Justice League of America Collecting Thread
VintageComics replied to john72tex's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Does anybody own the JLA #29 CGC 9.4 that sold on Comiclink a few years ago? I've always wondered where that book went. R. -
That FQ is a super cool book. My LCS has one on the wall right now that I'm thinking of picking up. It doesn't fit in with my collecting interests but I've never seen another.

For what it's worth Ron is the reason Louise and I got into collecting Matt Baker. He showed us the first Baker cover we ever noticed and got us addicted when he flashed this book in front of us. After that it became a disease I tell ya...

Ron, nice to see you here!

Nice use of the collective "we" Anybody find me a copy? I didn't know "we" were supposed to find you a book. I didn't know "we" didn't have a sense of humor. Yea, like we're supposed to understand Canadian! Please speak American. Hey, the graemlin was in American. -

Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!

This wonderful Trolley book just arrived courtesy of that fine, swingin' gent from Lafayette. I actually found out two weeks ago that his real name is Billy Parker. All this time I thought it was all some elaborate joke. -

That's an interesting response it is an interesting response to an interesting book It's interesting that you booked that response. This is getting less interesting by the second..... I booked for the exit after the second reponse. I second that...interestingly enough... erased my previous response just cause I wanted to -

Don't know if this is the same buy but there is a Gene Arnold in Texas that ran a website called Movie Posters.Com He apparently got into collecting after being introduced to movie posters at a 1965 Comic Con.

Used to be in the 1000's. I sold off most of my bronze and silver to make way for some big GA purchases. I have about 50-100 core SA and BA books left. My true collection now consists of a handful of GA books and a few SA keys. R.

I would take the book that sold for a dime as I think there's something different about a comic that was sold for it's own sake vs. something packaged as a bonus or given away. It's that "specialness" that drives my collecting interest. MPFW is still very important because I'm convinced that Subby was created for it and it was the first time it was put into a comic book, regardless of whether that comic was actually distributed. I'm going to have to default using Bedrock logic, which Richard obviously forgot about and take them both. -
Gang, just want to give a shout out to y'all about a collector/dealer named Ed Robertson. I got his contact info from a boardie who visited Wondercon a few weeks ago when I heard he had an MMC #13. We closed a deal on the book and he was extremely prompt in communication and shipping, reasonably priced and very professional. Here is his contact info: Ed Robertson Comic Book and Sportscard Collector rrobert4_us@yahoo.com cell- 602-741-9097 Here is a short list of books he currently has for sale. He's got plenty of others. I'd highly recommend him. Have a Cigar! Golden Age only....!

I would love to compare your autograph now to those from your high school years. still identical... but, the hand writing class I took (admittedly, was years ago), details certain characteristics that you learn or use early on, that don't change, even during maturation... Gator if I put up a scan of my two sigs (early and late) you'd never know they were linked. -

ME neither. I do see some similarities and would not rule it out at all. Especially since both the seller and the man were both in PA. My sig in high school was much like Winter's. Easy to read. Now it's an ineligible squiggle and it has definitely evolved along the way. R. -

I personally think it's a shame that such a key book doesn't receive more love because of it's cover. I wonder how this book would have affected the market if it had been around all these years like the other big keys. Because I'm relatively new to GA is there somewhere I can read up on this find of MPFW? R. -
