Stumbled across this one at eBay tonight and am like, Baker, really? The box says so, cough.

But maybe possible? An article on BC from just last year makes an argument for some sort of proof or portfolio piece or something.

I'm gonna stick with no.  What's the consensus on this one?

That is not Baker art. And it would be nice for the Bleeding Cool author to point out exactly "the undeniably "Bakerish" aspects to the piece overall". I do not see them.

Without a scintilla of proof, he also states, "Baker's involvement in this cover is certainly possible, and perhaps more likely than not."

Baker must have liked that one, too, to give it the full page treatment.  I'd love to have a copy of this one.

Since It Rhymes With Lust was digest sized, the art was laid out differently than a regular comic book, allowing for oversized panels throughout. I believe the book contains 12 full page panels in all.

I have noticed, or at least it's my sensation, that Matt Baker/Kamen Rulah has too much in common with the actress Jane Russel. Does anybody know if Baker took her in count at the time to create Rulah's aethetic?

That cover is all Jack Kamen, as noted by several sources, including Grand Comics Database. And any stories inside that are attributed to Baker are followed by a question mark, because if it is his art, it's some of the most awkward looking art he ever drew.

OK, since there's been some Baker/Not Baker chatter regarding some of these covers, how about this story that Overstreet credits to Baker and the GCD keeps the question marks on.  I guess I'm seeing some Baker (women's figures and faces) but perhaps the hands of other artists just about everywhere else.  From All-Famous Police Cases #7, "Death Is Its Only Reward":

Even though it was first printed in All-Famous Police Cases #7 in 1952, this story looks like Iger Shop art which had been done years before. The female faces and most of the male faces are Baker, but other hands are apparent in the work, particularly in the inking.

Comic Book Plus says the story is “most likely a leftover Inspector Dayton story from ATOMIC COMICS.” That sounds right. The last issue of Atomic was in 1946, and this art is the kind of stuff Baker was turning out at the Iger Shop then, not like the work he was doing in 1952 at St. John.

We are given five days each round to grade the books but were given only a 30 minute window to comment on whether an error which may have a material impact would be allowed to stand.

I'll second that emotion! Let 's see how the rankings change with the 2nd round scores. This kind of error could hurt those who know how to grade for such defects and boost those who don't.

Since two sold of three Spider-man #7's right away (very late in the evening), let's increase the donation totals available to seven (7) on my end. So, there are now five (5) of these available at $75 each shipped (estimated shipping date Monday, May 22).

God bless everyone in this thread so far with their selfless donations being monetary or product.

    I'll take 1, please.
