  1. I want to say FF #1, but I'm having a hard time dismissing AF15, or even ASM 1. AF15 really captures the essence of a hero so well, in a way that FF1 doesn't even concern itself with. It's hard to pass on.
  2. Farewell to a giant of a man, the likes of which we only see once a generation, if that. Farewell.
  3. Good people: Mark Bagley, Ben Templesmith, George R.R. Martin Jerks: Chris Claremont, Arthur Suydam
  4. 'If I couldn't be bothered googling it, then clearly no one else would.'
  5. DeMartino also attempted to auction off fake prototypes. He assembles unused flats and gave the strong impression that you were buying an actual preproduction complete ROTJ X-Wing (I think it was an X-Wing, it may have been an ATST, this was many years ago). The Kenner Employee who sold DeMartino the flat protested, and was ignored until he started a public thread on it. Incredibly shady, and since that incident I'd never trust DeMartino whatsoever.
  6. Sorry to hear this. Hope they catch the jerk, and that your property is swiftly returned.
  7. My LCS is good, but they got flooded by requests, and ultimately sold them for a price I was unwilling to pay. I don't blame them, and they're good to me, and give me variants when they can, so no harm no foul on this one, as far as I'm concerned.

    Guilty...

Sandman. Maus. I really want to read both, I just haven't got around to it. Better add Sandman Mystery Theatre to that list as well. Another one I'd like to.
  9. They were a lot harder to get here. I couldn't get any here through my LCS, and they're the biggest in the country. Plus the issue itself was about $10 anyway, iirc, so getting 4 variants, particularly Lau's, for just $50 is a very good deal.
  10. Found a good deal on the set of Lau FF covers--$50AU for the set. Snapped that baby up straight away. Can't wait to receive them.
  11. I'm gonna go with 'probably'. I checked 2 random issues, and by pure coincidence they were the months of 587 and 588. 587 sold over 115, 000 copies and was number 1 on the charts, with no. 2 coming in around 73k. 588 was number 5, obviously dropping because we're now in post-death territory. But those are pretty respectable numbers. 601 sold over 51k copies, again respectable considering the New 52 had just launched, and was doing bonkers sales, and pushing Marvel down the charts. And yes, I do realise my numbers are all based around events. I randomly clicked years and months, and this is what I got. Decide for yourself what that means. Just found a random Millar month, and early Hickman (574) was below that. I'd wager it became bigger than Millar/Hitch, and that it's still evergreen in reprints. Wouldn't say that about Millar's run.
  12. Since Hickman's run, so.. 2011ish? More like a SHORT, SHORT time.
  13. Let Byrne rant to himself about it, like the nasty, crazy old man he is.
  14. I didn't mind it, but it felt like just another issue of Marvel Two-in-One, not the relaunch issue of the FF. They even kinda acknowledged this in Skottie Young's short. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting after all this time. Definitely a bit disappointed by it.
  15. Pages Gone X-Men (may as well capitalise on the infamy) Pages Guarantee eXtra Probably Going X-Rated (your language after cracking a PGX slab)
  16. I believe you're right. Even if you want to use the curled page as an explanation, it still ain't right. Nice catch!
  17. Sigh. Things couldn't look worse for this book. Just..... such a shame. Such a shame. https://www.newsarama.com/41226-youngblood-14-cancelled-spinning-off-into-image-comics-event.html
  18. Those wear patterns don't look real to me at all. I'm going with fake.
  19. This is a trainwreck. OP, I'd wish to be done with you as soon and as shortly as possible, too. That's one of the worst eBay listings I've seen in recent years. I'm surprised you HAVE customers.
  20. I've been a huge Artgerm fan ever since I found his Deviant Art account, back before he was even doing pro comics. I cannot get enough of his work, I even have the issue of Heavy Metal he was involved in.
  21. RIP Mr Ditko. Thanks for all that you gave us, and for the strong conviction of your beliefs.
  22. It's not a graphic novel collection. A graphic novel is a specific format, one that hasn't been serialised, traditionally. An important distinction.
  23. I'm very happy with my shelves full of omniboo and OHCs and Absolutes, etc. The presentation is, in my opinion, often superior to the original issues (nicer paper and all that, you get to see the comic that was created, not what was originally produced, a difference I acknowledge is not for everyone). It complements my actual comic comic collection very nicely, giving me easy access to a huge range of material all the way from the Golden Age to now. Value is a different beast. I have omniboo I could easily sell and get $800 or so for. More than a few actually. But there's one rather major pitfall with thinking of them that way: they could be reprinted at any moment, and then that value is close to nothing again. So if you're in it for money, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're in it for the love of comics, I believe it's a great way to go. A nice oversized hardcover makes for a great presentation, especially when they use a nice paper stock (which doesn't always happen, alas, a big problem with a premium product like this). But in the end, you do you. Collect how you want, and let's talk about the true joy of comics: the wonderful stories and art we get to share and enjoy whenever we want.
