The Blue Bolt 105 made a 7k jump today... 30k is definitley not out of the question. Will be fun to see where this lands. -
Shout out to all the board members in Hawaii

My brother lives in Maui/Kihei and there hasn't been anything notable to speak of going on there yet, thankfully. -
Is Hulk 1 a better investment than Hulk 181
MustEatBrains replied to Comic102's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Buy the highest graded copy of Hulk 1 you can afford. The prices on the 181 have gotten too insane with the supply available IMO -
Aaarrghh....I knew it was coming

Heritage sales tax hit me in Joisey like 2 auctions ago. 7% I think on top of the 20 BP. C'est la vie. -

Reholder/Date Graded Problem?
MustEatBrains replied to Professor K's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
IMO and there's some general consensus that grading can be "tight" or "loose" at certain times and some folks will look at grade date in conjuction with the book itself when assessing a purchase. -
Reholder/Date Graded Problem?
MustEatBrains replied to Professor K's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I was wondering about this as well. I've been looking at this auction on CLink: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Ddetective%2Bcomics%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1268926&id=1268926&itemType=0 The grade date is 2000 but it's in a second gen holder. Not sure exactly when they switch from the old labels to second gen but I suspect this was a reholder that retained the original grade date. Does anyone know when the first 2nd gen slabs were introduced? For the record I think reslabbed books should retain the original grade date only if the slab is undamaged and does not require a regrading. Certification Information Certification #: 0004380015 Title: Detective Comics Issue: 36 Issue Date: 2/40 Issue Year: 1940 Publisher: D.C. Comics Grade: 3.0 Page Quality: CREAM Label Text: Tape along entire spine. Tape on 1st wrap. Grade Date: 04/04/2000 Category: Universal -
Sadly it came with it on the case and not the bag. I need to make time to remove with WD-40....

Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!
MustEatBrains replied to Shield's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
So cool, congrats on the score! -
I would ask the vet what is his favorite book in his collection is, request they take a pic with it, presumably in his wheelchair with a piece of paper with my boardname written out on it, send it to me and I'd give what I was selling free.

Ditto I see a 6.0

Only one book I'm going to try to snipe on the CL auction. Still betting I'll pay through the nose for it. -

GPA Analysis and Past eBay Sales No Longer Accurate, Warning!
MustEatBrains replied to Squad008's topic in Comics General
Question, I don't know this seller but was wondering why this was not reported to GPA. Looks like it sold then perhaps relisted at same price with no bids again but not sure. I see a "private" bidder as the winner. Wondering if it was shilled. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-Comics-26-CGC-2-5-O-W-pgs-Human-Torch-Timely-1943-c-19566/362346734180?hash=item545d8c6264:g:7c8AAOSwxLVbGvAT -
