12 cent Superman's in the 200s are usually priced from $15 to $25 in mid-grade...more for high grade.  I'd say you got a deal.  When you get to the 20centers and above, I usually only pay 50 cents a book for high grade because they are as common as dirt.  Where did you say this store is? hm

I know you’re joking but it was TFD Comics and Games in Alpharetta GA, I’m happy to send them some business 🙂

Polling members HERE is not representative of Gen Z'ers in general or their interests... since they're already members of a high-end comicbook collecting forum. hm

The current crop of young adults (18-30) has shown seismic shifts in attitudes about foundational values, interests and principles that puts them at incredible distances to any previous generation, far more than anything we've seen before. A recent poll showed the gaps between the current young adults and the over-35 adults that they are more unlike their previous generation in values, beliefs and behaviors than ever seen in the country (even farther than the gap between boomers their parents). They are not like us.

kids today are growing up with the mcu as their favorite movies. As a kid in the 80’s it was my love of star wars that got me to start reading comics, so who knows, maybe these kids will do the same?

Again, this is NOT shaken comic syndrome.  This is someone in the encapsulation room not knowing what they are doing.  This is making the rounds on Facebook today.

This is why I am not sending anything super valuable to CGC right now.

(This is the thread I was looking for - yes I know I double posted it but why not twice)

Hmm. Nice resource, although ideally I'd love a list that indicates the distinguishing features on the Walmart exclusives, especially when they're not otherwise obvious.

And some of them like strange academy and spiderverse have had multiple walmart releases. Maybe we should all get together and make a better list?

  5. Now that I look a little closer the fantastic four one does say 2nd print, so some are reprints and some are not?

The walmart editions I have don’t say reprint in the indicia but they do have the printing dates listed, they’re printed by a different company.

I finished the Marvel set a few weeks back. It was a good feeling finally completing the set. There are still a couple that I'd like to condition upgrade, but all the heavy lifting is done. :D

I have a feeling the key Snake Eyes books will be going up soon with a new movie looming on the horizon, so anyone thinking about collecting Joe books right now should probably look into getting some of those first.

Besides 1, 21, 26 and 27 what issues do you think will get attention?

I doubt Zartan will be in the movie, even though he’s integral to his origin in the original comic run. What else is there? Hard and soft masters? Jinx?

  7. Cgc should make some info graphics about identifying these. I’ve seen them mislabel a bunch of 2nd prints as 1st prints, especially GI Joe books for some reason.

Not all star wars reprints say reprint on the cover, and it’s not easy to spot in the indicia. I think I may do an episode about this on my vintage star wars comic youtube channel.

On the topic of ESB, Williamson’s artwork is spectacular and I would recommend the Empire Artist Edition for his fans. Apparently Williamson kept all his Star Wars Empire artwork, so the whole story is printed and is a great showcase for his talent and range. It’s notable that Lucas was a fan of Al’s EC work and wanted him specifically to be the artist.
