Yes. Whole run in color. 1-193. I think it’s gonna to be great. Sounds like this has been in the works for a while. Dave McCaig is doing the colors and has noted he has done over 2000 pages already.

Here are some of the colored pages from Delux issue #1 with info on the new "Cutting Room Floor" inclusion, and other news on the new versions - https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/walking-dead-comic-book-series-stages-full-color-comeback-1303703

So I figured out how to pull up the old auctions / BIN sales on ComicConnect.  Damn I fell sorry for the 2 people buried in these...

Ouch! Strangely, I feel more for Mr 9.8. Mr 9.9 might be hurting too, but he has a much rarer slab.

My "rule" for buying things is "But what you like". That way, whatever happens in the future market, you'll still "Like it".

  3. I have bought quite a few CGC books from Ryan over the last two years. Always a good communicator, always fair, always great packaging. I recall he once went right out of his way to help me re-slab a book from CBCS to CGC. I have no doubt I'll buy from him again, and have no hesitation at all in recommending him to you.

Books that went unsold were re-listed and prices were lowered so feel free to let me know if you are interested in any!  See the link above in the first and second posts to my current items for sale ending in the next couple of days!

Just noticed your new boards "Location". Funny : - )

  5. I have been working with a few TWD "nuts" (and fountains of wisdom) to create a list of TWD rarities - those limited edition comic runs from conventions and from special boxes (etc). We have a rough draft to share.

If anyone here would like to see it/comment on it/correct it before we post it on here for the world to refer to, please ping me a DM with your email address :-)

  6. Dear Matt

Please take a look at The Walking Dead #33, Second Printing, slot ID https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/SlotScoreDetail.aspx?SlotID=128973

This is the rare edition with the blue cover (the First printing had a red cover), and was a very limited run. In the market, it attracts a premium of about 4-5x the First printing. This is evidenced from sellmycomicbooks.com in the screenshot attached (and see https://www.sellmycomicbooks.com/the-walking-dead-comic.html - look just about half way down the page).

I suggest that the current 48 points for 9.8U should be increased to about 150-200.

    Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you for your patience. I have increased the score accordingly.

I don't know about Walking Dead or Image comics in particular, but with Marvel the indicia date often didn't change from one printing to the next, so people will use the ads in the later printings to estimate their publication dates.

Interesting. Thanks for adding to the debate.

Are comics like coins, where if it looks superior to the grade on the holder, people will crack them out and resubmit them.  As a result the census data was always overstated.  Is that the case here too?

I'm sure (as ItsJustRyan has said) that the total may be overstated for precisely the reason he states. Fires, floods, vengeful partners, etc. may also take a toll on the current graded totals of any book.

    Certainly, there is no re-census...

Thanks Stephen.  Appreciate the tip.  I found out the hard way a couple of times, when the Post Office refused to release the package until I paid the fees,  One of them even had the words COMIC BOOK written in large letters across the box! Best wishes. Paul

The key to duty free is the words "Comic book" on the customs declaration.

I have just paid £13.75 to have a parcel released for delivery. It contains x2 Walking Dead comics.

If the words book/comic book are on the declaration, I will complete form BOR286 for a full refund. If the declaration says (something/anything like) "walking dead collectible", "walking dead 123 and 124", I can complete the same form and send my evidence (e.g. an eBay or PayPal print out) and I will get the duty back, but not the £8 handling fee. A lot of bother for £5.75, so I likely won't...

Key therefore is ALWAYS to impress on the shipper the importance of the words on the declaration.

    Cheers

    Stephen

PS If your duty numbers (£) ever get big (e.g. charged on mis-declared high value comic books), let me know. I have the chapter and verse on UK customs laws...

A variant is a different edition from the same print run (this is actually implied in "regular shipping cover" despite that being a less-than-perfect definition). Variants are different versions of the same thing. A reprint, while obviously similar to the original, is a different thing.

Also, like I mentioned earlier, reprints can have their own variants. Assuming your list is otherwise accurate, that means a special edition reprint book (the 15th Anniversary WD 1, whatever it's officially titled) has the most variants

Interesting. Is therefore the print date the KEY determinant to distinguish one from the other? CGC dates comics in mm/yyyy. Is it possible that a comic could be reprinted in the same month and thus show the same mm/yyyy?

Is there a DEFINITIVE source of such definitions?

If you have a minute, please help me with some TWD examples:

    1. TWD #2/7/8 each have first and second printings. Is the second one in each case a variant or a reprint?

    #2 shows 11/03 and 02/04 for the first and second printings;

    #7 shows 4/04 as the header date in both cases;

#8 shows 5/04 in both cases, though the indica for the second shows 7/04.

    2. TWD #150 has six different covers. Are all/any of them variant? reprints?

    3. There are seven individually dated $1 TWD #1 Image Firsts. Same question - any/all variants? any/all reprints?

This might not matter too much - I'm not sure. You raised the point, and as I said I am just keen to present my journal correctly. I'm sure that comics-wise, it is accurate.

    Regards

    Stephen

But keep in mind .... as with any sought after comic the actual number of graded issues is deceiving , a lot of times slabs are cracked to repress / get signatures and are resubmitted with different serial numbers

Interesting point. I can easily see some duplication for pressing and/or signatures.

Of the 3204 presently in the CGC Registry (an increase by one this week), 470 are Signature Series.

    Hi Paul,

Here is another money-saving tip for you/your seller/buyer. I live in the UK too. Make sure the you (or the shipper) writes "Comic Book" on the shipping label. This way, the package will pass through UK customs without any tax/duty/fees. Books, including comic books, are duty free into the UK.

    Regards

    Stephen

I just saw that you already have the book. If you paid import duty or VAT, you can claim it back. Look online for form BOR286

Thanks - that is really helpful.  Much appreciated.  It is a US to UK transaction, so I wanted to ensure we are both covered.  Best wishes.  Paul

  14. For me, still the #1 surprising fact about this comic is that of the supposed 7266 comics printed (and I have read the string about US/others/Kirkman give-aways, etc), as of now, 3203 have been graded by CGC. This is over 44% of the whole/alleged print run!

And I wonder what was the status or fate of the other 4063 copies: slabbed by other grading co's, stored bagged and boarded in long-boxes, binned or sent for recycling...

are people discussing issue number one?   Nice!---I have a few...

There are 253 to choose from (including the Black and White MATURE READERS from 2003, the 157 store variants from 2018 and The Last Wine from 2019). My journal (you'll find it in this string) lists them all...

    Cheers

TWD #1 has only one variant: the black/white letters. It has a lot of special edition reprints, some of which have their own variants.

According to howtolovecomics.com "variant covers are comics that have a different cover to that of the regular shipping cover while still have the same contents".

I would like to present my journal correctly. If you can advise further, I'd be pleased to hear from you again.

Thank you for taking the time to look.

  17. Please take a look at The Walking Dead 1 Second Printing WW Portland Edition 2013 https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/SlotScoreDetail.aspx?SlotID=170441

This was limited to just 250 copies and attracts a selling price premium of x4 over the other 2013 Wizard World TWD editions.

Suggest its score might be bumped from 48 for a 9.8U to about 160-200.

    Thank you for considering.

    Score Updated. Thank you
