looks like 9.8's all around to me
I hope so.
The one of the 3 that I pulled I do not think it had a shot. To me it is maybe a 9.2 due to the 3 spine ticks that break color. Although at first I only saw two, but after looking closer there is a third.
But the other two look good. So

It's not a "C" if not one is keeping track.

The Locked Thread Point Challenge 2.0 has been officially retired. Thanks to all who would PM me and text when a thread was locked to score the game. While it was a fun part of the boards, like the first incarnation it caused more disruptions than necessary, It will be missed.
Thank you and that is all.
I can not say that I am surprised. Thank you for keeping track of this while it lasted.

I think it is really cool that there are still books like this out there that even CGC is seeing for the first time. Just imagine if you hadn't pointed this out... the book would have been encapsulated and no one would have been the wiser! I also wonder if any of the other 11 slabbed were identified correctly!
Thanks for sharing this piece of history!
I know at least two are correct. I had slabbed them a while back. I still have 6 copies raw. Have been waiting to see if they would note and break it out. I am still deciding when/if to submit. You are welcome. I was glad to get my originals graded. The rest I have picked up over the years.

These are very cool! Shouldn't they have labeled one 'Raffle Store Edition' and the other 'Raffle Customer Edition' to make it even clearer? That appears to be what you had noted on your MECHANICAL ERROR submission form... or am I missing something?
I always appreciate your knowledge of this entire era of Superman exclusives, variants, etc.
Thank you. It was what I noted, but short of changing the entire census they had to keep one the way it was originally listed and add a new variant . This was the way they chose to do it. I am just glad that they added it and documented it.

In the case of Dylan, he demonstrates how someone truly retires from the game. You do not retire from the game. You are retired from the game.

Can you retire from this? If I was Capra, I would retire as champ.
Dylan killing it as King Midas in reverse.
and that concludes tonight's color commentary ...
Most of my meteoric rise was due to what you refer to as the reverse King Midas and the other runner up. I will refer to them as the bottom two.
Now that both of them have been permanently banned, well it will take a new crop to gain any more steam.
I guess with the new people coming in from cards do have potential for this, I have to remember to keep myself out of the
The real credit goes to Buzzetta as none of this would be possible with him keeping track of it.

Best of luck with these! Some pretty nice books for sure and the pics sure do look promising!
Thank you. I had a hard time picking which ones made the cut this submission. I went through just 3 of my potential submission short boxes and opened those two packs. Ended up pulling about 60 issues, which got narrowed down to these 25 and as you can see I am also gambling on this one with a few CPR's and a crossover (although it will not be graded as such since it will be cracked at CFP) , but two of the Platinum 500's are the error that were not noted. Thank you.

Wow, you have two Legacy of Superman second printings, that’s like capturing two Big Foots! Good luck my friend.
Thank you. I actually have 3, but my last one came back a 9.2 due to scuffing on back cover which I missed and some dull blade issues along the top when book was manufactured. I have been debating when to send these, but figured I might as well send them in this one. No time like the present.

I now have my first CGC purchase for 2021, continuing my streak from 2020 of hard to find printing variants. Behold, Action Comics #685 Third Printing!
This piece is only my fifth addition in the Funeral for a Friend multiple print variant category. This is also the first book with three or more printings where I now have each variant in 9.8 grade, and I started way back in 2007 or 08.
I'm really pleased with this latest addition, I have another one for my Reign of the Supermen set coming my way hopefully next Monday - my collection is off to a good start in 2021. Last year I was able to acquire several 9.8 graded books I'd dreamt about having for years, including Adventures of Superman #505 Collector's Edition, Superman #73 Second Printing, Action Comics #683 Second Printing and Adventures of Superman #498 Third Printing to name a few. Last year was also a real shot of vitamin C to my Death and Return of Superman registry set, I started the year ranking in 5th or 7th place if I recall correctly and ended in 3rd place. Speaking of rankings, my friend @Iconic1sachieved the the number one position along with best set presentation in 2020, his set truly is an iconic 1! Don't worry @Iconic1s, you're in no danger of being passed by me anytime soon in the set rankings, I still have a long way to go, I also have yet to go down the Signature Series rabbit hole, so, when the day does come (if, which at this point is a really big 'if') and I have every issue, your signature points will keep you well above. For those who my not be familiar with @Iconic1sset, he's spent many months tracking down all of the illusive hard to find books raw, submitting several invoices to CGC and ending up with many special books, including several lone 9.8 copies as of this writing for many of these rare multiple print variants, his set is worth checking out.
https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/Comics/SetTypeDetail.aspx?SetTypeID=478
As far as my registry set goes, I'm currently at 60% completion, with 59 books registered for a set of 98 books. I'm really pleased with my progress and I don't mind the slow and steady path. I've kept myself motivated over the years by breaking this set down into subsets:
Doomsday Teasers - got all four of them! (this was actually not easy to complete!)
Doomsday! (I have six of seven - damn you Justice League America #69!)
Funeral for a Friend (Need two more)
Reign of the Supermen! (nine to go)
The Collector's Editions (Just need Adventures of Superman #501)
The multiple printings
The Platinum Editions
The multiple printings are my favorite, I'm almost at the halfway mark with 19 out of 40 in 9.8 grade.
I'd like to thank @Iconic1sand @onlyweaknesskryptonitefor their knowledge support throughout this journey. I'd also like to thank @FoggyNelson, @1950's war comics, @Bibbo, @kenaran, @kav and @Vfactor1 for all their likes and comments throughout my various journals. I'd also like to welcome newcomer @JoeyClarkKent, I can't wait to see where your collection goes from here.
Congratulations! I definitely have enjoyed seeing your journey toward completing this set. Good luck!

I also saw another 9.8 of the same issue several months back, also on eBay. I think the price was $150 or $200, or maybe a bit more. I would have gone for it but one of the corners bothered me.
