I thought Panet Hulk was pretty much canned as a movie concept for the next Hulk solo film, and replaced with Perez's original 2 part Future Imperfect? Wolverine 66 isn't really a super hot book...yet....and it's cooled off since it initially was talked about as the next Wolvie movie theme a few months back. I subbed a copy at Baltimore and got a 9.6 on it, didn't press it as I was short on time and thought it had a good shot at a 9.8. Took a few weeks to sell it on eBay via BIN at $89.99 + shipping....started at below what a Canadian ebay seller had it at that time, who had the only CGC 9.6's on ebay at the time....he had it priced pretty damn high at like $124.95 + $20-ish shipping. He had 2 CGC 9.6's, last time I checked, neither had sold. IIRC, I sold mine via BIN at $70 or so, with free (Diamond comic boxed/bubblewrapped to death)media mail shipping.Since then, I've cut out media mail shipping on slabs and switched over to larger (flat rate medium priority boxes are not big enough to provide adequate protection for even a single slabbed book and local post offices don't usually offer the bigger USPS priority boxes, gotta order them from usps.com.Regression aside.... The buyer was stoked, gave me a + feedback soon as it arrived. I have a few other 9.6 and 9.8 candidates....which I have been hoarding BUT if I sub them this coming weekend at Big Apple, I'll press them beforehand....and sell any raw copies I have hoarded that I can't get at least 9.6's out of, for about $30. From what I see on eBay,a solid NM 9.0 9.4 raw sells for around $20-$40...depending on scan quality + shipping prices,...that is what I'd price the 1-2 copies I have that have a couple light CB spine tics and/or slightly blunted corners. In other words, it seems like raw 9.0's to 9.4's with un-pressable defects are worth an average price of $20-35.That is what I will price my 9.29.4 copies at, at Big Apple.....the cost of selling raw books like a raw NM 9.0,raw 9.2 or raw 9.4 isn't worth the time involved with scanning, posting on ebay etc.....and then (and additional expense of shipping out a 2 pound box via priority b/c I ship out raw books in M2's + 2 full backs + 2 BCW boards....then sheathed in a M2/Full Back silver/gold combo, on a sheet of cardboard...slid into a bubblewrap mailer, packed into a large box with bubblewrap...., which the buyer has to factor into the price of a book.

Yup. 1985-1990 newsstands were produced in higher amounts than post 2000 newsstands but they are still pretty tough books to find in CGC 9.8 slabs. Look up any key book from those time periods on eBay and you'll see about a dozen CGC 9.8's....and maybe ONE newsstand copy. Those newsstand 9.8's typically sell at a decent premium over CGC 9.8 direct markets......but the premium is much higher, on newsstands from the early 200's and on. GPA does note newsstand sales on SOME books....Spawn #9 has newsstand sales at about 500% the price of direct markets for example. Meanwhile, a Suicide Squad #1 CGC 9.8 3/1987 newsstand sold on 2/21/2016 via Heritage Auction at $359 PLUS a 19.5% buyer's premium. That sale is not notated as a newsstand edition in GPA, nor did the 19.5% buyer's premium figured into the cost of the bid.....IOW, the buyer paid about $470 for that CGC 9.8 SS #1 1987 newsstand...plus shipping/insurance, bringing the total paid for that book to around $500, or thereabouts. That SS 1 newsstand cgc 9.8 that sold on Heritage on the 21st also had very nice centering, as well. GPA only notes newsstand sales when CGC notes newsstand editions on the label. Spawn #9 has a note about "newsstand edition" because it was printed without a poster (and it's not a flaw if a newsstand edition is missing the poster). Generally speaking, CGC does not indicate newsstand books... and GPA doesn't identify it if CGC doesn't. Well than, that would explain why I have only ever seen one book recorded in GPA, as a "newsstand edition".

Wonder if there was tax involved as well as some states like Florida and California I believe heritage adds that to the total price. And there was another CGC 9.8 that sold at $371, dunno where that was sold and I also don't wether it was a newsstand as I don't see it in ebay completed /sold listings. On 2/25...4 days after the HA 9.8 newsstand sold, GPA shows a sale of $235 for a 9.8...which is the GPA low for 2016. That $235 sale isn't coming up in eBay completed/sold listings, dunno where that sale took place but given the price, it couldn't have been a newsstand 9.8.

Why eat this book just because the seller doesn't know how to ship or grade? Contact eBay and open a case, you'll get your money back.You don't need to deal with him, send him pic, etc.That can all be done in minutes, through eBay's Return Process. FWIW, I have found that I get the best deals from NON-comic sellers, because they do not know what they have and how to sell/market it properly....you just have to tell them/ask them politely and be EXPLICIT, how you want the book(s) shipped. If I am buying comics from ANY eBay seller, as plenty of high feedback eBay comic dealers don't know how to ship books, either....... I send them my standard copy/paste request for boxed shipping...using multiple backing boards per bagged book, packaging material so the box can't be crushed easily...etc....and I also OFFER to pay an extra few dollars, if needed. That usually makes the seller take notice that you won't be happy if he half asses shipping methods. You'd probably laugh if I copy/pasted my shipping method request note to eBay sellers on this board, but it does prevent most eff ups.

Bid sniping is the oldest trick in the book to try to get the lowest price on a book in an auction.

Absolutely NOTHING about Jeffro's (or Comix4Fun's) posts can be deemed the slightest bit "inappropriate". Seems to me that Ankur just pulled a fast one and does not want to be *publically* called out for it.

Seller is actively trying to sell a book to make money. Being that the book is being offered for sale, it can be assumed that there there are other interested parties, than yourself. It is not the seller's responsibility to advise a potential buyer that there are other interested parties nor pending offers. If a seller told me he had other offers, I'd see that as poor salemanship i.e. pushy. If you had time to log onto this board and read the message and not send a short reply with your mailing address for a shipping qoute and your Paypal address for an invoice. it is reasonable for the seller to assume you had a cavalier attitude toward the deal. It sounds like the other interested party was quicker to the chase and sent the seller the info as requested. Granted, I don't know anything about this deal other than what I've read in the last 2 pages of this thread but to call the seller "a bit unethical"...well, that does not seem to fit. The deal was not finalized, at that point. The seller decided he would rather sell the book, to whomever got back to him first, on the particulars that the seller requested. I'm with KPR and MustEatBrains on the take come lesson but beyond that, I don't see what else can be said.

Trick is to ask to speak with a supervisor, if the first rep is a smacked arse which will likely be the case, and from that point on....explain what exactly happened and that the items was hermetically sealed and came from a non smoking home. Also, check his feedbacks and if he has a pattern of questionable complaints ( 4 negs and a nuetral would seem to indicate so), use this as a corrolary to strengthen your arguement. If for some reason, the rep does not help you out, then call again and speak to someone else, eventually someone will help you out. It is time consuming but it can be done. Yup.

I disagree. I wish I could sell on these boards but in the past few months, I am consistently getting higher prices over on eBay even after fees. I woke up this morning to find that two things that I offered over here again sell for more on eBay. (One was a comic and the other was a toy) This is precisely why I don't sell here. If I can get more money on eBay, after fees, then it makes no sense to sell here. Sorry, CGC boards, but there just aren't enough people here willing to pay what eBay people are willing to pay. I'd love to never, ever do business on eBay ever again: they are corrupt, vile, and rotten to the core...but, they have successfully absorbed or litigated everyone else out of business, and there is simply no other way to sell collectable comic books anywhere else. I sold one slab on here rather quickly, an Astonishing Tales #1 CGC 9.6 Twin Cities pedigree quickly after listing it here. It was on ebay for months...lowered the price a couple times, too.Decided to say to Hell with that and raised it back up on ebay, to what was still below GPA. Pulled it from eBay shortly after signing up on this board and put it up for sale here...at about $50-$100 below last sale in GPA (for the very same copy I was offfering, which was a few bucks more (not even less than 10% eBay vig) than my asking eBay BIN before I pulled it from ebay)...and it sold within a 2 days or so. I sold that slab for MORE on here than my eBay BIN. The buyer even PM'd me and asked why the same CGC cert# was priced so much below GPA, I replied that I bought it from a collector at a show and didn't pay the $300+ price reported in GPA. Guy came up to my table at a show with a box of mid grade Sgt Fury's #39's and up, looking for way too much.Those books are all $5 to $10 convention stock fodder in VG/FN to F/VF to me......and told me he wanted $100 (or maybe it was $125) for the slab. I paid him whatever he asked for the slab, passed on the Fury's. I sold it to a boardie named Paul...can't remember his board ID, for $200 or $225, shipped.can't remember, exactly. I also had lugged that slab with me to a couple shows....had 1 kid ask about it at Eternal Con 2014...a "what is the deal with that book...is it a key?".......ugh. From that, I had ASSumed selling on here was gonna be the tits....like the kids say. Not so much. I'd love to sell books on here but eBay wins, hands down....with some outliers like the AS 1 CGC 9.6 TC sale noted above.

Agree with Divad on a formula...but there is really jot a precise formula that can be applied for every bookx as Blob noted. The "formula" comes down to knowing the demand for a specific book and extrapolating its' raw value.

I am not familiar with that actress so dynno if she is any good or not. But I will say that she physically looks the part of what an Amazon princess would probably look like. Ethnic/exotic face......and her body would be very lean, and not overly muscular.

An Avengers 316 in raw NM+ should fetch $40. I have a raw 316 newsstand, a solid 9.6, which I should have already listed on ebay, actually. He did prompt me to sell about 6 dead on 9.8 raw copies of Preacher #42, that I had average at $40 BIN's a piece....then a bit after that Junkdonkey sold a CGC 9.8 copy for around a $300 BIN on ....but not that I could have sold more than 1 CGC 9.8 copy at $300. That was a first to the market sort of buy. I do have 1 raw 9.8 copy left though, gonna have it signed/sketched by Fabry then graded onsite at Wizard Philly in a few months. ....the time of the Preacher is-a comin'..... I watched the 2nd episode last night, IMO it's a decent show. After seeing the trailer a couple months back, I got the impression it was going to be a watered down piece of shlop, along the lines of NBC's Constantine. Lucifer , while it is not dark/edgy, has avoided the mistakes that Constantine suffered from.It is simply an hour's worth of fun escapism entertainment. Not too dull, nor all that edgy, either....but there really is a limited avenue that a show on Fox, based on a Vertigo book, could really take. Very rarely will you see a network TV show that intelligently tackles morality....last show in that vein, that I can think of, was Homicide on NBC...from the late 1990's. The show that I am really looking forward to watching is Preacher. AMC has shown with shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, that they are capable of producing intelligent dramas with a dark underbelly. The Preacher trailer painted the picture that the show will follow in that tradition. Back to Lucifer.... The lead in from Gotham makes very good sense: both shows are comparable in terms of generalities and the time slots compliment one another very well.
