9.4 or 9.6 at least probably higher if pressing is your sort of thing. Here are three books from that box that I did drop off for grading at a con in Nashville when I first joined the boards

I was looking for an IM 5 in a 9.6! If you ever have it graded & it's a 9.6 white or ow/w I'd pay a pretty penny for that if sold

Actually since that did happen in 2008 just about all Marvel silver age keys have doubled in price. If the historical collapse of 2008 couldn't stop the rise in prices of silver age keys we will find then the trajectory points to be continued upward for Marvel silver age keys.

I hope you're right! I think the main factor in any valuation increases occurred as a result of Hollywood making superhero movies. 2002 Spider-man movie was a game changing event in my view. These movies may create artificial highs followed by dips but they help in the long run. We should all be thankful for the MCU

Stocks are up - wages seem to be on the rise - people seem to have some disposable income so things should be good for the time being.  Tons of collectors are just hitting their 40s so I don't see things slowing down for awhile but if you are hoping the rule of 25 will kick in 20 years from now I think you will be surprised on the outcome in 2037.  But like you said - it's all guesses at this point and what do I know about the future.

Not sure the stock market has any relationship with the comic collecting universe as those conditions have existed for a number of years now. In fact this has always been a fringe hobby that most of the time has nothing to do with macroeconomics. Only thing that can possibly effect the hobby would be a 2008 type economic shock where people freak out.

As long as these characters exist there will always be a desire for important books  IMO. That'll only be augmented with the newly strengthened MCU doing it's thing.

Dude I totally agree with you! Stan's company doesn't care. E bay doesn't care! Their making money!!!!!!

Ok forgive my cluelessness on the matter but how would Stan's company profit from this? I get eBay's financial interest to look away but why Stan's company? Does Stan get some commission from the phony sig sales?

I went to the toilet, did a search on my phone for Harley motorcycle  matchmaking dating site and found a website with a picture of this stud muffin

And after checking out his high grade set of 100 pagers, I decided to join this website

Thought that was Lorenzo Lamas from "Renegade" for a second

Just feel lucky that the guy is not smart enough to know how to really make this work. If they were doing fake Jack Kirby signatures inside the cover on the splash pages of JK related books, they might even have bidding wars going on for their goods-- provided they did a better job with the forgery. The grade/desirability of the book would not be a factor though I guess you could say that for Stan books too-- but I haven't seen anyone try this angle yet.

and while they were at it-- why not try to push some fake Steve Ditko ones out there?

Maybe they don't want to put too much of a spotlight on themselves by making their scam too obvious with Ditkos

He doesn't have to defend anything here or on eBay. How could he defend them anyway? They're all $25 garbage. Defaced bargain box trash. eBay has no interest in his business model. Where he may have to eventually wind up defending himself is in civil and/or criminal court. I had a conversation with two reps at Stan Lee's marketing/booking agency, bringing their attention to his 50 "Sold Listings" of the past 2 weeks and beyond (I've been keeping track). Where eBay has no interest in sellers moving total garbage and obvious forgeries like these, Stan's people most certainly do. The two people I spoke to were surprised that even twice reported to eBay, eBay's agents given a tutorial by me on Stan Lee's signature through the years with reference listings as examples for genuine Stan autographs, eBay turned a blind eye to what they also noted as blatant forgeries as far as shutting it down.

Could eBay be sued for facilitating the sales of such forgeries?

lol Tarantula sure, but I meant while ASM 129 is first appearance of punisher, and ASM 135 is his 2nd appearance but in ASM 134 the Punisher has a cameo appearance.... it's small like IH 182.... but that was where I was drawing the correlation :) sorry for the confusion.

IH 182 and ASM 134 are small books, but imo and really it IS just an opinion....by the time the other first 3-4 of appearances of the Punisher and Wolverine get out of range, they'll be logical successors... Might be a bit of a stretch really, but I consider Wolvie and Punisher "A" listers right up there with Batman and Superman... and Spider-man.. That is probably just showing my a age a bit  :$

I'd probably go for 135 before 134.  I agree with you on their status in the comic world. Though I'm much more partial to wolverine obviously. I try and be as much of a completist as I can. Just haven't gotten to the Punishers yet. Trying to concentrate on Venoms for time being. Already posted 300. Not showing your age since these legends are timeless!

    THAT"S AWESOME !!!

Are you not interested in IH 182?

    How about ASM 134... ?

Yeah of course but it's on the back burner for the time being. Sooo many books to be had so little funds to have them with! Wolve's appearance is only 2 panels &  a small one where he's going up on the plane.

    I'll get to it though

No. I was outbid 7 hours before the auction ended. The bidder has 300+ bids in the past 30 days, with 62% of them with this seller. I looked at 50 pages of feedback with the seller, and did not see a single feedback from the bidder. The bidder who outbid me also bid on like 20 of the seller's auctions ending yesterday that had bids. The bidder won only one or two.

Because of this, I got scared off worrying about the possibility of shilling. The seller may be totally legit, the bidder may be a great customer who never leaves feedback, I don't know.

I am interested in 100 pagers again, and am trying improve my collection. I am not in any huge hurry though.

Another Shazam will come along eventually.

I just wish the "taking offers" guy on Heritage would sell me the 9.8 Adventure 416, or at least make a counteroffer. xD

They never respond if you make an offer on Heritage. Don't know why they even bother? Only thing it accomplishes is to waste 72 hours of your time!

  11. Already posted these & I couldn't pick just one.

Secret wars was the first book I purchased after deciding to get back in the collecting game. 9.6 white not from CGC.

Iron man 5 is the only book I ever sold (great condition) 20 years ago & I regretted it since! I'll probably be upgrading it at some point. They're far from most valuable but hold a ton of sentimental value!

Picked up 23 pieces of original art this year.  Of the pieces that I've posted publicly on ComicArtFans.com (my gallery is here), these are my top 3 favorites:

Gil Kane - Amazing Spider-Man #98 cover (my second favorite issue of Spidey ever after #121 and one of my all-time favorite covers)

Bernie Wrightson - Frankenstein Plate (published in the Marvel Illustrated Novel "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" from 1983 - just sickeningly awesome by Bernie)

Richard Giordano - Marvel Feature v. 2 (feat. Red Sonja) #1, page 1 splash (this is one of the first few comics I ever read - finder's fee paid for information that leads to the acquisition of the original cover artwork)

    Beautiful Spider-man piece! Congrats!

I'm partial to ASM 122 as far as favorites. I recently posted it on "this week in collection" thread.
