  1. HI, all. I've consigned some more affordable artwork with Heritage this week. All auctions end Wednesday, Sept 21 and feature the main character(s) in costume or in their civilian identities. These are all solid pages, fun to own for yourself or to give as a gift. I've made a note of the pages that I'm running low on quantity, so if you've been waiting to pick one up, now is as good a time as any. Here's a brief summary of the pages, along with a direct link to each page at auction: Bagley Spiderman Life Story #5p20 - Peter's kids fight Morlun, while Peter jumps to his lab to get his Spidey Suit. Great action page! Link to page: Mark Bagley and John Dell Spider-Man: Life Story #5 Story Page 20 | Lot #48013 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Bagley Venom #22 (187) p16 with Eddie Brock, from the popular 'Spider Island' storyline. Note - I am running out of Venom pages for sale so get them while you can. Here's the link: Mark Bagley and Andy Owens Venom #22 (187) Story Page 16 Original | Lot #48014 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Chen Elektra #26p14 with Elektra securing her next target. Note - I am running out of Elektra pages for sale so get them while you can. Link: Sean Chen and Sandu Florea Elektra #26 Story Page 14 Original Art | Lot #48051 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Finch Wonder Woman #45p14 with Donna Troy and Violet in a deadly confrontation. Note - I am running out of Wonder Woman pages for sale so get them while you can. Link: David Finch and Jonathan Glapion Wonder Woman #45 Story Page 14 | Lot #48071 | Heritage Auctions McKone Big Town #1p29 featuring Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and the Fantastic Four. This is my only page from this highly sought out series. Link: Mike McKone and Cam Smith Big Town #1 Story Page 29 Original Art | Lot #48134 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Howard Porter Titans #10p10 featuring Troia, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Jericho & others. Great page design by Porter. Note - I am running out of Titans pages for sale so get them while you can. 2. Doesn't even need to be true high end art. During the previous HA auction, it was myself and one other bidder running up a piece from $31K to a hammer price of $55K. Take either the winner or underbidder out of the equation, and someone would have picked up a great page for ~ 75% less than final hammer.
  3. I don't think that people have forgotten. Personally, I don't have to go into the office for at least another 6 months and I continue to save on vehicle expenses (gas, insurance, wear & tear, regularly scheduled Maintenace, etc), clothing & dry cleaning, laundry and so forth. I've been travelling only within North America, albeit very short, low-cost trips (HeroesCon and Terrificon). Only went to the movies once to see Top Gun 2 - Maverick, and I was able to negotiate a raise to offset inflation.
  4. You are so confusing that it’s dizzying trying to understand your point. firstly, original art is a one of a kind item. Trying to use the sale of a Byrne Xmen page from 2002 with the sale of a different Byrne Xmen page that sold in 2022 for 14x the 2002 page is folly. but then to say that an Anderson Hawkman page, which didn’t even keep up with inflation during this same period will climb higher (assume you meant to say it will increase in price by x times faster than the Byrne Xmen) is ludicrous. the Byrne Xmen pages will always be in demand, with fierce competition driving prices ever higher. By comparison, not so much for Anderson Hawkman pages
  5. Search for “from the collection of Murphy Anderson”…way too many results to list here
  6. iIRC, you may have forgotten to factor in the plethora of Anderson artwork that flooded the market shortly after his death.
  7. No need to setup at an exorbitantly overpirced show when they can setup for a fraction of the cost at the shows I’ve mentioned, in addition to the OA only shows held in CA and NJ.
  8. Excellent post. Everyone, please follow KirbyCollector’s advice and refrain from bidding in November’s Heritage auction! I will personally thank you for it 🤣
  9. I am saving a lot more money by not going to the show this year…the guest list becomes less interesting with each passing year, less comic and OA dealers due to the rising cost and hassle of getting a booth, along with ever-increasing ticket prices. conversely, I found HeroesCon and Terrificon to be much better options
  10. Great start to the November auction with an Ingels HOF cover, Sandman #8 page, a Sandman #3 page, Batman 426 Death in the Family lots, Schomburg Green Hornet 21 cover, Romita Sr ASM 88 splash...can't wait to see even more great pieces added to this one!
  11. Buddy, ya gotta stop calling it OCA…it’s just OA, OK?
  12. I know that we don’t often agree, and it’s fine to have differing opinions. Sometimes, I’m swayed by a cohesive, well-thought out counterpoint and I change my mind. what I would like to know is who are the commenters suggesting we are headed towards critical mass? Are these anonymous keyboard jockeys all named Chicken Little? What evidence did they (or anyone) see in the last HA auction results to indicate anything whatsoever of a slowdown in the OA market? and lastly, but most importantly, why listen to them?
  13. People who complained about prices on the lower quality pieces who have stopped collecting seem to have been replaced by folks who aren’t complaining because they’re too busy scooping up these lower tier pages like drunken sailors! how else does one explain the feeding frenzy at the shallow end of the pond?
