Hey there....that's the famous Spider-Roach
Nah man, since it's from 2008 when he could still see it was Stan's way of FU-ing the community of sketch & signature profiteers

I think I read somewhere-- possibly in the window bag thread itself-- that Stan Lee's handlers do not allow people to use window bags - or at least for some time did not allow them.
Which is ridiculous for starters but so is paying 100 bucks to deface a book imo.
If it makes you happy-- go for it. Personally, I don't see the need.
Really? You'd think that window bags were designed specifically for Stan Lee. Having him sign an important book today without one would amount to a suicide mission!

Glad I don't have to live in a place like that.
It's really a very nice city with the best weather but just like with any other large metro crimes are committed. Even in a suburb like mine. No such thing as too much security for your prized collectibles!

jeebus - where do you live? I just keep the Rottweilers and AR-15 handy.
Miami FL.
One home invasion is enough.

I'm so into vintage stuff that collecting books never gets old. I'm just fascinated by a vintage book in pristine condition!
The thing that does get on my nerves is the challenge of having to secure them all. Buying a safe or safes/drilling them down/concealing the safes with plywood. Alarm system , impact windows (although you need those anyways). Then running out of room in the safes & having to buy another one etc...etc
So in my view security is the biggest pain in the a*s. This especially applies to me since I recently had a home invasion.

These are so friggin cool !
Thanks for the heads up about your 151 in 9.6.
ASM 151 is the first comic book I ever bought, from newsstand "stationery" store a quarter mile from my house in fall 1975.
wow you bought that issue in '75 when it came out! Holy moly! That predates my time for sure. Did they get released a month prior to the month listed on the books back then?
If I ever decide to let this go you'd definitely get first dibs for sure!

I've personally experienced two different 'mishaps'. First, a newly introduced corner crease. The grade didn't change, just an accident while encapsulating. My second incident involved a significantly sized cookie crumb, wedged right against the comic in the inner well. On a friend's book, I saw a corner that was sliced, probably by the knife or scissors used to remove the book. Alignment in the slab is always a risk but, interestingly enough, I have mot experienced it. The only reason I will reslab is if there is damage to the slab, not just to upgrade to a newer slab. What a waste of time and money.
Ok now you're freaking me out. I just submitted 2 for a reslab one because the book was moving slightly inside the well the other because the slab had too many scratches & looked like it went through a world war or two!

Sorry, without an emoticon, I can't tell if you were joking or serious.
I didn't phrase the question right. I meant to ask if a page misalignment would be one of the mishaps that would occur? If not then what could go wrong during a reslab?

Great book, Venom Black Error Variant ! It looks so good with the old Red Label, PLEASE don't get it reslabbed. I think the Red Label, adds value and I would not chance the possibility of a mishap with reslabbing. 9.6, in an old label is a great grade. Unless you absolutely see a pressable defect that is holding it to 9.6 don't get it pressed, especially if it's a keeper. I cannot imagine popping the staple from a press. Respect the integrity of the book in it's pure, original state.
What is a mishap? Is that when the pages misaligne from the cover during the reslab?

Wow what a masterpiece! And the black cover ! I'm happy for you. Pages white?
If you remove the mylar you could avoid some glare.

USPS doesn't shut down. It's self sustaining....supposedly.
I know but I think the postmaster general's office might be. USPS is only partially run by the government. Won't effect them

Because why have only one 181, when you can (now) have three? Although the 7.5 is the only one currently in my physical possession - the 8.0 is in good hands trying to better itself, and ComicLink was threatening to baseball bat my knees if I didn't pay up for the 9.0, at least until I explained that I previously arranged putting two books in the current auction to offset the cost, then would pay the difference.
Got this one off eBay, under current FMV too
Wonder if centering issues are unique to this particular book or is it just me? I've only seen maybe 2 IH 181s that are perfectly centered.
Congratulations on the books though! That book is a treasure no matter what centering or condition!

Did you send it out by registered mail? CGC doesn't require it but recommends you ship that way. Personally I take no chances & always ship registered to CGC even though I'm in Miami

Hi OrangeCrush! Some nice books you have there! But just a friendly heads up, you might want to block out the label of the competition. Sometimes feathers can be ruffled around here if posting books that have been certified by other companies. Just my . Anyhow, nice books and WTTB!
I was thinking of posting this heads up but was unsure whether or not the chat boards had changed the rules. Heck I'd love to post my non CGC slabs without cropping!

Didn't even know what Wein's sig looked like. I'd crack open a few slabs for that & Trimpe's for sure. Did you get it already signed or have it signed at a convo?
Check that, would have cracked open. Forgot they both recently passed away.

Ahhh the Hitman issue! Love it LoL! Way to go! The punisher issues are a glaring weakness in my collection. I posted the first Jigsaw one with nightcrawler a page or two back

That's a gorgeous Spidey book!! Bright, vibrant colors and a clean Stan Lee sig with fantastic placement! Congrats on the pick up
Thanks bud. I've been feverishly searching for a 9.6 but it's proven to be quite the challenge!!

It is like that in a lot of hobbies since 2008. The desirable keys have gone up and the run of mill common stuff have gone down.
In Star Wars action figures the carded 12 backs have risen in value.
In Magic the Gathering the Power of Nine have risen in value.
In sportscards the Mickey Mantle and Tom Brady rookie cards have risen in value.
In books the first printings of James Bond and Harry Potter have risen in value.
In videogames the first Zelda, Metroid and Megaman have risen in value.
Collectors want the keys. It is as simple as that.
No rocket science knowledge required.
Mantle rookie is still going up? Wow that's crazy! Don't follow baseball cards too much although I still have a Lou Brock rookie card from '62 I bought in early 90's
