  1. Here's my copy. Thought I might have overpaid a little for it at the time when I picked it up a year and a half ago. What a difference a week makes. -J.
  2. Graded: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-361-CGC-9-8-White-Pages-Hot-Venom-Carnage-Movie-/171532716283?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item27f02588fb -J.
  3. Yes it is. Definitely not a surprise at all. (thumbs u -J. Of course, that's the end of the story, and must be very satisfying for you. The great ASM 361 first/second print debate is over, and you are the winner. Thank you for your utterly meaningless input, and I wasn't aware that there ever was a debate. A couple of anomalous higher sales of the second printing several weeks ago does not a "debate" make. Despite the difference in "rarity" of the second printing, it is still the second printing. The actual "key" is the first printing, and that will be the one that is more valuable and sought after by far more people, and, like 99.99% of every other book, will remain the one with a much higher FMV. (thumbs u -J.
  4. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet on a book you really want. -J.
  5. Lordy, 1k for a 9.0? Is this the rarest marvel jsc cover ? As far as JSC variant covers go, it is very rare, but not the rarest. Either way it is one of, if not the most desirable ones. -J.
  6. A 9.0 SS just went for $1k. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=77&item=400799195165&rt=nc&print=all&si=kqv78Dyg7sTGbH4Sho9EZbd4jno%3D Not bad. -J.
  7. Except that CGC page colour notation is not every consistent. So I put very little weight on it. Why can't the same argument be applied to the grade ? The difference between a 9.2 and 9.4 may simply be the day of the week so why pay more for the 9.4 ? Problem is, I have just very recently spoken with the powers that be at CGC and they were very clear that the "PQ" on the label is merely a snapshot in time. It can and has been known to degrade in the slab, even if stored in the most ideal conditions. Obviously if a slab is abused, the structural grade can deteriorate as well, but that can usually be detected visually through the slab. However the "PQ" on the label may or may not even be what you are getting by the time you are buying the slab. So there really is no reason to pay more or less for it one way or another, unless the book has "slightly brittle" or "brittle" pages. -J.
  8. Check with spiderman-on-tilt on the boards he usually seems to have a couple available. -J.
  9. Yes it is. Definitely not a surprise at all. (thumbs u -J.
  10. The bigger, more expensive, hotter and/or the rarer the key, the less it seems to matter. Books with "CR/OW" pages on the label set GPA highs all the time. The biggest and far more consistent detractor is marvel chipping. Move over to the golden age and big books with "brittle pages" set new GPA highs all the time as well. (thumbs u -J.
  11. Looks like this book has popped right along with FF 45. It certainly is the most easily identifiable and self-contained single issue "first appearance" of the lot of movie announcements books. It really is nice to see this character getting this kind of exposure. -J.
  12. Wtf?! http://www.ebay.com/itm/FANTASTIC-FOUR-52-First-Black-Panther-Key-Issue-/301375461497?redirect=mobile&nma=true&si=RgD8672UacyTR%252Bjk7ERwAehdhLc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -J.
  13. +1 Simply stunning copy Leroy. Congrats on the pick up! -J. Thanks Now I won't bug you about selling yours anymore. With as nice a copy as your copy is, now people will be bugging you. -J.

  15. A lot of the restored AF 15s I'm seeing have the "demon trimming" and seem to be selling just fine as well. Are you sure about this? I was just looking at GPA and the gap seems substantial: August 2014 7.0 $41,000 7.0 SA Trimmed $6,274 Seem to be similar price differentials at other grades for books sold at about the same time. Or am I missing something? You aren't. (thumbs u The price for restored has certainly increased over time, but the relative value of a restored book remains about 20-50% of comparable blue label grades. -J.
  16. I'm really not observing this to be true for AF 15. If you can point me to some example where one of these is selling for 20% of Blue label I'll also pony up a finder fee like Ninja. (NOTE: Exception here is GLOD books with married pages. Those don't seem to be selling for larger %s of blue.) Heritage ? -J.
  17. Rule of thumb, for even the bigger keys as well, is restored value will be 20-50% of blue label value of a comparable grade. (thumbs u -J.
  18. Was wondering where my old copy ended up. Right around $6100 with 4 hours to go. Such a great looking copy...would love to have it for my personal collection. And double the Avengers #1 of the same grade and PQ by the same seller. I expect the gap in final sales price will narrow significantly by the final hammer. -J. Agree, looks like it already is. Closed about 2700 more than the avengers 1. A fairly sizable spread actually. -J.

  20. Mighty fine copy ! Welcome to the club. -J.
  21. No...but it wouldn't surprise me to see it hit $400 $400-$500, no? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fantastic-Four-52-CGC-6-0-FN-First-Black-Panther-Beauty-Grade-L-K-/331351146877?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4d2611417d -J.
