  1. Personally, I am wary of books like She-Hulk, Nova, etc that came out late 70s, early 80s. LOTS of copies and while I personally like Nova, I feel the demand for these characters is not there. Unless I am wrong, I just don't think enough She-Hulk or Nova fans exist to propel this book to new heights and I feel an Eternals #1 type scenario more likely with these two books. There are LOTS of people buying though hoping for return on the back end but if all you have are buyers hoping to flip, that creates a problem. Granted, She Hulk and Nova are probably much more known than Eternals but I still think both books could plummet back to Earth after they reach their peaks because the supply will vastly outstrip the demand. They are the Bronze Age equivalents of ASM 361 to me. They have value but I feel it is inflated currently and I don't see long term growth on them. But hey, just my 3 cents.
  2. Obviously its sad when a long time collector moves on from their prized possessions but again, always nice when it is done on your terms. I wish you best of luck on the sales and I am sure the knowledge you have has been shared with others who can carry on that passion (and hopefully add one of these awesome pieces to their collections should they desire it).
  3. They are very behind. It's been the case now for a year +. If you aren't willing to wait a year, it is best to not submit. Or try someone else but they too are very VERY behind.
  4. I just mean I go by sales data now. I don't care if a book was found in the 1000's back in 1985 in pristine shape. If the books sells for $40-60 now, I know that is its relative value and base my offer on that. The fact of what it "should be worth" has no meaning to me I mean, a good portion of the books on the list still go for massive amounts of money because of their desirability.
  5. I entered only wanting to compete for the CGC prize. It was great to see people offer prizes but I did not want to do this. Had I been in top 10, I would have opted out of picking a prize (having not donated one). I think this aspect could use some work. Maybe just CGC prizes? Maybe $20 prize donations as an admission to play to get only serious folks on board? Something different that the current format though would be my suggestion.
  6. To me, "warehouse find" means as little as "from my personal collection" when I buy a book.
  7. Switching a book out would damage the case so unless you see signs of that, it is the 8.0 book that CGC put in there. Now, if YOU don't think it looks 8.0 well that is entirely fine. Some CGC graders are more lenient than others and sometimes their opinions don't meet our standards. So if you don't love what you see and feel it is more 7.0-7.5 to you, then look for a copy that does make you happy.
  8. I mean, without the CGC case, every 9.4 has a chance at being a 9.2 and vice versa. Go with the one you like that looks better. To me, the newsstand factor should not be considered here at all but that is just me.
  9. Even with the sub crease, I think it has 6.0 potential. It is mostly visible on the back from what I can tell anyways, which I think bodes well for a better grade.
  10. Yeah what from the pictures is causing you concern? High grade book from a seller that sells a TON of books. Looks like a 9.0 to me….
  11. I agree m the same way. Usually I’ve found I’m 0.5 generous or 1.0 harsher
  12. That’s what I thought. I had it at 2.0 Was 0.5 generous on Beware Was a grade harsh on Atom and Surfer nailed the hulk (schwing)
  13. Hi all, This book is a 9.2-9.4 contender. The problem? This small stain of some sort on the back. Might clean up as it appears crusty but likely a yellowy spot would remain. How far down does it knock the book? 8.0? 7.0? Worse? Better? I appreciate your thoughts!
  14. Looks slightly better than a raw copy I am sending in and I am confident the one I am sending is 8.5-9.0. So definitely 9.2-9.4 potential here.
  15. I was 0.5 for Rex (to me that’s more than a chunk missing and incomplete) 8.0 for Lawbreakers- man that thing looked sharp! 5.5 on Action- I was gonna hammer those spine ticks and say 4.5 but I told myself I’m too harsh. I should stick to my guns 7.5 on Scoob- like zoinks I was close man! 9.6 on ASM- didn’t see a flaw so I’ll blame it on viewing on my phone
  16. Thanks! That’s how I felt (9.2-9.4 potential) but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. The small tear on this book seems production related but you never know. I have a similar one on my ASM 316 and that book (along with some spine ticks) got 9.0. This has a flawless spine so that’s why I dared to dream higher
  17. I’d be happy with that. It shall be pressed and cleaned for sure and is likely part of my next sub
