  2. I am going to go back to the Museum and look at all the other books I want and see if it works again! That's the way it always works. It's call "The Secret"
  3. ...wonder when the first kid ever put a table cloth around his neck to play superhero was? What a great thread...I'm in awe of the some of the knowledge you guys posess and love it!
  4. It's even lovlier in person! Imagine what the patrons thought as we sat there geeking on GA books over lunch i couldn't believe it when that waitress looked over my shoulder and asked "did frank paul draw that cover?" you have to admit that surprised you. Your joking...seriously? I held that book and had serious thoughts about owning. It really does look spectacular in hand. Congrats BIlly.
  5. i don't see a number on it; is it an important book? My favorite con pic from Chicago this year is going to be you running from me so I can't land a huge wet kiss on you. I will videotape that one for posterity. Glad to see you have it in hand Roy!! If you ever sell that one, I want it. Based on the lineage I shared with you, that book has a lot of appeal for me. Not too mention it is the only key GA book I've never owned. Pons it's currently in Florida but for all intensive purposes the book is mine. Thanks and you got it brother. If I could afford to, I would give it to you. (thumbs u

  7. That's accurate. I have an extra set if anyone is interested. I have sold two sets for $1,200.00 each in the last year.
  8. I think you're right BB...the first thing I noticed when Baker began to catch my eye was that almost every great cover he had was made with some red in it. Great observation! I'm going to diagree with that observation. Chances are that Baker probably had nothing to do with the coloring decisions. I suspect color was done by a house staffer. And red is a good color choice because it's bright and catches the eye. P.S. Thanks for the Mysta scans. Love 'em! Really? I'm going to look into it deeper but I was pretty sure there was a pattern there.

  10. it was tucked into the book did CGC consider that to have an effect on the grade? And, semantics angle: who did the tucking? It'd be interesting if CGC suggested it and folded it in after a phone call discussion. If it were my book I wouldnt mind, but, it does go into interesting areas that some here Im sure would choose to dissect..... Trouble maker.
  11. Dino was in NY and I didn't meet him? DINO! he was just there friday...in and out Friday only but had a great time with Rick and a few fellow boardies! Roy, would have been great to hook up. :hi:Based on your NYCC report, you had a wild time! Yeah. Friday I was definitely in...and got out for Saturday.
  12. General consensus was that a blue label 6.5 appeared since that time and nothing has been verified first hand by Todd...just conjecture that this was the book.
  13. No, but the cover art is great. I think it's a good read, Jon. We're not in the Golden Age anymore.
  14. Was wondering who picked that book up...I was going to bid.
  15. Funny...I actually enjoy those side bars adn blurbs. They are the essence of the GA for me. Strange.
  16. ...and here you have touched upon something that I've never heard anyone mention before. This obviously shows the shortcomings of appreciating art through a 2 dimensional lense. That's why I don't disregard them...it's a matter of personal taste and how you percieve them at the time you are introduced to them that impacts people. It's like music...I will listen to and appreciate every type of music and aprpeciate it as a creation or an expression of someone's inner voice...from death metal to ionian chants from the middle ages..but I will pick and choose what I listen to in my spare time. R.
  17. #3 is definitely unorthadox from a design standpoint...and maybe that is the appeal it has...it's innocent in it's artistic appeal. I only mentioned Everett becuase I have heard others mention it...mostly with #9...I don't see it either... I can appreciate the later, busy covers...it's not that I can't appreciate them...it's just that it takes more effort for me to appreciate them...that's all. R.
