  1. Thank you, sir. If you and Sharon both give it positive feedback than I am happy to give it a try. It would be great to have something decent to watch. I tried that Katy Keene show when it first came out. After about 10 or 15 minutes, I shut it off. Glad they didn't waste film making more than one season of that. I am a big fan of Stargirl. I watch it with my daughter and it seems to have good, wholesome messages; the kind of things I want my children to be taught.
  2. I cannot agree more that Stargirl has not yet fallen into the pit that most of their other shows are in. In fact, I cannot wait until the next season starts. So far I give it an A+. I only saw pieces of the pilot episode of the Superman and Lois show. If you say it is better than Batwoman (give that an F), Kung Fu (another F), and Flash (give that a C), then maybe I will give it a watch. I do still watch Supergirl, which I find better than Batwoman, Kung Fu, and Flash, but nowhere near the level of Stargirl.
  3. IMO the CW must have a single set of writers who write ALL their shows (or at a minimum all the ones that I have watched).
  4. After the most recent episode, I deleted this show from any further recordings on the DVR.
  5. Price is everything! I would be willing to buy any condition book IF the price were right. If it was an Action 1 it could be brittle, mouse chewed, cat peed, and come from a house full of chain smokers. Just as long as the price matches the condition.
  6. What about Super Chuck (Mile High Comics) super ability to acquire more low value comics than anyone in the world and then price them at levels higher than Superman can jump???
  7. What a great book! Being a "math guy", I wondered what kind of a "return on investment" that would be. Some child's parents probably gave him a dime, back in 1940, and told him he should not waste his money on comic books. The child buys the book and now it has a FMV of $83K. How many other investments return an average of over 18.3% for 81 years? Good luck selling this awesome piece of comic history.
  8. I am not sure there are MORE collectors out there buying books. I am rather certain that many collectors who were once in their 20s and 30s with mortgages and babies, are now "older" and in poessesion of more "disposable income". This may be one of the key factors in the rise in "value".
  9. Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification and for taking all the time to write this up.
  10. I am not sure about all the rules for HOS. Thankfully these nominations do not come up as often as PL. Is it acceptable for Domo to nominate Dylan or does the aggrieved party (in this case @Polonsky have to make the nomination)? Just want to make sure everything is done in accordance to the rules.
  11. $10 . Seriously, this is absurd (as was the $12 nomination previously mentioned). If people don't care enough about their word to keep to their commitments, then why would anyone want to do business with them. If people would break their word over $10 or $12, then I am rather certain they would break it over larger sums as well. Once money becomes your master, that is a hard path to ever come off. Personally, I don't care if the tranaction was for a nickle (5 cents), if a person does not make good on the deal, then they should be nominated and kept on the list until they resolve the issue. As to those member who choose to be on the "lists" that are kept here (and make no mistake, it is a CHOICE to be on the list), you should be ashamed of yourselves.
  12. Words cannot express what you are going through right now and I am certain that I do not have the right words to bring you comfort. Please know, however, that I am saddened by your loss and can only imagine the grief you must be experiencing. I will pray for you and your family.
  13. I believe the great detectives of the board have answered all the questions far better than I could have. I want to thank the OP for sharing this really cool piece of comic history. Awesome find. I also want to thank everyone who took the time to research the other information found in this thread. I found it a great read. When I first started reading the thread and saw "Letter to Superman", I was a little confused by the 1939 date, as I am pretty certain the first "letters to the editor" page did not show up until Action #245 (in 1958). Then I read further and saw that it was likely for the Superman club. That makes sense. Once again, a great read and a great find.
  14. 100% agree with this. or as we wrote before we had these "like" buttons..... +1
  15. This entire thread makes me sad; seriously sad. Given the book is now listed for sale (at a significant increase) leaves little doubt (at least in my mind) that RS was motivated by $$$$ and not simply the desire to keep the book for his own collection. Not that either reason would be acceptable, however, purely breaking your word for profit just makes me sad. This was a deal made here on the boards (which is kind of like "family"). How does one get up in the morning and decide to cheat someone else, let alone cheat someone who is part of their "family"? I am saddened by this. I have never had a problem with Greg Reese. In fact I have purchased from him a number of times. I have always found him to be a good and honorable man. A good faimly man. I wonder if he knows about this entire situation and the history behind this book. I believe Greg is a man who always honors his word and I would be curious to know his thoughts on this. I would like to know if he would still be willing to list this book if he knew what RS had done. @gregreece
  16. If books are priced at the correct price point (FMV), then it does not surprise me that MCS would be out of stock. If their business model is to sell as many books as possible (not hoard them), then they would price them fairly and move them quickly (thus often being out of stock until they can aquire more).
  17. Not to be technical, however, no one is going to call this a robbery OR at least no one who knows the definition of robbery. Robbery: The action of taking property unlawfully from a person or place by force or threat of force. No one was assaulted, threatened, or even aware of the theft taking place and as such no robbery occurred. IF this occurred as claimed, the correct term would be Burglary (entry into a building illegally with intent to commit a crime, especially theft). To be more specific, IF it occurred, I would think Burglary of a Motor Vehicle would be the correct charge. Of course this is all assuming events occurred as they have been portrayed. On another note - @ThothAmon that is a great sig line. WOW!
  18. I was a big fan of the first WW movie; considering it one of the better DC movies. I enjoyed the first 5 or so minutes of WW84. Then the scene changes, Diana is no longer on Themyscira, and the story line quickly turns to garbage (IMO). Maybe part of the disappointment comes from the fact that the first movie was so good and from the expectation that this movie would somehow measure up to its predcessor.
  19. First, let me assure you that you never have to worry about "bringing down the thread", just because you share something that is going on in your life. Your life is real; not the fiction of some comic book. Your life is important; far more so than talking about comics. Your life is valuable; more valuable than any comic book could ever be. You are a well respected and valued member of this community and I am thankful you feel comfortable enough here to share your current situation. This is a place where people should be able to share both the "highs" and "lows" of their REAL lives. If we are only here to talk about fantasy and about our latest acquistion (the conquest of obtaining a grail or whatever), then this is not the place for me. In short, thank you for sharing and showing us that we need to remember those who may be walking through a valley right now. To each of us, those valleys come and we must remember to encourage those who are there now, for it is almost certain that we too will be there at times. I wish there was something I could do to make this Christmas time better for you. You do a lot for the boards and are very special. My heart goes out to you during these trying times.
  20. My brother bought me this for Christmas. It looks nicer in person, however, I am not great at taking photos (as you can see from the shadow on the left and the reflections elsewhere).
  21. Well, I don't know who picked up the 4 (great book), however, I know who received the 3 this Christmas morning.
  22. I know there is a thread for those who were in the "Holiday Gift Exchange", however, I did not see one for those who received comics from other friends or family. If Santa did place a comic or comic related gift under your tree or in your stocking (hopefully he did not roll up the holy grail and stuff it in your stocking), then feel free to post it here. Somehow (not sure how), I must have made it on the "nice" list this year (clearly a clerical error) and I received several books this morning, so I will start us off with one that I was very excited about....
