  1. Glad they modified the listing… you have to ALWAYS be cautious when buying sketches and ESPECIALLY inked sketches!!!
  2. BWS Conan covers pop up ALMOST as often as Garfield dailies.
  3. Since the scan is not up here’s the image of the magazine for those interested- pretty cool!
  4. Nice assortment of pages and lots of comic history on display.. definitely got my vircasious art fix! I'd encourage those who missed the show to click on the link!
  5. It seems like the HA November auction is always a biggie… the Christmas effect is in full force:
  6. It seems as HA has accurately described the Dark Knight Returned pages…BUT a they dropped in so much fluff above I doubt many will make it to the unused panels reveal… But at least it’s in there!
  7. Seems as 300 smooth Bristol board is a nice option for pencil as well as ink work. You can pick up the pads at Michael’s or hobby lobby. The higher the number 400 or 500 the more expensive the paper but it seems to except ink a better especially if the artist is using nibs, but prob not necessary if they use markers or pens for inking. Michael’s has a 11x14 pad that might work nicely for you - Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth Pad (20 sheets) I think the 500 series paper is often sold as large single sheets, not as pads. you may would need to cut them down to more manageable sizes.
  8. BRING OUT DA ART!!! I’m Mr Vicarious, so I’ll enjoy seeing all y’all’s acquisitions without the financial pain of paying for em! I also enjoy hearing the art talk as well! Don’t tell Bill Cox you post over here or he’ll disown ya ; )
  9. I watched the first 20 or so lots on thurs, the thing that seemed a bit different from other HA signature auctions was the live bidding seemed quicker. It didn’t seem that there was as many bidding battles, so much so, it felt like a Comiclink auction… just kinda odd.
  10. It's almost go time, good luck today... "The more you bid, the more it's worth." I'm learning from some of the business types in the hobby. I have my eye on a piece and IF i win this particular piece I'm gonna take it into the shop and make it an "alternative cover" and release the new and improved "alternate cover" in the next auction... CHA CHING!!!! Shhhh keep this on the DL I already have the graphics mocked up....
  11. Seems as the prices are softening ALMOST enough to get me off the sidelines. I had my finger on the the button for two pages if there weren't a little bidding at the end I would have landed one. With Comiclink you can have more pieces end without a flurry of bidding at the close. If they fell through the cracks - I was in the basement ready to catch em ; )
  12. Wow that was a heck of an interesting article. Thanks for bringing it to our attention … many parallels come to mind when they explain the inter-workings of that fine art world and what is probably going on with our comic art business (seems like it can no longer be called a hobby). Thanks Alex!!!
  13. We seem to do a lot of detective work for heritage perhaps they’ll give us a little cut from the buyers premium on this lot ; )
  14. Maybe these investors can turn this mess around by putting a bulb “1st appearance of Mutant Ape” and adding X-Men trade dress on these NFTS and call them unused comic book covers!
  15. For those interested, Felix Lu interviewed Frank Miller’s art dealer Scott Free, who brought a lot of Dark Knight Returns pages to market. It’s a most interesting listen: https://www.felixcomicart.com/podcastdetail.asp?pId=21 It may answer some of your questions, but as Felix states “many years have passed” so memories may be a bit fuzzy. I know mine would be!
  16. Andy Robbins was a guest on a Felix Comic Art Podcast, at 40 mins in he begins to talk about how he decides what pieces to sell. I think you'll find his thought process interesting and might be a bit helpful to you. If you haven't listened to Felix Lu podcast, then you are in for a treat, it's great! Felix Comic Art :: The Felix Comic Art Podcast (Episode 7): Andy Robbins / ECCC Roundtable
  17. IF you do upgrade your X-Men artists please post em here, it would be fun to see your collection evolve! I love to watch others spend their money ; ) I’m Mr Vicarious!
  18. Crystar is not the title that a lot of people are clamoring for HOWEVER I stumbled onto this cool Crystar #3 cover in Albert Moy’s gallery and went from impressed to amazed as I zoomed into the image to look at this highly detailed artwork by the great Michael Golden! Drumroll ….. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=114311 details-
  19. WOW our hobby's very own Kelvin Mao directed a very good documentry on Dave Stevens. You feel like you really knew who he was at the end of the doc. It is a bit long, however if you are a comic art fan, but you'll enjoy lingering in the world of Dave Stevens for the whole 99 mins! I watched it on Amazon Prime not sure where else it is streaming. Here a link to the trailer- link Great job Kelvin!!!
  20. Brian, guys like you make this hobby fun! Thanks for putting this together, although I won’t be attending, I hope everyone has a great SDCC and takes advantage of these opportunities to reach outside your comfort zone and make new comic art buds. It always nice to hang with fans of the medium and talk shop.
  21. Come on man, live a little… GET BOTH, but tell the Doc you had tofu and steamed vegetables. Your doctor would be disappointed if you didn’t stretch the truth a bit ; )
  22. That’s a heck of a cool door prize, nice pick up for sure…20 years ago, a time when wheeling and dealing was a lot more carefree.
