  1. Yes. I would have been very happy with this book (in its condition prior to shipping). I agree, it was very cool of my wife to buy this book.
  2. It is that time of year again when every true comic collector waits in hope that Santa (or their significant other) will leave them that special package under the tree; inside that package a special comic that will be treasured by the new owner and placed safely into his/her collection. These are the things that dreams are made of; dreams of that special loved one, that special day, and that specail book. Every year I have this dream and occasionally (perhaps if I am fortunate enough to make it onto the "nice" list, due to some clerical error) the dream comes true. This year, my wife decided she was going to try and make it just such a special year . She found a book on eBay that she thought I might like, made an offer to the seller, and purchased the book. Although she probably overpaid for the book, she was content knowing that I would have that special gift to open on Christmas morning. All was well in the world. Then something happen; something almost too terrible to tell; too terrible to even think about. The seller decided that it was a good idea to place this really nice conditioned book into a thin cardboard envelope (with only a thin backing board on each side for protection). I cringe to write more, but I cannot leave you without finishing the tale. The seller then mailed the thin cardboard envelope via first class mail (no insurance). Now I do not want to poke fun at our USPS, but if what happened to my package was "first class", I would hate to know what is done to anything less than fist class. Do they just light those packages on fire. A few days after the seller mailed the envelope it arrived (or at least part of it did). My wife was horrified and almost in tears as the mailperson handed her what was left of the package (envelope). I will say that the seller (who has numerous other comics listed for sale) did refund my wife's money in full and apologized for the incident, so I hold no grudge against him. I am just saddened that a beautiful piece of American history is now forever lost; lost because of the way it was packaged and lost because of the way it was handled. May you all have a Merry Christmas and may Santa (or your significant other) manage to find you that perfect book and safely ensure its arrival under the tree!
  3. Very happy! Kav has a way of drawing things that make you want to look at them and then look again and again. One example is the way he can draw hair. It is more life like than many other artist. I appreciate his work.
  4. @MAR1979 Thank you. In answer to your question.... The framed work was done by our very own board member @kav The CGC graded book, on the other hand, is all original.
  5. I really like how you recap everything on Page 1. That makes things a lot easier. GLWTS and keep them coming.
  6. I was saying that the "customer service" is crazy. The fact that you have to pay that much and wait that long is crazy!!! This is unacceptable!!!!! I don't think you are exaggerating at all. (my apologies if it came off that way). I am in FULL agreement with you!
  7. I would like to know what the "turn around" time was for the first "Promise" book.
  8. 09/21 - 43 since USPS showed package delivered. Today I received a Submission Acknowledgement from CGC. I then typed my tracking number into their system and it says... "Your package has either not been delivered or has not been scanned by our staff. Please check back in a couple of days."
  9. Apparently they are not scanning packages in the order they arrive. Maybe they just toss them in one big pile and then throw darts at them to decide which one to scan next. IDK. I appreciate you sending this info. Good luck with your grades!!
  10. Update - It is now 09/17 and CGC still has not even scanned my package yet. In what world is this considered acceptable customer service? USPS shows pacakage delivered on 08/09 and yet CGC still has not even scanned it as received. 39 days and counting.
  11. This is the screen I used. I typed my tracking number in and they say it is not in the system (even though USPS shows it as delivered 8/9). I have so many books that I would like to submit to CGC, but I just don’t have the patience to be without the books for the time it takes. And not scanning packages in when they arrive just makes me too nervous. On a positive note, this does save me a lot in grading fees. Lol.
  12. Just an update. I am beginning to become a little concerned. It has now been over 3 weeks since the USPS states they delivered my package to CGC and yet, CGC is still not showing the package as having even been scanned. I would like to know that they at least recieved the package (regardless of when they decide to grade it). Is it really that difficult to scan packages as they arrive??

Purchased a book from Ed last week. He was easy to deal with, shipped quickly, and packaged the book securely. Pleasure to do business with this awesome member of the board!
  14. Thank you for that update. I hope under the new management, things will improve. If your package was delivered two weeks ago and is still not showing up (not even scanned), that seems problematic. I wouldn't think scanning a package would require a lot of time. Thank you, again.
  15. I sent a package to CGC some time ago. USPS shows that it was delivered to CGC on 08/09 and yet when I type the trackng number into CGC, they say they don't have it (it has not yet been scanned). This seems strange to me. I get that they may be behind in actually "grading" books, however, shouldn't they at least be scanning packages as they arrive (so they can account for what is actually there)? IDK. Is this normal? I do not submit to CGC all that often, so maybe this is normal. Any insights from you guys that are far more experienced at this than I am?
  16. Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day. Apparently at MH, you can buy a complete set of this year's "free" comics for $100. https://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=direct&issue=33733656155 1 I don't even know what to say anymore...
  17. I will say that not everything is about making the most money (as I once believed companies were in business to do). If this was the case then why are there so many more “ R “ rated movies than say PG 13, even though PG 13 movies on average take in a lot more money. if I were a movie company, I don’t think I would ever make an R rated movie. It just does not seem to make as much good business sense as other rated movies. Just my thought. Perhaps off topic. If so, I apologize.
  18. My condolences on the loss of your brother. Losing a sibling has to be a very difficult thing.
