  5. What's the Lone Ranger though without his horse?
  6. Well I didn't hurt myself but I almost had a different kind of disaster involving my double wide comic boxes. Several weeks ago I had taken the two boxes of "To Be Upgraded" and "Doubles for Trade" down from the top left of the filing cabinet on the left in which I keep my really good comics: It was awkward but quite simply I needed to re-familiarize myself with the precise contents of those two boxes. But I realized that the two boxes on the floor constituted a safety hazard since when they're on the floor I have no room to step back and I could be thrown off balance backward when I pull out one of the top drawers. So I heaved the boxes back up into their upper left corner. But I'd forgotten that I'd left the key on top of the filing cabinet right above the lock. With horror I realized that sliding the box toward the wall I might have pushed the key back behind the cabinet! That would have been a disaster since those cabinets are really heavy even without the comics. Fortunately I had not. When I lifted the box again the key was underneath it. What a relief!
  7. Four more of my Felix the Cat comics:

  13. Speaking of the artwork in Aquaman stories, the character who underwent the most change over time was Aqualad. Here's how Ramona Fradon drew Aqualad: With freckles! When Nick Cardy began his run on the Aquaman feature stories with Showcase 31, his take on Aqualad was initially very consistent with Fradon's: Eventually though Cardy rid Aqualad's face of freckles and darkened his hair from brown to black while making it much wavier: As he grew older, Aqualad got a rather thick-thighed not entirely svelte girlfriend Tula in issue #33: The changes in the way Cardy rendered Aqualad became particularly evident in the Teen Titans title: When Jim Aparo took over the art duties in Aquaman 40, Aqualad was clearly older and had, in modern day parlance, acquired a grittier edge: Here from issue #43: Aqualad's epic battle against the Bugala took place in Aquaman #44-48. To my eyes it was under Jim Aparo's rendering that Aqualad really came into his own.
  14. No. Back to Brainstorm though in issue #2:
  15. Oh, I agree! That's a cool cover.
  16. A pretty girl to be sure but hopefully that's not supposed to be Mary Jane Watson: If so the artist needs his eyes examined.
  17. I distinctly remember seeing this ad in the pages of a comic through which I was flipping on the spinner rack at Les' Variety in August 1962: I was awestruck! It wasn't until early 1964 (I think) though that I got my hands on a copy. Here's the one from my present day collection:
  18. Five more of my Superman comics:
  19. Good thing too! Leaves less money for destructive personal habits.
