  1. Right on all accounts....I don't understand the big fat SOLD replacing the selling price either. It irritates the heck out of me, as I want to see the ORIGINAL PRICE not some stupid SOLD sign. It helps give me a gauge of what a particular issue/grade is selling for (especially raw) for the future.
  2. I'd love to hear an update on the proceedings against Danny and how long it will be before he's put away.
  3. It was a combination of a lot of users adding and deleting books, so don't give me sole credit.

Also, there are some "tweeners" that fit the timeline, but either used a slightly different design (ASM 113) or the color choice/title placement make it a tough call (Cat 1). BTW, a Marvel Picture Frame book is specifically from November of 1971 (25-cent Giants) to the end of 1972, with a few exceptions (like noted above + some series ended their PF runs in Nov while most went til Dec 1972).
  5. If you can't see the obvious difference between CL breaking the rules, and an entity like CGC, then you're beyond hope.
  6. I have a specific Paypal bank account + credit card, at a bank totally unaffiliated to my primary bank/account, as linking your main financial account to Paypal is insane and just looking for trouble.
  7. Why did you ever think they did? All this does is ensure that the growing number of "personal Paypal required" sellers couldn't use the CGC forums to actively circumvent the Paypal TOS, or force buyers over the barrel in PMs. This was popping up everywhere, which was why CGC acted. Now, if a seller does attempt this, the buyer can cry foul and it's all there in black and white. Meanwhile, close friends buying and selling amongst each other, who freely agree to use the personal payment option, can go about their business.
  8. Most of the CGC risk would be in terms of public relations, as allowing this is just opening up the door for scam artists, as well as CGC being viewed as aiding users in contravening the Paypal TOS. The way I look at it, there are only downsides to CGC allowing Paypal personal payments, and since CGC doesn't make a penny off board transactions, there is absolutely no upside.
  9. Once again: From the Paypal TOS Agreement: 4.1 Receiving Personal Payments. If you are selling goods or services, you may not ask the buyer to send you a Personal Payment for the purchase. If you do so, PayPal may remove your ability to accept Personal Payments. A Purchase Payment is a payment received for any of the following: * A sale of goods or services (a “Commercial Transaction”); * A payment you received after using the “Request Money” tab on the PayPal website; * A payment you received for a donation; or * A payment that is sent to, or received by, a business or other commercial or non-profit entity. A Personal Payment is: * Amounts sent to a friend or family member without a purchase. Personal Payments include, but are not limited to, sending a gift to a friend, or paying a friend back for your share of a lunch bill; 13.5 PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy 1. What is the PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy? It is PayPal’s process to help you resolve a problem directly with the seller through the PayPal Resolution Center for purchases that are not eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection. The PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy is similar to PayPal Buyer Protection in that it enables buyers to file Disputes for Items Not Received (INR), or for items that are Significantly Not as Described (SNAD). By filing a Dispute, you can communicate with the seller and attempt to resolve the problem. If you are unable to resolve the problem, you may escalate an Item Not Received (INR) Dispute to a Claim – but you may not escalate a Significantly Not as Described Dispute to a Claim. You may not file a dispute for a Personal Payment.
  10. It's sellers like this that we could do without on here, and I truly hope you back up your rants by a) leaving for "greener pastures" or b) using Check/MO only, as this "I'll hammer them in PM after they buy" is quite the customer service. What happens if someone refuses to bend over and use Personal Payments? You gonna whine and scream, then cancel the transaction?
  11. I usually get my stuff in about a week too, but there is the odd package that Canada Customs takes a special interest in, and the delay can be 1-2 weeks or more. I guess there's a backlog right now, so if a package gets tagged, it can easily take over 2 weeks to get here. 30 days for sellers and 10 days for buyers seems logical to me.
  12. I'd stop grinning, since a lot of people also thought the 30-day waiting period was unworkable for buyers, and I don't think anyone wanted an immediate lynching, but maybe something more like 10 days. After all, the only reason it's 30 days is to give the items time to be shipped and received.
  13. Holy Cap, this is a real change from the usual newbie deadbeats. Congrats on turning that corner, and I bet the good karma will pay off in the future. (thumbs u
  14. And if you sell to anyone else during that 30 day time period, or even *list* the books for sale, then he cannot be added to the Probation List.
  15. Personally, I think this 30-day waiting-period on probation-ready buyers is stupid, and I thought that was only for sellers to deliver on after they've been paid. Think about it, I post an expensive CGC book, Buyer A offers to buy, then backs out of the transaction - I PM him multiple times, and he says NO WAY, he's out. So I need to hold onto this book for 30 freaking days, not selling to anyone else, just to get this deadbeat on the probation list? That's insane, and again, I thought the 30-day grace was for shipping and handling time, NOT for buyers to be able to waste a month of a seller's time. After all, if the book does sell to someone else within that 30 day period, then the buyer cannot be put on any list, right?

  17. If you're paying a membership fee for access to the CGC Boards, then you're a Grade A sucker.
  18. And conversely, if sellers don't like the Marketplace Guidelines, then they are free to sell elsewhere.. simple as that. (thumbs u You seem to forget that CGC doesn't make a cent off board transactions, and rightfully should be more concerned with allowing sellers to skim Paypal's legally owed transaction fees.
  19. The point as I see is that CGC has been nice enough to allow a FREE marketplace for sellers to ply their wares under a NO-COST scenario that incurs sellers ZERO FEES. Now, many sellers are openly and wantonly flaunting the Paypal Terms of Service, by effectively forcing buyers to fraudulently use the Personal Payment option, even though it is a valid sale transaction that is not allowed as per Paypal's TOS. Not only could both parties have their accounts terminated, but the buyer has zero protection in the event of a dispute. You're essentially asking CGC, who charges you NOTHING to sell here and provides a FREE marketplace, to be a willing accomplice to sellers trying to scam Paypal of its transaction fees. Does that sound fair? Hasn't CGC done enough?
  20. Great idea, and not only to protect fellow board members, but also to keep CGC's marketplace and name squeaky clean. (thumbs u
