  1. Is your hotel in Fife, WA or closer to Puyallup con? I will try to attend on the Saturday before Father's Day Sunday.
  2. Best reading for me on FCBD by far was 'Tex Patagonia,' a Western comic with good artwork that seemed to be from Heavy Metal mag or Metal Hurlant.
  3. I believe a well-known CA comic dealer wound up with the JLA #1 apparent nm 'file copy.' I purchased it from said dealer at SDCC for under the Dupcak mail order listed price of $900. I had buyer's remorse when I took it back to the SDCC hotel to inspect it closer (trimmed) but did not return the key to the SDCC dealer, as it was still the best copy I could find at that con.
  4. I had most of the late SA and BA Marvel runs completed by circa 1979 so bought my first published page of Dave Sim early 'Cerebus' original art that year mainly because I enjoyed the humorous writing, art, inking and he was in Canada. Might have got my first commissioned Arthur Adams full body pencil drawing of Galactus around 1980 for the princely sum of $10 for, at the time, a no-name artist. Still have it.
  5. 1 LCS let you pick up 4 FCBD comics of your choice, but I elected to grab 3 and then use a chit to enter a random draw for 1 of 3 DC toy/figures.About 1/2 of the crowd just came in, grabbed the 4 freebies, said Thank You, then sprinted out the door to do family things. Pikachu and Gold(?) Fish comic most popular with the kids. Getting harder to find Marvel BA at 'reasonable' prices from the bins:
  6. My LCS #1 allows fans to choose max 4 of their choice on FCBD or from 1st issue spec overstock from 30 years ago, or 2, if there are thicker graphic novel/humor 'freebies.' LCS #2 has 2 mystery packs meaning the adult or kid's (10 years and under) pack each contain a pre-selected mix of 6 to 7 FCBD comics.
  7. Regular cover to #1 is an homage to Frazetta's 'Conan, the Destroyer' painting. Very nice cover: both of them.
  8. Same with me. Only owned Action #10 and #13 with the best centerfold of the GA Action or Superman run:
  9. I knew if I held onto these slow sellers for enough decades eventually they would be collectible or hyped:
  10. For me, there were about 3 tear jerker moments whether it was a sad or happy family scene. First 2/3 of End Game a bit slow (as others have posted) but I was surprised at how the directors did a good job tieing together up to 20 different heroes/heroines and their film stories (e.g. Ancient One).
  11. Please offer me this kind service next time I visit Calgary Expo. Was attendance around 80k or down due to the AB 'recession' and blizzard conditions on the weekend? Was greggy satisfied buying $2 comics from Clobberin' Time?
  12. Due to the expansion in square footage of the hall, will comic or art vendors no longer be restricted to 2 dealer's tables each ?
  13. I sometimes trade my vf overstock for used LP's and soundtracks at the record warehouse. He likes vf/vf+ nice shape Independent press and DC overstocked comics from 30 years ago boom and bust.
  14. Did not see any in BC, Canada. Darn. Nice collectible for Marvel zombies.
  15. The majority of the Mister Woo high grade SA Marvel collection that was slabbed by Voldy came from an original owner who was vending at a Portland, OR comicon. This included the early ASM and Silver Surfer runs. I believe the high grade early FF's from this vendor (who has since retired in Australia) where grabbed at that same comicon by a large mail order dealer from Castlerock, WA.
  16. I have never seen such a reasonably priced HUGE 11' x 11' vendor's booth for only $75.
  17. Strange marketing: 'First app. of your mom.' Enjoy the 20 cm of snow this weekend. Watch out for the high winds, and don't accidentally put 1 of Andy thirdgreenham's orange color coded CGC slab boxes into the Clobberin' Time van. ha ha.
  18. Try to visit painter Joe Jusko and other comic artist/inkers in the Big 4 Bldg for sigs, as I heard they did not have a line up. Guess fans lining up for Avengers: End Game movie or shopping in main Calgary expo hall first. Hope you and greggy were able to score some choice comics. Mister Woo almost hit 3 deer/caribou outside of Golden on his drive home to Vancouver, BC.
  19. Is that joeypost with the dark hoodie on freezing in a real Canadian winter ... indoors? Sounds like a wonderful con so far with more energy than Fan Expo Vancouver.
  20. Can't recall if this is from Flash Comics #2 or #4. Think #4 was 1st interior Hawkman art by Moldoff per Overstreet.
  21. About 2 years ago, I stayed at a hotel across from casino in Fife, WA which is south of Seattle. Complimentary basic breakfast, free parking; think it was still about $100 US/night. Puyallup good for getting quality sigs on vintage comics or Amazing World of DC mags.
  22. Do smaller mom and pop comic vendors sell there? I don't see a link for the cost of a vendor's booth: 8' x 8' or 10' x 10'. I like the design of the Puyallup blue gate hall. Lots of parking across the street.
  23. Not quite as good as 'Black Panther' movie for me but Shazam had a lot of heart, and a solid young family cast of actors. Glad Calgary expo got 3 of the lead Shazam cast actors for sigs. Also for those that are about to see the movie, there is an extra clip after the credits that foreshadows Shazam II movie plot.
