and extent of restoration). I actually thought about buying this thing, seller states restoration does not affect artwork, but unless my eyes deceive me, I am seeing all kinds of colour touch in many of the red areas on the cover, namely, Cap's punching glove, in the Nazi sign behind the two guys shooting at him in the back, Hitler's tie, half the bubble Bucky is in, and the second red bar behind the main title, etc. Not only that, but the staples looked cleaned and/or replaced. I think this particular seller buys restored books, breaks them out, and then sells them at 80-100% of unrestored prices. Or am I completely off base with what I think I'm seeing? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAPTAIN-AMERICA-1-1941-CLASSIC-HITLER-COVER-/111436273604?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item19f21e97c4 -J.
  13. It's in my sig line. Here is a larger, cr@ppy camera phone picture of it: One of only 9 slabbed of these in the world. -J.
  14. The cover on my 9.8, 667 is pretty white. If u want to post a scan of yours I'll compare it to mine and let you know. -J.
  15. A smart phone picture will do. Here is a smart phone picture... You have phenomenal taste in modern books Kryten. -J.
  16. A 7.5 recently went for as high as $7k on ebay recently. -J.
  17. You're right about ASM variant collectors. I speak from personal experience. The 667 is significantly rarer than the 678, almost to the point of absurdity. Spidey may not be doing much on the cover of it but the photo-realistic artwork is breath taking IMO. It is probably the prize of my ASM variant run and of anyone else who has been lucky enough to track one down. I would imagine that it will always trade noticeably higher than the 678 due to that rarity. -J.
  18. There's something disturbing about the whole cover. The entire concept of the alien symbiote caught in the midst of consuming Mary Jane is disturbing. Even more so if you're readily familiar with the original panel the cover is referencing. Obviously it's extreme rarity plays a large part in its FMV, but there are certainly tons of other rare variants out there that aren't even worth cover price. So the cover obviously resonates on more than one level. (thumbs u -J.
  19. It was actually a 1:50, and was released when ASM sales were barely making the top 20. Some have estimated the print run as high as 800, but from what I've seen on the market (and census) and relative to other 1:50's, I would put the distribution closer to about half that. People can think whatever they like about the artwork, I find it to be better than most of what I see today that isn't by a Campbell, Granov, or Dell'Otto, and it is a wicked homage that immediately catches the eye and became an instant classic. -J.
  20. Cool story snikt. Hard to believe raw copies go for $200 more than what you paid for a 9.6 SS just a couple years ago. Something about these mash up covers, when done right, can really click. Are there really only 4 boardies with copies? -J.
  21. +1 (Never +1'd a comment from 2 yrs ago). I never subscribe to the "what I collect is awesome and what you collect sucks", so I'll leave my opinions to myself in regards to this particular cover. I agree with this. Especially in what is basically an "appreciation" thread. I mean come on people should show a little class. You don't like it, don't buy it (assuming you could even find one). But why waste time trying to convince people who are posting in a thread dedicated to it why "they" shouldn't like it? The near 15000 views this thread has puts you in the minority anyway. That, and the market at large has decided how awesome the cover actually is as well and driven the price on what few copies are out there through the roof. -J.
  22. Another nice book snikt. Looks high grade too are you going to slab it? -J.
