  1. DKR slabbed 9.8's won't continue to rise but I *highly* doubt they will drop, either. The movie has hardly "came and clanked", either. It has been playing in the US for less than 24 hours, there is Friday,Saturday and Sunday to come and go, to see how the movie will do on its' opening weekend. Predictions are good, despite the Rotten Tomatoes reviews. It's being "conservatively forecasted" to bring in 120-150M over this weekend. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/03/24/box-office-preview-batman-v-superman-dawn-justice-my-big-fat-greek-wedding-2 http://variety.com/2016/film/news/batman-v-superman-box-office-1201721710/
  2. Regarding: Atomic Thunderbolt # 1 CGC 3.5 The Avenger #1 CGC 3.0 Phil was a pleasure to deal with. Great communication on his end, despite the fact he was out of town when we struck a deal.He also paid promptly on the deal we struck for the two GA books referenced above. A class act, all the way. I'd feel very confident in selling to (or buying, for that matter) Phil again.
  3. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Supermans-Girlfriend-Lois-Lane-106-CGC-8-0-2nd-App-of-Rose-Thorn-DC-Comics-/391379439226?nav=SEARCH Correction, it sold for $158, per GPA. Still, it didn't last long.
  4. You realize this is the Silver forum, yes? Classic CAK - he's not bound by the laws of mankind oh come on, it's 1970, right on the fence, albeit a couple of months after GL 76 and a month after Conan 1, it still has the hokey cheesey DC 1960s feel. close enough. I wasn't commenting on the age of the book, more his assertion that it was a Bronze Age book, while posting in the Silver forum. I couldn't care less about the intricacies of what book falls in what category. BA or SA, a book this close to the edge of both periods comes down to semantics, either way.But if you want to go putely by time periods ( which I would not argue with) , than this is a BA book. I would place this book as a BA book with a 1960's era feel, but not really in a kitschy/cheesy sense. I'd say it can be classified(loosely) as an undervalued SA/BA key due to its' take on racial issues. The civil rights era took place during the mid to late 1960's and this book has that feeling to it. The only HG CGC slabbed copy I have seen in a year, a CGC 8.0 sold within a day or 2 of it being listed via BIN, about 1-2 months ago. (At the BIN asking price) That shows the demand is there. There is a Voldemort 9.6 on eBay now, at $999 or BO. The Voldemort is a cherry copy, every bit a 9.6.....but, I would rather buy a 9.6 with a couple spine tics or more typical defects than have a 9.6 with a small scratch below the "L" in "Lane".Still, it's a mighty purdy book For a book with racial signifigance, with an all black cover to boot, I think it has room to grow. There are not a lot of copies in the census and the small amount of GPA data shows it's on the uptick.
  5. Snyder's 300 was a very well done movie. I thought his take on the Watchmen fell very short of 300, though. Hoping he didn't handle DOJ like he handled Watchmen.I loved the opening scene in Watchmen, but it was downhill from there. I'd actually prefer to see Batman fkicks directed by Nolan, Affleck etc....ditectors that have a proben track record of putting out moody/dark films. This movie should look like Fight Club, in other words.
  6. CGC uses the dates as they appear in the books, and some reprints (like these) don't change the original dates. One might think a tad bit of research would be in order for a professional grading company. Let's not get lost in the weeds. Publication month/year is all that matters. Reprint dates aren't even generally made public (except in cases like Bone, interestingly enough), much less have any bearing on the original publication date. For a reprint to have a new date on the label, it would have to have that new date somewhere on the book, and would probably have to be substantively different from the original (like the EC reprints of the 1970's.) Was MOS #18 5th printed in 1994? Probably. The first "DC Universe" UPC logo books have a Jan 1994 (printed in Nov 1993) cover date. But it doesn't matter, because the cover date is still Dec 92, and that didn't change. Trying to figure out the "actual date" would be a task beyond the scope of CGC. RMA, not directly related but I've got a question for you....which I'm sure you know the answer to. I actually *remember* you breaking this down but I can't find where you posted it. What are the top 5 (or 10, if you want to go that far) toughest books to find, in the cumulative DOS & ROS storylines....as far as reprints and DCU logo reprintings are concerned. to find because the ROS DCU's were (exclusively or mainly) sold in prepacks. I know JLA 69 4th is fairly tough...Adv 497 3rd...MOS 19 3rd.... But I could have sworn you posting *somewhere* on this board, that Action 686 (DCU logo) was the hardest one and that even you have yet to come across a copy. Is my memory correct? The thread you seek lives in the modern forum. It's nice to have minions... I do have to hand it to you.You definitely know Copper Age books, very well. On that note, I couldn't find that particular post of yours. Mind clueing one of your faithful minions in?
  7. Lois Lane 106 in grade has been picking up on eBay, couple raw HG auctions have been ending around $100...which is actually a steal IMHO. I was lucky enough to pick up a raw 9.2/9.4 ish copy via BIN 2 months ago. Had it on my watch list and it popped up, seller graded it as a 9.2 or better at $90 OBO... messaged the seller immediately with an offer of $70 and paid right away.Wouldve had no problem paying full sticker, though. I'll dry clean/press it for Wizard onsite, hoping to get a 9.4....or 9.6 out of it.Definitely going to bust out the 'ole Absorene putty for this book and get every lil speck of dirt/residue off the FC/BC.The dry cleaning will be a 90-120 minute project on this one, but it'll be worth it....hehe. Personally, I think this is one of the most undervaled BA books out there, in HG. Raw copies in lower grade (GD+ to VG+) always sell nicely at shows, as well' it's a nice wall book.
  8. Consider me weary. Building 40 foot fire pits? I hear that can make one weary. You do realize that I am still getting flack for that deal*, and that the book was a $60 slab that was actually delivered to the buyer, right? * See litany of following posts for an example, as well as random posts.Hell, do a search under " fire pit" on this board and you'd probably find about a post per week with that reference. * The buyer got the book and didn't ask for a refund, after it was received. Point being, I learned from my mistake and I am still here.I haven't beat anyone and then skipped Dodge or tried to come back under a different user ID. Even my profile avatar is a picture of mysef, I have nothing to hide. If anyone wants to bring up the "manipulating GPA", I give the same answer. I cancelled a $275 sale on eBay, immediately refunded the buyer and ultimately, the same book was shipped to Shadroch in return for a $550 donation he made to woundedwarriorproject.org. I am not going to discuss thst any further, a search on this board will pop that thread up. Allow me to reinterate, I have learned my lesson and there ain't no shame in my game.
  9. Cough cough. Once the nomination is rescinded, there is nothing else going on. Nothing to discuss. Unless you are a jackoff on crack on a Saturday night FTFY FTFY Nah. When I usually go on Saturday night crack binges, my time is allocated to ingesting as much crack cocaine as my body can stand whilst perusing seedy strip clubs.Ultimately, the night culminates into engaging a lady of the night in various sordid activities. That said, in the midst of such an evening, there is no time to spend on posting on this forum. Humor and the *apparent* digression from the topic at hand aside.... The fact of the matter remains that the OP has not indicated that he has been made whole.Even if he were to be made whole, the more pressing point was that others should be made weary of future dealings with this DennisRodmanofSS character. Filing a police report, which only the OP is capable of doing, would also give DennisRodmanofSS a considerable amount of trouble. He is certainly deserving of that and being nominated on this forum on a PL list (or not nominated, as the case currently stands) will not be nearly as much of a deterrent in keeping DennisRodmanofSS from getting over on someone else, in the future.
  10. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Alias-1-Signed-by-Netflixs-Jessica-Jones-Cast-CGC-Signature-Series-9-4-2001-/231877924550?nav=SEARCH 4 hours to go, looks like someone may be getting a book at a cost close to what all of the the signing/faciliatation fees costs.
  11. Cough cough....there has been NO FOLLOW UP post indicating that Lemonman5 has been made whole.
  12. Like I said above, he has withdrawn the nomination. When he posted that he was withdrawing the nomination, he only said that he heard back from DennisRodmanofSS.
  13. Posted 03/01/2016. Stop being such a CAK. And yes this was in regards to a sketch book, since the book was a sketch. You are wrong. Chaserman asked me if this was about the Akoni sketch books situation, to which you decided to dive right in with a personal insult against me, before I even replied to Chaserman's question. It is about a sketch book but NOT Akoni's sketch book(s)*.....which was the post by Chaserman that you DIRECTLY responded to, with your childish slights at myself. *Books as in plural and Akoni as in a completely different person, than DennisdRodmanofSS. Lemonman5 has not stated that the matter has been settled, only that after months of waiting, DennisRodmanofSS finally *responded* to him after being outed publically. If someone wasted my time and tried to beat me out of a $500 sketched slab, I'd file a police report , out of principle alone: Did you attempt to contact him via private message about this in the past? If so did he read and ignore your pms? Why is he suddenly easy to find once you bring this to public attention? Isnt' this how it works most of the time? Radio silence until someone takes it public.
  14. If he follows through with a police report, the police will certainly come to his door and the knock will not be friendly. The seller sold the sketched slab for over $500 on eBay. The boardie who got beat out of this book has proof (text messages/emails) from the seller, indicating that the book was owed to him. As the slab has realized a value of over $500, the seller committed *grand larceny*. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/grand+larceny That is not the seller's only crime. By using a mail carrier to ship this slab (stolen property) over state lines, I am pretty sure the seller would be facing two criminal charges. The latter charge is a Federal Offense, if I am not mistaken. If the boardie files a police report, both of the charges would be set in motion, as far as I can see. Finally, if 5 of us report this listing to ebay as suspected stolen property, the seller will get his due deserts from not only the criminal and federal offenses...but he would just about certainly be kicked off of eBay. resurrected a weeks old (and settled) matter to give bad legal advice? Were you too busy to comment then because you were building another 40 foot fire moat? Total CAK move. Get your facts straight before you try to condescend to me. The matter I responded to has not been settled. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, tool.

Is this about the sketch books? I thought this was cleared up a couple weeks ago. No, it has nothing to do with Akoni. I was responding to Revat's post, regarding Lemonman5's nomination of DennisRodmanofSS,wherein Revat suggested that Lemonman5 might want to try filing a police report. Nothing has been posted indicating that DennisRodmanofSS has lifted a finger, so far. Here is the first post from the first week of this month:

  17. That very photo could be in their stock photos. You don't know for sure but to keep from beating a dead horse, yeah the guy is unscrupulous for ripping off someone's photo to sell a comic he may or may not have. Ebay is just not going to do anything to him for selling with someone else's photo. The following is a Public Service Message, brought to you by The Copper Age Kids Comics & Services. We here at at C.A.K. Headquarters appreciate all of YOUR feedback, we hope to WORK with you to bring about a just resolution to any of your comic book buying experiences. Our Mission Statement, is based on a COLLECTIVE effort to bring awareness of potential d-baggery via eBay never do wells. We do all that we can and strive with due diligence to effectively police the Comic Book Community to make your ebay trading experiences as pleasurable for all parties involved as is humanly possible Saacasm aside.... The seller is violating eBay's listing practices, on several counts. Clearly stating in the auction description that the book pictured is his own personal copy. The seller outright cancelled the first listing of the same book/same photos and citing "item is no longer available"..........leads me to think he sold the book elsewhere...or it was sold to the 1st (or 2nd highest) bidder offline at below $660. He then relisted the same book/same photos. He also posted his cell number, stating he will make a deal off ebay. There, you have 3 to 4 eBay policy violations. All it takes is 5 people to file listing violations reports with eBay . Copy/paste the 1st auction that ended at $660 when you report the current listing. And to make it easier on everyone: Go ahead and copy/paste the bulk of my post here in your report (minus the last few sentences, tidy up my summation a bit) ............and PRESTO, LAWD ALMIGHTY ............. The listing will be removed and the dude will get a healthy smack down from eBay...ESPECIALLY for urging would be buyers/bidders to buy the book from him offline.
  18. no doubt. Side question. I've owned my share of double and triple cover books in my day. Do slightly above mid-grade double covers demand almost 5 times GPA for a single cover copy? I didn't track that giant collection of multiple cover books that got auctions a bit ago, did they garner those types of multiples? Chisoxfan....I missed the fun.Can you throw me a linky? Comix4fun: Based on what I know of, from seeing GPA "double cover" notation sales occasionally....no way in Hell.I've only had a few double covers.Like Demon Dreams 1 CGC 9.0...basically, not even worth slabbing.I've got a Ms.Mystic #2 Voldemort 9.6 A.S. Neal Adams....probably will break even on that with Adams sig fees & grading. I do have a sweet BA Aquaman(later 1970's) that will likely get a 9.8, when I get around to pressing/subbing it to CGC. Max would be 200% for double covers, I'd think.500% is redonkulous. Then again, I don't know what the book in question is. If it was a "classic cover" like a Superman #233, then maybe close to that higher end.....But that'd be a big outlier and it'd have to be something sick like a tripled cover 9.8 WP, with all covers in 9.8. A Lois # 106....yeah, I could see somebody flipping their lid over a triple cover of that book.In any grade. That is one of the most undervalued BA books, IMHO, to begin with.

  20. So many copies? You're thinking about MOS # 18, 1st print. Not 4th or 5th print. 1st prints are worth a solid $100-$125 in CGC 9.8. Pull up a search on ebay under "Man Of Steel 18 4th print".......and then search for "Man Of Steel 18 5th print". 4th & 5th printings of MOS 18 in CGC 9.8 are worth about 500%+ the cost of a CGC 9.8 1st print. Then read the 20 or so pages in this thread for a detailed explanation as to why they are more valuable.
  21. That's an interesting way to describe it. But I think it is being done purposely to convey how overly self-confident Lucifer is in his actions. I watched Episode 4 last night, and liked it. Agreed on the bit about Lucifer mannerisms being overacted and Bosco's follow up, as well.....I'd like to see the character portayed with more of a dark edge. But it is basic TV, after all and as such, it needs to fairly mass market friendly Prreacher looks to be the distinctly darker of the 2 Vertigo shows, with similiar conepts that play on morality/religion. Overall I am definitely a fan of FOX's Lucifer and its' ratings are fairly solid.Looks like it will be renewed. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2016/03/01/tv-ratings-monday-feb-29-2016/
  22. you forgot 6 - mention current inventory with possible grades and future plans for said inventory Yes, I know thst I went pretty damn overnoard on that post but sometimes, I get a kick out of this shii and can't help myself Oh and Brad.....you know that I packed that book I sent you like Han Solo in carbonite
  23. Good stuff here. Haven't seen you post in a while, Larry. Welcome back to the boards.
  24. What's the average price now for a NM? $25-30 currently, but not many NM copies are up currently unless they are in a set which is also selling really well. Its similar to what will happen to Planet Hulk 92 in the next year or two I think. Great story with great lead in issue. What's the average price now for a NM? $25-30 currently, but not many NM copies are up currently unless they are in a set which is also selling really well. Its similar to what will happen to Planet Hulk 92 in the next year or two I think. Great story with great lead in issue. I thought Panet Hulk was pretty much canned as a movie concept for the next Hulk solo film, and replaced with Perez's original 2 part Future Imperfect? Wolverine 66 isn't really a super hot book...yet....and it's cooled off since it initially was talked about as the next Wolvie movie theme a few months back. I subbed a copy at Baltimore and got a 9.6 on it, didn't press it as I was short on time and thought it had a good shot at a 9.8. Took a few weeks to sell it on eBay via BIN at $89.99 + shipping....started at below what a Canadian ebay seller had it at that time, who had the only CGC 9.6's on ebay at the time....he had it priced pretty damn high at like $124.95 + $20-ish shipping. He had 2 CGC 9.6's, last time I checked, neither had sold. IIRC, I sold mine via BIN at $70 or so, with free (Diamond comic boxed/bubblewrapped to death)media mail shipping.Since then, I've cut out media mail shipping on slabs and switched over to larger (flat rate medium priority boxes are not big enough to provide adequate protection for even a single slabbed book and local post offices don't usually offer the bigger USPS priority boxes, gotta order them from usps.com.Regression aside.... The buyer was stoked, gave me a + feedback soon as it arrived. I have a few other 9.6 and 9.8 candidates....which I have been hoarding BUT if I sub them this coming weekend at Big Apple, I'll press them beforehand....and sell any raw copies I have hoarded that I can't get at least 9.6's out of, for about $30. From what I see on eBay,a solid NM 9.0 9.4 raw sells for around $20-$40...depending on scan quality + shipping prices,...that is what I'd price the 1-2 copies I have that have a couple light CB spine tics and/or slightly blunted corners. In other words, it seems like raw 9.0's to 9.4's with un-pressable defects are worth an average price of $20-35.That is what I will price my 9.29.4 copies at, at Big Apple.....the cost of selling raw books like a raw NM 9.0,raw 9.2 or raw 9.4 isn't worth the time involved with scanning, posting on ebay etc.....and then (and additional expense of shipping out a 2 pound box via priority b/c I ship out raw books in M2's + 2 full backs + 2 BCW boards....then sheathed in a M2/Full Back silver/gold combo, on a sheet of cardboard...slid into a bubblewrap mailer, packed into a large box with bubblewrap...., which the buyer has to factor into the price of a book. You didn't notice I said a year or two on Planet Hulk? Right? Things can change a lot, but I am not big on the book because of its movie ties. Its just the best Hulk story in at least 20 years. The difference is that both these books people actually read so it probably going to be a condition where raw prices might actually appreciate more then a slab book does. Its rare, but it happens. I was just going off what I read couple of days ago on Old Man Logan the last couple of days from a few websites that seem to confirms its existence in the 3rd movie in some form or another. The manipulation in the slab market I have no desire to pursue. It makes sellers look like con artists and ruins their reputations. Quite honestly it will be nice the market implodes some and some of them disappear. Yes, I saw that about the Planet Hulk story and you may very well be right. A buddy of mine/show partner just sold a raw set of World War Hulk NM 1-6 for $30 with free US shipping....and the buyer paid close to $50-$60, b/c it was shipped overseas....so yeah, Planet Hulk/World war Hulk is definitely well appreciated and I agree that in time, could be a pricey set. I was unaware of the recent apparent confirmation that Old man Logan was more than likely(or is) confirmed as the next Wolvie movie basis. Re: CGC market manipulation by sellers: I sold my Wolvie 66 CGC 9.6 on the "low end"....I wasn't trying to ask $125+ shipping for it. Asking $125 + $25 shipping for a Wolvie CGC 9.6 would be market manipulation.....which is something I do not take part of. I also agree with you on the bubble imploding soon and greedy sellers looking like con artists. That said, this is a CGC forum and I do slab books that are worth the time, expense and work involved with slabbing....just sayin'.
  25. I like to do what do whatever I can, to provide some haha's, brotha
