  1. Nope, while it is a beautiful book, it's actually off-set noticeably, similar to the My Love posted above. I;d still take it off your hands, but there are better examples of totally straight-cuts posted on here.
  2. Because I bought them all? Half-joking to be sure, but around 2000-2004 I noticed these were priced *much* lower than other PF books, so for awhile I kept buying out all the major dealers when they had a 9.X copy in stock.
  3. How much was that? I'm debating selling my copy, as I don't collect HTD - it was graded by the seller as a 8.5, but that was due to a small amount of distributor ink on the top, and there's not a lot wrong with it other than that (a couple of nicks on the spine) - and CGC doesn't downgrade for prod stuff until you hit the upper echelons.
  4. That's similar to the various "updated reprints" of the Romance books that came out around the same time. The covers were slightly different with new colors, but kept the PF format.
  5. Not this again. I don't think I have anything special, and they are not bronze either.Just sayin' My point is, that I'm a Canuck (who also grew up in Ottawa) and I've never seen a single price variant - lots of Canadian newsstand/Direct versions that may differ from their US/UK/French/Philippines/etc. counterpart, but no true price variants.
  6. Yes, I have stated many times that ASM 115 is just a stylized version of the standard picture frame. It's exactly the same format, but a circle (which follows the cover/story) rather than a square. The difference with Cap 155 is that while the cover image may have a circle in it, the actual cover follows the square PF much more closely - check the bottom lettering - it cuts off the circle in a straight line. Not so with ASM 115. Although I believe that ASM 115 deserves inclusion (but for a different reason), I think a far better argument would be, if Cap 155 qualifies, then so too should Cat #1.
  7. Nah, the whole cover and text style is way off, and there isn't even the Marvel Comic headliner that helps signify the change. Plus, this is just a basic rip of an old GA comic that the reprint was taken from, and hardly anything "original" Stick with pushing for Cat 1, as that issue deserves consideration.
  8. I firmly believe Cat 1 was intended as a picture frame book, but the lower lettering was never colored in (for whatever reason) and the art flowed to the bottom of the page. But Fear 5? That has no relationship to a PF style and was never talked about in any thread I've seen - are you sure you have the issue number right?
  9. I'd bet those are Pedigrees and slabbed for resale due to its well-known scarcity and value. On the other hand, MSE 4 doesn't have close to the same notoriety and I had no idea it was *perceived* as so scarce in HG - I bet that this conversation has spurred a few copies CGC's way.
  10. If MSE 4 is the one with Odin holding Thor, then I have a few HG copies, but forget about ML 14 - that book almost doesn't exist in HG.
  11. Why? This actually reminds me of a time when this was a close-knit community of actual collectors, most of which have unfortunately drifted away over the years, rather than the crop of malcontent speculators and investors that took their place.
  12. OS prices have never been entirely based on actual sales values. If something sold for $50 3-5 years ago, and jumped to $200 and then $400 over the last 2 years, the OS "smoothing pricing matrix" would have it listed at $80-$100. If it stays at $400, the price will go to $150-$200 next year. Old Bob has even stated this, since he doesn't want OS to reflect actual real-world prices, as that would entail lowering them once speculator values drop - instead he "smooths' them out over the longer term.
  13. A lot of those Whitman 3-packs had a "free gift" in them, so that's a possibility.
  14. The whole poster is definitely Star Wars-influenced.
  15. Nah, I don't see any books or prices, just continuous WTB threads. This really sucks, as I mouse by memory at my fave forums, and I see absolutely no reason for this - it's like CGC is running a "let's pizz off the users" experiment.
  16. No, I think some ape-faced loser whined to Arch that "the WTB forum is dead because it's hidden under the Marketplace" or some such BS. Otherwise, the WTB ghetto should have been moved to the BOTTOM, where it belongs. What's wrong with the WTB? It's been moved to the SAME PLACE/POSITION as the Forum-Only Marketplace used to hold, and for that that "click from memory", it means a lot of trips to that POS WTB forum. What's next, is CGC going to code their website so that I'll have to right-click the URLs?

  18. WTF did they change it for? This place is like a zoo being run by the animals.
  19. Was the Wanted to Buy forum always on top of the regular Marketplace, or am I going a bit insane? I keep clicking on the WTB forum, thinking I'm going to the real Marketplace, like it's a habit or something.
