  1. This is not the ho hum auction like the last HA auction was, so we should get a better gauge of the market direction. To add to the excitement of this auction, there is a lot of fresh to market Byrne/Austin X-Men and Starlord plus a wonderful Cap page… WOW! Now that is pure Byrne goodness and should make the consigner(s) verrry happy!
  2. I think everyone is taking notice, it’s a relief to see prices that seem to be heading in a more reasonable direction… it might not last, but for now we have a bit of hope!
  3. And yes it does feel like the art price correction has started.
  4. I saw a page I thought would serve a fun lil art fix. At the time it was sub $200 and thought who knows might could win it at $250, but like all Comiclink auctions I forgot about it. Went back later to see what it gaveled, and it was the exact same sub $200 price no movement! I like Comiclink, but for some reason I just forget about their auctions.
  5. New Teen Titans Who’s Donna Troy trade paperback cover drawn by the legend George Perez! This is a piece in T n T’s gone gallery. It’s background is made up by incredible character headshots. Pieces like this show an artist that doesn’t phone it in but gives his all to his work, I love George’s work and the passion he puts into his pieces. 760 views and 4 comments
  6. Link to CAF page From Fred Chamberlain’s gallery is a killer AMS 206 page from the talented artistic team of BYRNE and DAY. Fred wrote a nice description to this piece. You wouldn’t know it by Jonah’s comments, Spidey just came to his rescue! John did breakdowns for this issue and as you can see Day did a great finishing the art. I wish the two would have done more work together.
  7. Does Heritage still get it's juice? $10,500 BP $12,600
  8. Friends having conversations about how high they would go on certian pieces, and agreeing not to drive the price up on who wants it more, seems to happen about as often as dealers randomly bidding up pieces to make sure the floor stays at a certain level for comic art. Seems like that is a natural way of most auctions, and in the end those two actions probably balance each other out.
  9. Cool that you got you two pages, that’s a pretty good haul nowadays!
  10. Doesn’t HA offer some fee discount if you relist a piece that you bought from them? maybe the losses are too bad
  11. Good luck today! Hopefully the sellers and buyers will be equally happy. May acquiring your art fix not cause you to eat a month of ramen. Unless of course you LOVE Ramen!
  12. This cover reminds me of the greatest toy ever created:
  13. Our hobby does seem to have more than it’s share of hype men.
  14. It doesn’t help that this auction didn’t seem to have as many top notch pieces as past auctions. The feature art (thurs) was a bit lack luster. So when you don’t have the bidding frenzy right out of the gate, I think people begin to question how aggressively they want to go for their target(s). If prices aren’t only going up, but also down (see examples upthread) you better be sure you buy right before getting that second mortgage ; )
  15. I go so far to say THE MOST IMPORTANT Shaq comic book cover ever!
  16. I’m with ya, I like the cover to depict a scene from the story. If I see a bunch of heroes standing around posing, I figure the story is about heroes standing around, I can pass on that comic… no need to pick it up and look inside. No way I could walk by this one without picking it up!
  17. The first Spider-Verse was really fun and visually exciting, I’m looking forward to the follow up, I hope it delivers. OPPS I forgot, another recent Marvel flop - Eternals
  18. A question to ponder: Could the lackluster performance of the superhero movies perhaps start to have an effect on investor types’ diminishing interest comic book art? recent under-performers: Shazam! Fury of the Gods Antman: Quantumania Black Adam Wakanda Forever Morbius Wonder Woman 2
  19. Agreed, although it should have a bit of a discount built in for being a page that wasn't inked by Austin... Byrne/Villamonte isn't the art dream team.
  20. I was thinking the Paul Smith X-Men page would have gotten a lot more action. There wasn't that jaw dropping are "You're kiddin me!!!" moment that I've grown used to... which is a nice change!
