  1. Perhaps my favourite cover set on Krypton:
  2. I've always confounded these two covers: I had to check to see which one I had in my collection. It turned out that I had both although I had a scan of only the first one.
  3. Indeed. You're too old for videogaming.
  4. The duplicitous Cat Girl! 9
  5. Collecting from customers and then paying the bill at the newspaper's office was standard practice in those days. I had to do it weekly delivering the London Free Press which was published six days a week. Was the Valley Times a daily or a weekly?
  6. A fabulous cover! But there's conflicting data on whether Neal Adams or Joe Orlando was the cover artist.
  7. Redheads! Who doesn't like gorgeous redheads? Somehow my comics feature a whole bunch of them! Here are some of my favourites: Miss Arrowette from World's Finest 113 Black Cat Hawkgirl Lana Lang Mera Northland copy Northland copy Vicki Vale What then are some of your favourites?
  8. Among the DC comics I bought in July 1962 was this one: It had this teaser ad for Comicpacs: Hey, wow! Four comics in one shot and a penny cheaper to boot! But wait a minute here. How do you know which comics you're getting on the inside of the bag? What if you get one you already have or something yucky like Dobie Gillis or Bob Hope? I'll pass and pick my own.
  9. I'm strong and fit and I have no joint or other pains whatsoever despite being in the oldest cohort. My hearing isn't what it used to be though and I need to get my right eye checked out again. My goal is to keep picking up comics from other (probably younger) collectors throwing in the towel and be the oldest active collector left standing. We'll see how I'm doing in another thirty years.
  10. Five more of my Tales of the Unexpected comics: Bethlehem copy
  11. Five more of my House of Secrets comics featuring the very pleasantly stacked Elsa:
  12. From the World's Greatest Comic Magazine to the World's Best Selling Comics Magazine!
  13. Do you want our own age or our guess as to the average age of comic collectors?
  14. Yes, that's a large part of it. And I agree that DC shot the canon for Superman, Batman and their other heroes decades ago. So yes, the damage has already been done. But!!! Do you believe allowing other publishers would miraculous restore Superman and Batman's previous continuity? Don't you think that the free-for-all that would result would make things exponentially worse? Continuity? That concept would be just a joke to non-DC writers as opposed to the minor inconvenience it's been for DC writers. Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm an old curmudgeon, i.e. Silver Age DC fan.
  15. The two I like the best from the ones you posted are Tales of Suspense 1 and Strange Tales 97.
  16. Can someone explain to me why Captain America has more fans than does Blonde Phantom?
  17. Here's another very cool Harvey:
  18. Neal Adams' comic art was a real eye opener when it hit the pages of DC comics in the late 1960's. He raised the bar for comic art. Here are scans of my fifteen favourite Neal Adams' covers from among the comics I have in my collection:
  19. So here's a scan of my present day copy of Superman 158 cover dated January 1963: And working from left to right and then downward I've identified all the comics showing on the rack of Comicpacs: Superman 150 Many Loves of Dobie Gillis 11 Sugar and Spike 38 Fox and the Crow 71 Superman 150 World's Finest Comics 122 Tomahawk 78 Action Comics 283 Adventures of Bob Hope 72 The above issues all initially hit newsstands in October and November 1961 and the only one I have in my present day collection is this one:
