  1. Nothing wrong with fake ones... I'm a huge fan of those things. +1 (thumbs u -J.
  2. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that "not going down anytime soon" and "good investment" may not be the same thing. I'm glad I have copies, but I'm a seller at $70, not a buyer looking for a return. This time will be different. -J. Sarcasm aside.. Thats a very accurate statement sir.. 200,000 pre-orders for a character that's not optioned for TV/film VERY different Not sure what you think that proves but okay. -J.

  4. Don't worry, you have the one that actually matters. -J. , I hear you! But I also want his 1st appearance... His first (non-story) picture (at the end) only meant to tease the 181. . -J.

  6. This is probably one of those books where GPA is a trailing indicator. A 6.5 just went for $4500. I would probably put a 7.0 at maybe $4700-$5200, and a 7.5 at $6500-$7000. -J.
  7. That is the conventional wisdom with the vast, vast majority of variants. This one has already defied the odds and has turned into a modern variant grail of sorts. Particularly for spidey collectors and completists. The combination of overall rarity, rarity in 9.8 (no recorded sales in two years), the character "mash up" subject matter, and only one (usually raw) copy coming up for sale every couple of months seems to pushing the book in an unconventional way. Now 70 watchers on this particular copy, which doesn't surprise me because that looks like a solid 9.8 candidate to me as well, and I haven't seen many of those. -J.
  8. This copy just listed and has over 50 watchers already in less than a day.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-678-Venom-Variant-RAW-NOT-CGC-/281584030212?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item418fb75204 Looks really sharp. Possible 9.8 candidate ? -J.
  9. This quote reinforces the likelihood of an "alternate universe" story line. -J. Ya, some nice alternate universe background, before she joins secret wars BATTLEWORLD with every other character. I'm definitely interested to see how they do this since the character is premised on a "what if" concept that seems to like to play off different incarnations/re-imaginings of other existing characters as well. I'm almost thinking it would be more interesting leaving her in her own "alternate universe" where all of those different takes on other characters can actually happen, rather than her being one of three other featured "spider-women" in the same continuity. -J. She was never a "what if" character, she exists in another universe which was what the in continuity spider verse was all about. She was always meant to interact with the 616 universe. She's definitely a "what if?" type character, I'm not even sure how that could be debated. I think I just personally prefer her in her own "universe". -J.

  12. Thanks. I wanted the GSXM #1 and the XM #94 for the Art Review Trilogy, but got smoked on the prices of the other two., I had to have the 181, though, so that's where my money went. There are more Marvel Art Review books coming up in the next auction I will be eyeing for purchase. Hey viking, have you noticed that since you picked up your sweet looking 9.6 that the prices of a couple of other 9.6's on ebay have now been raised to about what you got yours for ? -J. Have they really...? Nope, I haven't paid attention, but wow. I guess the next issue will be if they actually sell at that price point or not. I just need to get me a really nice #180 before they spike up. It's weird Wolverine is starting to get back issue attention right now, as he isn't the focus of any movies, and isn't appearing in any comics at all right now. Goofy goofy market... Reminds me of the good old days ! -J.

  14. Wow. Whoa. Someone just pulled the trigger on another 9.8 at the same price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/INCREDIBLE-HULK-181-cgc-9-8-1st-wolverine-/371242822957?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item566fcbed2d -J.
  15. Bubble bubble toil and trouble... For that kind of money you can buy a really nice copy of Gwen Stacy's actual first appearance. At this rate it will be worth as much as a low grade AF 15 by the end of February. -J.
  16. Awesome colours on that ! Big time congrats! (thumbs u -J.
  17. That book may not be trimmed. Those are known for having a jagged edge like that as a printing defect. Even some 9.8's have that. -J.
  18. A treasure in any condition indeed. (thumbs u -J.
  19. Looks like even the 9.8's are starting to show signs of life again. Somebody just popped one for $13k. http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-INCREDIBLE-HULK-181-Wolverine-1st-app-CGC-9-8-NM-MT-Marvel-Comics-1974-/171522500981?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item27ef89a975 -J.
  20. It's about time you slacker! Trying to hold out on us! Had scanner trouble for the #1. Glad you started the thread though it was long overdue. I'm wondering if we'll see one of the 3, 9.8 editorial variants on here. Neat pedigree #1 you have there by the way. (thumbs u -J.
  21. Yup you're right. Once again, skipped breakfast. Sorry for the bad numbers guys. -J.
