  1. I don't like them but only because the artwork is too modern looking. They would be much much more desirable if the artwork didn't look like a modern artist drew it. Take the avengers label for example...you think that artwork fits in with any avengers issue drawn by Heck or Kirby? Id say they almost look like different characters entirely. Same goes for the spider-man. That being said I still like the Daredevil & iron man labels. I think they're almost universal in that they can mesh with older & modern comic artwork. Maybe the venom one can work but I'm just not digging how they drew the eyes. I'd love the labels on anything modern though I wouldn't pay extra. So the idea is intriguing but they need to expand them to include some vintage artwork
  2. Would you happen to know if that was within range of FMV at the time? Collecting became popular around the early or mid 70's if I'm not mistaken?
  3. Yeah you're right. I'm wondering since I want to submit a page to be slabbed but want the back side of the page to be on the front of the slab. I'm pretty sure I'd have to request that in writing.
  4. Oh yeah I didn't even realize that! You're right I don't think there's an ad after that page. I don't know if he meant that both covers were missing on 180 though? It could just be the front cover. Even if it had the back cover still there I think I'd probably take it off just to have that page show on the slab!
  5. Hey just curious did you have to request that you wanted the side of the page where the ad is to be on the front of the slab? I honestly don't know how they decide whether it gets an NG or a PG designation? Anyways why would that be important to you? It looks great the way it is
  6. It would be tough to find an original detatched cover for one let alone both! Assuming you find one or both you'd have to staple them on ensuring a "restored" purple label. If you submit them for grading coverless you would get an "incomplete" label which I don't know the color They would still assess the page quality. Its still valuable and well worth the cost of grading even coverless IMO. If you try and staple a replacement cover (even if it's an original one from another book) that would be frowned upon. CGC would notice the staples were not original resulting in a purple restored label notating both staples were replaced. I honestly don't know if they'd be able to distinguish between a replacement original cover and the actual cover it was printed with? Either way it would get a restored label. Imo you're better off submitting them coverless. At least it's honest & not a "Frankenbook" with a replacement cover. Not only would it be weird but maybe less valuable if anyone knew it wasn't the original cover.
  7. This is inconsequential compared to others but I sold a 9.2 - 9.4 iron man 5 in late nineties for ~ 50 dollars to the LCS that's still there btw. I thought at the time the only comics to ever be worth anything were early spideys. This was the dead zone time for comics right before cgc came to be.
  8. I'll give the Jehovah's witness people money not to knock on my door anymore!
  9. Yeah man some sellers are hitting the snooze! 😴 There was also 2 GSXM 9.6s both white similar eye appeal (i think) sold last Sunday on heritage & Ebay. The HA auction went for 7200 the Ebay sold for 6355 but I don't know if it was a bin or auction on Ebay. If I'm bidding on a pricey item I'll look to Ebay but if I ever auction anything I'm running to heritage or clink!
  10. I agree with most of this but I don't know that it's a matter of the rank & file guys not taking pride in their work. I'm sure they work very hard with the heavy workload they deal with everyday. I would blame management for maybe employing new materials and or machinery that was not quite ready for prime time for the new slabs. That wouldn't be the worker's fault. You are right in that with all the new business they're getting with all these crossover subs and increased market share on top of what they already had as top grading company they should bulk up staff to adequately meet new demand. Doesn't seem like they're doing that considering the turn around times. A reholder takes a month if you're lucky. Do better cgc!
  11. I like MCS! They're very flexible on time payments. Of course there's a fee for those but so is everywhere else. The scans they use are very clear with most including back covers on certified books. If I had a complaint is they don't hold orders if you need them to ship on a certain day to avoid missed deliveries on packages that require signature. They just ship out when they ship out
  12. What are the chances of this happening on Ebay? https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/superhero/the-amazing-spider-man-129-marvel-1974-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/a/121927-11363.s
  13. Is that Don Adams from get smart on the back cover?
  14. He put up lottery balls but I think those distinctions would depend on the collector's personal preference. I would value some bronze age like X-94 as major grails but others that are into gold silver age would see them as less than major. Maybe the term "key" is more definitive?
  15. Seems accurate. Id guess somewhere between 2.5 - 3.5. Maybe the staple defect would matter more if not for the 2 front corner pieces missing. I think those missing pieces get hammered. The relatively clean back cover and the spine would cushion the impact of the staple. I'd love to see graders notes and the grade for this! If not for the staple and missing corners it looks like a 5.5 or maybe even 6
  16. The mobile site is designed to give the consumer minimal information I have the app and I can use the desktop Ebay and mobile Ebay in my browser. You sure about that?
  17. Sometimes I do but other times I don't. I noticed when I have a larger sum of Ebay bucks I get a notification otherwise not I saw it on the desktop site but it only occured to check because I came across this thread. Otherwise I wouldn't have known
  18. The labels are definitely a good fit with the artwork on those books. Really nice I love them
  19. I love how Ebay does their absolute best to keep people's Ebay bucks a secret! If you only use either the app or the mobile site you'd have no earthly idea you have any available. Way to go Ebay ! When's the last time they had a real coupon that people can actually use instead the one they have now that only applies to a list of sellers? Nothing for father's day, nothing for memorial day, nothing for 4th of July....really Ebay? Ok Ebay over.
  20. I'm sure this was mentioned somewhere along this thread but maybe the official death of the puritan silver age was the introduction of drug stories in '71. Also when the comics code authority decided to get with the times and approve them after holding out for a little while
