  1. Very sorry about the books. If I were in your situation, I would send a few to Andy ( @thirdgreenham ) for next year's Green Eggs grading contest. The really good graders could tell what breed of dog did the damage by the bite marks.
  2. One of my favorite tv shows of all time. The Avengers, starring Patrick Macnee (John Steed) and Diana Rigg (Emma Peel). I've been watching seasons 4 and 5 (with Mrs. Peel) on Tubi TV, and thought it would be nice to own the only issue in the original comic book series.
  3. I wouldn't add any tape to it. Save the pieces, though! Great book just the way it is.
  4. Please tell me that you're just checking to see if they're clean enough to wear. On second thought, don't.
  5. Thank you for watching "The Mark". A JB123 production. Starring (in order of appearance) The Shark .... JB123 The Skeptic... eccomic The Mark ... Ricksneatstuff Comcav ... himself The Clapping Guy ... Robot Man The Entrepreneur ... comicquant The Inspector ... JollyComics The Fan ... october Credits ... Cliff R.
  6. Shrevvy must be a stickler for spelling. Try "take" or "take it". Nevermind. He saw it.
  7. Hi Sharon, I can usually guess a CGC grade within +/- 3 grades. My simplified mathematical model was just a goal to shoot for. I'm not in the contest this year, but it looks like fun. And frustration.
  8. Let's say that you are a very consistent grader, and able to grade within plus or minus one grade every time. Let's also say that you're equally likely to undergrade, overgrade, or get a bullseye. Let's see how many points you would have after round 8. You've graded 16 books. 5 will be undergraded, 5 will be overgraded, and 5 will be bullseyes. The remaining book will most likely be over or under. 3 points for each over and under = 3 x 11 = 33 5 points for each bullseye = 5 x 5 = 25 58 points total. What are the odds of getting double bullseyes? 1 in 9. Quadruple bullseyes? 1 in 81 The current 2 leaders are better than this.
  9. That would be true if Andy picked a book at random from a pile with a normal distribution of 9.8 and 9.6 issues. He may own more 9.8's than 9.6's. Or he might just toss you a curveball because he read your post. And liked it.
  10. I found a very interesting post from 2013 that clarifies the grading of these books. Even saw a couple of blue label 7.0's displayed. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/275738-centerfold-detached/?do=findComment&comment=6265289
  11. Fan Boy had a Jughead #4 blue label CGC 6.0 on the boards awhile ago. The label noted a detached centerfold. Has anyone seen a higher graded blue label with this defect? https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/431625-closed/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-10185247
  12. The Joe's wear was limited to the area around the spine. The edges and both front and back cover looked very nice. Of course, I have 20-200 vision, so that helps.
  13. I should have entered this thing. I gave the Joe a 5.5 and the Pep a 1.8.
  14. Hey Gene, hire a private investigator to find out when @Ricksneatstuff and @Comcav sleep. Schedule your thread for those hours. I'm assuming they sleep. Haven't seen any evidence, though.
  15. Hi Gene, Still posting threads at midnight, I see... I would have grabbed that Fritzi Ritz if I had been awake!
  16. I don't remember ever seeing a label stating "page 3 printed without red ink" or the equivalent. I'd be surprised to see any mention of that on the label. There were many gold and silver age books with really terrible color registration on the internal pages, but I've never seen that noted on a label, either. Too common, in my opinion.
  17. @porcupine48 Jimmers, you need to compare it to an ordinary ASM #65. This is special, but you can't tell just by looking at it.
  18. I must have spent 20 minutes going over every inch of the front & back covers, comparing them to stock photos. Finally gave up and scrolled down to the interior pages. Lovely book! At least a 7.0. I'm green with envy.
  19. 7.0 easy. There is very little wear and creasing on this. The full back cover photo might be exaggerating the discoloration, since the angled shots of the back look much cleaner and brighter. I'll bet this book looks great in hand. Very nice book.
  20. They did. Check out Jughead 1 & Jughead 69, Archie 43 & Laugh 50. I'm sure there must be many more. These images are from MyComicShop.com
  21. Congratulations William! That Archie 56 was the deal of the month.
