  2. Might be the best purchase I have ever made on the boards! grading was spot on or better. All books present fantastic for grade & price. Shipping was fast and well packed. Ed does not disappoint! Clear scans and no hype just great books!
  3. I expected as much the cover whites are screaming! gratz on owning that copy
  4. How are the spokane's in hand? aren't they supposed to be insanely white due to the original owner storing them in a fridge of some sort or am I confused with another pedigree?
  5. spidey 5 is the first single digit spidey i ever owned. Got a VG or maybe VG/FN at a con for $200 in seattle back in 1999. It's one of my favorite all - time spidey stories. Always stuck with me that the dealer said how he loved the way Ditko drew all the machines. Its a great book on so many levels.
  6. - no one wants to try to follow that act.
  7. supa posts once in awhile over at the oakland raider message boards( we are both long time fans) on scout.com other than that I haven't seen him.

  9. Top notch deal in every way. Superior packaging - thanks Jason
  10. awesome lineup of books! BTW that #2 looks familiar
  11. very nice! i have a low grade copy of that book. It and 21 are the only low grades I have in my FF run. Need to upgrade to about 6.0- wouldn't happen to have any undercopies you want to part with would you?
  12. NIce! so Supa left voluntarily because his rep was shot or did this devolve into perma-bans for him and/or other members?
  13. Last post was in 2013. I don't know what the circumstances were as most likely the useful posts would most likely have been nuked. He promised a NM #98 to someone as prize from a raffle or something. Refused to pay for shipping to the UK. Link. Thats too bad Supapimp allowed that to happen. He had a really good rep and was well liked when I got here. Looking at that link it appears the whole shipping to UK thing was just an excuse, Airfield and several others offered to pay shipping he just backed out and sold the book elsewhere long before COI called him out.
  14. I love Ditko as well. However, I believe it to be a myth that Ditko wanted the Goblin to be revealed as someone other than Norman, as someone the readers didn't even know; besides, this was already done in the Crime Master storyline. Ditko started sneaking Norman in as early as ASM 23 as a rich business friend of J.J.J., finally introducing him by name in ASM 37. Ditko made it clear the Goblin had a laboratory and a fairly nice hideout where he'd change back into his secret identity (that was hidden from the reader). In ASM 37 Ditko reveals Norman to be unscrupulous in his dealings with Mendel Stromm and Ditko shows it was Norman that killed Stromm (but how, since earlier in the story Spidey recognizes that the gunshot that killed Stromm came from outside a second story window; so how could Osborn possibly be that high the air?) In ASM 38 Norman acts even more suspicious, disguising himself to meet up with underworld figures in order to put a contract out on Spider-Man. And then there's this - in a 2009 essay Ditko wrote for The Comics, stating: Now digest this: I knew from Day One, from the first GG story, who the GG would be. I absolutely knew because I planted him in J. Jonah Jameson’s businessmans club, it was where JJJ and the GG could be seen together. I planted them together in other stories where the GG would not appear in costume, action.” “I wanted JJJ’s and the GG’s lives to mix for later story drama involving more than just the two characters” “I planted the GG’s son (same distinctive hair style) in the college issues for more dramatic involvement and storyline consequences” “So how could there be any doubt, dispute, about who the GG had to turn out to be when unmasked?” First I have heard of that. Makes me wish even more he had penciled the interiors of 39 & 40 being as it was a confrontation he had been a part of setting up for some time. Well i guess i should be thankful for the runs he did on Spidey and Doc Strange they are respectable runs. Not quite KIrby FF lengthy but long enough that they made their mark for sure.
  15. I sold my TOS 39 CGC 6.5 so that has left me with a run of 40-99 - so I guess that left a pretty big hole!
  16. 7.5 Blue for me. I also do not believe that 4.0 SS comes close to a 7.5 Blue price. GPA seems to back that up. Added note, I myself am not into SS books on Bronze and older comics. I have no idea why.... Copper and up I am all about it. +1 +2 - Blue label might be easier to move as well due to people who don't collect sig books. I know for myself if i did go th sig route for investment or collecting I don't think I would be interested in a VG range book just to get a sig, I think I would be dropping big $$$ on a high grade with one. Not to say it definitely wouldn't move at a price you want just that 7.5 blue sell like hotcakes if priced at or around GPA
  17. Probably THE best ASM cover. Romita killed it right off the bat funny cause I loved Dtko so much i always wished he agreed to do this storyline before leaving. Ditko puts in his notice, doesn't have time to do the covers so we get the Romita covers and Ditko interior that would be for me! Oh well i know it was this storyline that was a big part of the dealbrealer between Lee/Ditko as Ditko thought goblin should be a stranger not Harry's father. Ditko was definitely onto something "small world syndrome " has wrecked so many storylines over the years- just look at Lucas prequels- 3po and R2 built by darth vader and yoda good friends with chewbacca? Absurd! all too often heroes wind up with half or more of their everyday aquaintances receiving superpowers of their own or their loved ones constantly in danger from superfoes by happenstance. I always thought that was poor storytelling.
  18. ^thats high praise coming from the man! thank you!
  19. It's nice. Just don't understand why they don't CGC'ed it. Looks to me those in the market for a bargain minty copy have found their book. BTW I know Borock is grader over there and he used to be the toast of the town back in the day when he was primary grader here but his rep has taken quite a hit on these boards. I personally bought a 6.0 i was very happy with recently. Has the grading by and large really been that loose over there or are books getting under GPA mostly due to lack of name recognition? Been out of the loop so a brief update on the situation would be appreciated if anyone has the time. Depends on who you ask but I think they're a half grade looser in general then CGC. I would say they are generally at least a half grade looser. I've probably resubmitted about 10 CBCS books to CGC, some were pressed before being resubmitted, some weren't. None came back higher; a couple came back the same; the rest came back lower. Small sample, but make of it what you will. Eyeballing a lot of other CBCS books, I can't think of any that struck me as undergraded, but quite a few have struck me as overgraded. Seems like overgrading may be part of their business plan. noted - thanks
