  1. Please don't go there, and compare that terrible, though ultimately life-affirming, tragedy to a child support case involving the illegitimate progeny of Danny Dupcak.
  2. But that was mostly due to differing eras, which is understandable that you want to group GA apart from MA, but that has been cleared up with the forum revamp.
  3. Usually these are the accepted terms: Original Owner (OO) Book - a comic you purchased from the shelf. Bought from OO/From an OO Collection - a comic you purchased/consigned/stole/whatever from the original owner and are reselling.
  4. Well, since you asked so nicely and without resorting to childish swearing.
  5. I don't think everyone has universally accepted this, and the resultant CGC-sponsored auction, as a "great idea". Get Danny in front of the courts for fraud, facing a potential jail sentence, and I'll send you a box of books myself.
  6. Hey, let's just see how it plays out, and who turns out to be right or wrong. If Danny is forced to reveal his entire web of elicit financial dealing, then I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.
  7. I'm just going to leave it at that, and I really do hope that Danny allows the court case to continue to fruition, and Mark is allowed full and complete access to his financial records, which may ultimately help bring him down, but I just don't think DD is that stupid. But good luck.
  8. Listen, it'll never get to that point, as Danny is a smart guy and will just pay the higher amount once he sees the firepower - he'd never allow this to get to the level that Mark states, as then he'd be opening up a whole new can of worms. The scenario as I see it: 1) Danny finds out about potential legal challenge. 2) Danny relents to higher child support since he does NOT want to let Mark inside his life. 3) Danny lists 30% more hidden-resto books to pay the bills. To think that he'd let a child support case threaten his source of income is ludicrous, and no matter what you think of Danny, no one can say he's stupid.
  9. I was all wired up as well, thinking Danny had defrauded a high roller, but then I read the post and came to the same conclusion. With all due respect, we're supposed to donate money so he doesn't lower his child support payments? How is that going to put him "out of business"? Heck, if you win, he'll probably have to sell even MORE restored comics to pay the bills...
  10. In case anyone is interested, here's some picks of Arnold perusing the Superman comic.
  11. My kids were watching a Different Strokes DVD S1 set I just bought (mainly because it was on clearance for $4.99!) and the third episode starts with Arnold laying on his bed thumbing through a copy of Superman 331. Very nostalgic image.
  12. Have you ever heard the term "grading on a bell curve"? It's a method of distributing grades in a predetermined manner and frequency, so that you have X number (or %) of A's, Y number of B's, Z number of C's, etc. Same with CGC, and you'd have to be incredibly naive not to understand that. In fact, this methodology at the better-than-NM level is absolutely key to their very existence.
  13. And you actually saying this is the same thing? No one is disputing that a high-grade copy of NM 98 has some value and that Deadpool is popular character. What is so incredibly humorous is that someone is willing to pay such a huge premium for a totally arbitrary 1/10 of a CGC grade difference.
  14. I think it was a bit from Column A and some from Column B. Remember, back when The Avengers debuted, Emma Peel was (given the times) a feminist character, as was Riggs in real-life.
  15. And don't forget about the Women's Movement, with Shanna, The Cat and Night Nurse making a short run effort at introducing new female headliners to the fold, along with giving the Black Widow co-headliner status with Daredevil.
  16. In some ways yes, but in others, some BA books were leading the way, and just ahead of US mass market pop culture. Sure, GL/GA 76 was in response to the 60's flower power movement, and the Easy Rider bookend to the hippy movement, but remember that comics were (at the time) a mass market medium, and there were trends at Marvel that only showed up in studio movies a year or more down the line. Comics creators must have been at the cutting edge of pop culture at the time, getting their influences from small indy and international creators, rather than following the US media.
  17. Personally I am much too tired to give this thread the attention it deserves. If I got into this, I'd never get out.
  18. It's a remainder copy so my money would be on ink or water staining.
  19. Jesus, I knew that, and I guess I got mixed up after reading the Marvel Preview story.
  20. I'm pretty sure the magazines are too. There are some really good stories in those mags, and Bill S. was in his "Neal Adams" phase, so the artwork is killer as well. I personally feel that those issues, all leading up to Marvel Preview 21 (pictured below) represent the pinnacle of Moon Knight as a character:
  21. So you've never read/bought the Essential Moon Knight?
  22. Question I need a Mod ruling on: Are you allowed to sell PGX/etc. non-CGC slabbed books on here, as long as you hide the name (other guy's slab, ProGradedX, etc.) or are PGX/etc. not allowed for sale under any circumstances.
