  1. It didn't used to be like this here sadly. This past year or two its shown up in all areas. The water is chummed and the frenzy is in full effect. That's not far from the truth. I mean really this used to be a good place to exchange information with your peers. Now its full of newer members with agenda's. Axes to grind among older members that even carry over from other comic sites from years back. It gets old seeing the same members come in here and promote their books, website, manipulate data, or rumors. Many times they don't even use any factual data to support their information. It gets old. I am sure I am not the only one seeing it. -J.
  2. More than CG? I think not. Wait... if you are baiting me, I would appreciate an emoticon. Sorry I did not clarify, I was talking about the most out of the " Age" forums. Modern does have it's fair share, but for some reason copper has almost as many, and they go on for pages. I believe it is because most of the posters in this section and modern are dealers. Which would make sense, since these are the comic ages with the largest print runs and most available copies out there for people to sell. A lot of ribbing, puffing and jockeying for professional advantage going on. (thumbs u -J. or comments like this... You insult people and expect no repercussions. Try and have a touch of class about you. There was no "insult" in my observational post in the least. -J. You mean, other than the fact that it's not even remotely true? Your opinion, thank you for sharing it. Carry on. (thumbs u -J. You cannot dismiss facts as "your opinion." You try often, but it always fails under scrutiny. You have consistently accused people who disagree with you of having ulterior motives, and while that is certainly true some of the time, for some of the people, it's not anywhere near as true as often as you have accused it. And it is accusing people of ulterior motives, as you have done, and as The Resurrection rightfully pointed out, that is the insult. And no, most of the people posting in this section are NOT dealers, despite what you wish to believe. Carry on. (thumbs u Um yeah, I think you (and the resurrection) read way more into that then you really needed to. And I've never accused anyone of anything on here. Unlike you, I don't try to make things (nor do I take things) personal on these boards. I am pretty sure your "for professional advantage" comment can be considered a low blow by most. You have a very strong opinion, but when push comes to shove can't back up what you say. From my observations you are a pot stirrer. There was no need for your comments, and there is nothing positive added to the discussion from it. I don't think I went out on a very long limb by saying that most of the posters in this thread seem to be dealers. Someone asked why things seemed to get snarky on here frequently, some gave their opinions, and I gave mine. I apologize if my observation struck you close to home, but I am free to have my opinions, whether you think they are "strong" or not. As a paying customer to more than a few of the people who post in this thread (I am not a dealer) maybe it would do you well to take into account how other potential customers might also be viewing some of what goes on. I noticed the thread got back on point until you and RMA decided to chide me for having an opinion that evidently triggered a defense mechanism. It would probably be best to let it continue thus, as I usually find a lot of the information that the frequent posters (including you and RMA) to be quite valuable in general. -J.

  7. Very nice copy congrats! Wicked sig line too my man ! (thumbs u -J.
  8. For movie news. At least five movies for the Panther. Let's see some more of your sexy copies! -J.
  9. Easily the coolest movie announcement of the lot, with the most straight forward "first appearance" book of any of the other announced titles. Everyone have their copy of FF 52 already? -J.
  10. TT 1 states it is relaying "the history of the Teen Titans" and it starts that history with the events in BB 54. It then states that Wonder Girl was added to a pre-existing team in BB 60. I absolutely agree that team was not called the Teen Titans until BB 60. No one disputes that. But, the team that became known as the "Teen Titans" was formed prior to BB 54. Which begs the question: What is more important - the first appearance of the team or the team name? (thumbs u -J.
  11. I think we can stick a fork in this debate. Frigging Teen Titans 1 states that the history of the Teen Titans starts with BB 54. It also states that what happened in BB 60 was that DC responded to the "call for the addition of Wonder Girl to the teen team ...." That text eliminates all doubt. The team originated in BB 54. Not to stir the pot here either way but that text does specifically state that they were not "introduced to comicdom" as the "TEEN TITANS" until BB60, once wonder girl was added. Just sayin..... -J. What it says is that "we took the lead of a number of fans who called for the addition of Wonder Girl to the teen team, and we introduced them to the comicdom as the Teen Titans." Four important facts to take from TT 1 text comments: (1) DC views BB 54 as the starting point of the "history of the Teen Titans"; (2) Fans at the time viewed Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad as a "team," and lobbied for Wonder Girl to join the team; (3) DC agreed to make Wonder Girl an "addition" to the "team"; and (4) They introduced the team name "Teen Titans" in BB 60. Keep it up! You're doing great!! If we agree on (3) and (4), e.g., that the team pre-dated Wonder Girl (hence she was an "addition" to the "team") and that all BB 60 did was name the team, then you're back on the reservation with the official DC position. Semantic arguments make my head hurt. Playing devil's advocate here.... Could that paragraph not also be construed as the "Team" not becoming the "Teen Titans" until wonder girl was added in BB60? Disclaimer: I am not a dealer and own neither book. -J.

  13. I'm certainly surprised that EOSV #2 has been so high for so long. Interesting twist on known characters and a super-cool costume must go a long way. I'm surprised as well. A 1:25 variant ratio makes it a pretty common book, and the idea is so obviously "high concept" and "made for cosplay" that it isn't one of those issues that "sneaks up on the market" so to speak. The artwork is nothing to write home about either. Maybe I'm missing something. -J.
  14. The first printings are known to have a similar mis-wrap. -J.
  15. (thumbs u I was thinking between $300k-$350k. Maybe $375k on a good day. -J.
  16. What an asinine asking price. -J.
  17. Yes, folks have suggested that it is "rare". I am suggesting that the primary (if not only) reason the second printing has value is because of a mistaken perception of "rarity" that is based entirely on what is currently on the census. Very little from the copper age is actually "rare", and the second printing of asm 361 certainly is not, as evidenced by the 10-20 raw copies that are readily available at anytime. -J.
  18. Because more corrected labels weren't the result of the flood of CGC 9.8 copies and 9.8 floods from CGC never drive down prices (regardless of any issue notes on the label) and that's not the argument you're making about ASM 361 second prints? Actually that has happened multiple times (hulk 181 and x men 94 being two of the most high profile and notorious examples I can think of right off the top of my head). It is generally know that it is a spectacularly bad idea to seek out and pay beyond top dollar for a book simply because it currently "appears rare" or "rare in high grade" on the census. At least if you are concerned about "not losing money on the deal". Particularly with copper age books, where there is very little that is actually "rare". -J. Sandman 8b ? No. Sandman 8b is in fact verifiably rare, and sells for several hundreds of dollars in even lower grades raw as a result. -J.

  20. Yes. For me, any book that becomes worth or is worth more than $200 gets slabbed. And I won't even touch a "key" that isn't in a slab already. It's just too expensive of a gamble. (thumbs u -J.
  21. Thank you for correcting your statement, and clarifying what you meant to say. I aim to please. -J. That's good, because this says something completely different than what you originally said. I mean...I know that you believe you understand what you think you said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you said is not what you meant. Being willing to accept correction is a valuable skill.
