  1. For sure. That definitely happens and rightly so. Relationships make the world go round. I just hope the Friday event is a legitimate sale and not a platform to hype without intent to truly sell. I sat through the last two Shuri sales and waited until the end only to watch the pieces go unsold because of the price. It felt like a bait and switch.
  2. Spider-Man #7 has been a pretty hyped comic recently due to Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos creating a new Spider-Boy character. The issue never made it to public sale. Originally when I had inquired, Spencer Beck, Mark Bagley’s rep told me the issue would be $20-25k then $30k in a subsequent email. I received another email that said it sold as a complete issue a few weeks ago due to an offer he said he couldn’t refuse. Fast forward 25 days, and the the issue is now being pieced out via a live YouTube sale on Friday. Because this happened on another piece in which I was interested by the same owner, I am curious if this sale goes through since the last time this occurred, the art went unsold because of the asking price. Is this a game changing sale or a YouTube subscriber building move? Tune in Friday to find out. 3. You’ve cracked the code. 😂 Sometimes you have to trust your gut. I’ve found the hobby can at times be somewhat of an echo chamber. You may need to forge your own way forward and the masses will catch up. If you like something, there is a reason you do. It’s likely there are others who will feel the same way but may not yet realize it.
  4. Definitely better than the last Signature for sure.
  5. This was hilarious! I love that Dinesh made his own shortly after… nailed it
  6. Hey all, I saw this article on Bleeding Cool this week showing off some of the art for Matt Kindt and Lewis LaRosa's Megalith book that is coming out. Pretty blown away by some of the rendering! I have been tracking this book for over a year now, but these new scans are pretty epic. With all the psychedelic Tradd discussion (congrats to Tradd and Felix), I thought this was another modern style of which I don't see a ton outside of digital. I posted a few of the images from the article below. Looking forward to this one! 7. It was brought to my attention, some of the info presented wasn’t mine to share.
  8. Three months in... I failed. There's always next year.
  9. Great page there. Hopefully the consignor is rolling it into something they value more. Congrats to the new owner!
  10. Sure. One of the hottest modern artists doing a variant cover of one of the hottest modern series. The crazy thing is there were no characters from Strange Academy on this cover. I'd be curious to see what one of those variants brings to market today. I know I sold one of the variants for close to this price two years ago, even as the series was just starting to build momentum. Now it's much bigger.
  11. Still pretty strong for one of the weaker pages from the issue.
  12. She is making no mention of item descriptions and rushing each auction. Awesome for bidders and horrendous for sellers. She clearly doesn't know what she is selling. Heritage is leaving a lot of money on the table for themselves and not leaving a great taste for consignors. Dealers should be buying everything.
  13. Just wait for Across the Spider-Verse in June. Hopefully that will deliver.
  14. I really do think it was right books, wrong pages this auction. The Zeck Kraven and Sandman 1 pages being notable exceptions. The good news is, books overall were strong which is often a leading indicator of the art market.
  15. This felt like a steal! Such a great page. The buyer scored big for sure.
  16. Getting pretty excited! I know several collectors have been selling a ton of choice pieces to make a run at some of the art this week. Can’t wait!
  17. New goal for 2023: stop spending money Likelihood of success: low
  18. It's a good question. Honestly, while I use CAF a ton and consider it my central hub of the hobby, it really represents a very small sliver of OA collectors. The hobby is much bigger, so I don't know that Dueling Dealers really impacted the auction much.
  19. Yeah? I thought most were pretty strong finishes.
