  1. Why do you keep mentioning the dedication as if that gives what you have any sort of credence? The pic you supplied with the dedication is an exact copy of interior page 1 of the first issue. Here is scan of interior page 1 of issue #1 :
  2. Here were 3 more from the order mentioned in above post - again it was this thread that inspired me to submit. "Monsters on The Prowl" 16 I thought was the stronger of the 3, appears I was nicked for some light tanning on interior back cover :sigh
  3. Back 12 months after sending them away. It was this thread that inspired me to submit 5 of my PF era books 1 year ago. I stuck strictly to the box that was easiest to dig out. Both purchased from Vinny less than a month after he and the other guy acquired the collection. Premiere was $30 and Fury $15 - not keys but money well spent by 1998 me NOT pressed.
  4. Even Bachara probably does not have as much blood on his hands as DeBeers. lighten up folks merely a joke - or so I hope.
  5. 4.5 Must resist making Beavis and Butt-head type joke about thread title.
  6. An Economy (pre 1975) submission of mine "popped" this past week. Virtually all non 9.8's had grader notes. One book I submitted that I thought could range from 8.5 to 9.4 depending on how defects were weighted came back a 9.2 (which I happy with BTW). Based on the grader notes I was able to determine (due to lack of mention) a minor issue on the spine was due to binding and not counted against the book. I do agree with the grade but now I understand more so why it received what it did. My opinion when folks get graders notes for 9.4 and below or 9.6's on Copper or earlier that at face value appear 9.8 it encourages more submissions. I do also agree CGC in not a grading teaching service still for the current rates being charged, getting them at least gives the illusion of perceived extra value
  7. Not new to my collection but it's been away for so long it feel like it is. Finally back this week after a looong 12.5 months in a NO pressing submission. 🥁 There are now 2 Wonder Woman #180 in 9.8 on the CGC Census Purchased from Vinny in 1998. This is only 1 of 2 SA Oakland's I've submitted. With the current state of Q/C I'm too afraid to send any more of these hard to find in high grade 1960's DC's. Like 80% (based on my causal analysis the last 22 years) of Oakland the pages are not white - likley attributable to where they were stored until the collection was purchased. A very sharp copy Before and after scans:
  8. While many decades before my time, The short-tempered Sugar Plum and Spike ROCK! Never noticed this thread before.Good luck on your continued quest. I own a Sugar and Spike Digest (shout out to Vane), Copper Age but glad to have it.
  9. If these were printed/manufactured via "pirate" "Counterfeit" "bootleg" type situation first sale doctrine does not apply and TWD could take various forms of legal action if you sell or demonstrate intent of sale or distribution. My armchair legal advice advice unless you have the resources to challenge a huge corporation do not risk selling them online or publicly in any manner unless you can determine without doubt they are "legit". BTW if you used your real name as your ID on this forum there already is trail to be used against you in a legal situation.
  10. My post excluded 9.4 and higher but what about 8.0 and below? Especially lower than 7.0?
  11. My buddy will be submitting all 9.8 candidates over the next 2 months from his 2 long boxes. However he will be doing it Modern Service Level so my guess it will have already cooled by then. He offered to give me a few copies of my choice to do a review prior to submission for him but honesty the book means nothing to me and my free time now is scarce so I'll probably pass. Last time I did the work on book for him like that he decided to sell them raw at 50% FMV to a client of his. Probably a smart move given it was cash.
  12. I actually go out of my way to disparage Copper books i own in 9.8 in effect "I don't want to join any club that would have me as member" As part of my Job I have taken a boatload of courses and seminars on various Bias' the last 10 years and I can you that any human that say they don't have them is lying. Financial based biases are some of the most difficult to overcome and are highly prevalent in society. They also attract the most Venom (pun intended) when any counter point is given.
  13. As I understand many Silver and Bronze keys not in 9.4 (more applicable to silver) or 9.6 or 9.8 are going for noticeably less than last year. WWBN 32 anyone.... Lots of room for the non-prime condition keys to settle back to probably the level they should be at had there been no pandemic. Of course like all markets no one statement fits all, but for the broader market in general it will ring true, this is what happens when a bubble bursts. Please note my post does not refer to Golden/Atom or pre-1964 Silver. I am not involved enough in those markets to have a proper understanding. “markets can remain irrational a lot longer than you and I can remain solvent.” - Keynes; However eventually it will become rational and we are now at the start of that phase.
  14. Sorry you took losses, but likley new normal for a while. There will always be exceptions, outliers, record breaking keys, and MCU rumor related hot book of the day but for the comic market as a whole the pain is just starting. For most books just holding on to a fractions of its pandemic gains will be a victory. 6 month from now today's prices will seem like the gold old days for sellers. Also expect many who jumped on the bandwagon to leap off as they take heavy ROI hits.
  15. Re Facebook: There are 7400 age 60+ OA collectors, WOW! No conversations from 4:30-6:00PM while all have their early birds I bet nearly all of them have AOL email addresses (I know Giella does) Makes sense most of the convo's are short there as the participants likley doze off after 2 or 3 sentences.
  16. Grades for my Oct 19, 2021 marked received economy no press submission popped yesterday...50 weeks after posted as received and 56 weeks after they actually arrived at CGC facility.
  17. not sure I was clear, but i was talking about Batman/Spawn #1 in which the only reason are number are not higher is for most simply not worth submitting.
  18. The registry exists to bring in income for CGC. Even if it's nowhere near PSA's gold standard of an app. The answer is simple; the individual must decide if the dopamine hit of having a high or the highest ranked registry set is worth all the other factors like cost, time, effort, sanity etc.. BTW: Many times registry sets are nothing more than a wiener wallet measuring contest Unless of course its about holding the #1 ranked set in every DC published Digest category as that is simply and undeniably the coolest
  19. IMHO: A Pedigree is nothing more than designation of an original owner collection - which makes it entirely after market. Pedigrees being "worth" more registry points makes no sense. The condition of the book, is the condition of the book. In addition some (most?) pedigrees are really not indicative of superior overall quality over non-pedigree copies. Lets take "Oakland" for instance - I have many of these all purchased from in Aug&Sept 1998, some I've had graded. Of the books I've had graded 1/2 I submitted in all the back in 2001-2003 and then again another 2 batches nearly 20 year later in 2021. 75% have ow/w pages , with slightly less than 25% being WP as 1 was OW. I've also tracked sales of these when possible and the ratios are similar 75% are NOT WP. My guess is the way the environmental condition in which they were stored from day of purchase until Vinny and Carbinaro raking in the haul was less than optimal. I will say that 9.6 and 9.8 abound with the Oakland books I purchased. As for signed books that is a large revenue generator for CGC so the absurdity of them being more registry points for what in effect are damaged books is something sadly that has to be accepted as it's part of their business model.
  20. Not considering waiting time. My opinion is estimate the value of each in 6.5 then decide.
  21. after reading a few posts here about changing grades, i make sure to take some caps and download the data as soon as they pop. Had an economy pop today - it was sent to cgc Sept 16 2021. 5 picture frames in there that this thread inspired me to submit.
  22. IMHO even a 9.4 is lucky in a poly-bag. When I still purchased new comics I hated them. it meant I had to buy several copies and keep opening until I got one that met my standards. I soon grew weary of that ploy and simply removed myself from that treadmill by purchasing one at con or other after market mechanism that met my criteria. It probably saved me money in the long run and certainly helped me maintain sanity
  23. Registered from CGC for example to my location usually take 5-7 business and I'm only 15 miles from one of the larger shipping hubs in the USA
