  1. Blasphemy! # 15 is one of the greatest covers of the run also! West Interestingly, I think #15 is the best Torch/Subby covers after Marvels 1-10 Taste is personal...to me something changed about Schomburg after issue #13. Not sure what...maybe it was Everett helping out that made Subby look different on issues 4, 9 and 10...and maybe his mood was a bit darker and he was less confident so he took his time on the Torch issues 5, 7, 11 and 13...and maybe everything was still fresh and new enough to inspire issues 3, 6 and 8 but after that to me he began to change. The covers are still great...just not my cup of tea.
  2. Gotta love Marvel's response to Robin...Robin is always in "corner-shock" and Bucky is always hog-tied.
  3. I was thinking that about the brunette behind her...
  4. Wow, Joanna if you would take the time to photograph every page of that story it would be terrific! If it's too much work I totally understand but that Harem story looks great!
  5. Bill: I agree with the rest that is a gorgeous #7 and I love that cover. I've always felt that the covers for #5,#7 and #13 are like a little mini set, and would look breathtaking beside each other as a subset. Jim Not a bad idea Jim. To me the great Schomburg covers stop at #13 so my run is focused on #1-13....but your idea sounds terrific. All three covers share the same characteristics that make them great...battleship steel walls, men in green suits, the Torch in a last second action sequence. I ran with your idea Jim,and wowza they look pretty together! Now I know this is a Timely thread but about that Action #7
  6. Yup. If they are forum members you need to deal with them about it first. Another option would be to post scans of the books in the grading section and ask for grade input and take your discussion from there. I don't see any reason to make a private transaction public unless you are being defrauded. R.
  7. You can PM Flaming Telepath, Goldust, 1koko, Brasseye or a handful of others that live there and they know for sure. R.
  8. nice... now get Joe Simon to sign it and have a SS book..... I'm not a sig series fan...but this book does look spectacular in a Mylar.
  9. thanks for the props on the r.r. what do you think of the book i got today? I knew I should have bought this book on Sunday. I didn't want to spend all my mad money in one day and figured Rick would still have it when I saw him next in FLA in two weeks Classic story about hemming and hawing getting you nowhere. I'm very happy for the both of you, and now I can back to looking at books that us mere mortals can own. Jim You have no idea how hard I was trying to make it come together too. There was a lineup for that book!
  10. I remember that story. The book that got you hooked! close; cap 9 from mark mcdermott [now a big shot original art dealer] was the "hooked me" book. had a few caps [for a long while the only timely run i collected] before the first more fun comics g.a. purchase, tho' i had bought a decent amount of silver from pons, ff 4 being the first. OK, I knew it was a Cap book that got you into GA ....just wasn't sure which one. Anyhow...received this baby a few weeks ago but was too busy to post it. Kudos to Phil from VT Comics. Probably my favorite Cap cover ever!
  11. thanks for the props on the r.r. what do you think of the book i got today? Can I have first shot when you upgrade? Very, very nice. Wow. That book is so nice in hand.
  12. Did you just pick this up on Ebay recently....I know I got outbid on a nice copy, can remember if it was CGC'd or not No this was part of a run of Original Owner books that Dave Kapelka had in NYC. Every Fiction House book he had looked like this. Harley snagged the Wings #90 which he is going to have graded.
  13. Well my basement flooded tonite. Pretty bad. Might have to list some books to pay for that if Insurance does not cover. Boy did I need that now.
  14. I now own all 3 of my top 3 favorite Fiction House GGA cover. I'll post the 3rd one when it shows. You've seen this. and now you can see my upgraded #26.
  15. I'm going to spam plaster this book in every thread possible!
  16. Thanks, I'm especially happy with the mystic. PQ might not be great, but the cover colors are awesome! I'd say your chances are even money you'll get a Cream to Off-White on a page quality review. You'd like to think so but I cracked and resubbed an old label lt/ow book 3 times (in front of all the boys in Chicago at Richard Evan's booth last year) and it came back lt/ow all 3 times...too bad as the book had 9.6 structure but was pegged as an 8.5 for life because of that. Good luck.
  17. Roy, I assume you've seen this one. Second row back, on the far right... Yup. I have. It makes me cry every time.
  18. I'd have a tough time letting that JIM #83 go. BTW, that JIM is easily a $100,000+ book today for any of you doubters. A 9.2 sold on Comiclink for $66,000 in a matter of hours.
  19. For all of you that don't check the marketplace often I'll be adding books as he days go by. I currently have these up for sale. Thanks for looking.
