    It's not your typical 4.0 Betty & Veronica #40, that's for sure. Defects like this is one reason why there are major price swings in books of the same grade. If a book can't fetch the same price as others in the same grade, maybe it shouldn't be graded as high ?

    The whole grading system needs a reboot. There are millions of permutations of possible flaws on a comic, how can the same grade be assigned to books with diverse defects? What should a 5.0 look like? Just like yours, and nothing like the other 5.0's you have.

    I found this B&V #40 on mycomicshop.com. Without the pen marks, this looks to be in the 5.0 range, I'm guessing the marks on the cover took it down a full point. Your book (without the marks) looks to be a 3.5 or so. The marks would probably bring it down to a 3.0, imo.

    These boards have some sharp-eyed, knowledgeable people. Ebay should hire some of them as 'secret shoppers' , an in-house bunko squad. And the op should get a reward.

    I'm going out on a limb here, but it's likely that @Bomber-Bob 's CGC 6.0 Flash 105 was switched with an 8.0. Maybe 7.5. None of my 6.0 's look that nice.

    Baltimore was 9/28 - 9/30. Maybe the damage occured in the slab after grading?

    He got a 7.5 at a bargain, now he wants a box or something? Seriously though, the real 7.5 had more creasing along the top edge than I would have expected. Which is why I shouldn't buy anything based on CGC grade alone or what my phone or tablet shows.

    I love it. No large pieces missing, the edges are nice, the colors look good. Just perfectly symmetrical wear with plenty of eye appeal. A great looking 2.0 imho. This is the one to own.
